The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a 2012 film adaptation of the 1999 novel of the same name by Stephen Chbosky, who also wrote the screenplay. The film follows Charlie, a freshman in high school, played by Logan Lerman, and tells the story of his journey of self-discovery. It was filmed on location in Pittsburgh and features an eclectic soundtrack of songs from the 1980s and 1990s. The film was both a critical and commercial success.
