1. Unit 6- HOW DOES THE WORLD MOVE? Natural Science 6 th level
• FORCES
Forces transmit energy, which is the ability to produce change. Energy
can deform an object or cause it to change its motion.
FORCES DEFORM OBJECTS
If we apply a force to an elastic or deformable object, we change its
shape. When we stop applying the force:
• an elastic object returs to its previous shape. This property is
elasticity.
• a deformable object maintains its new shape. This property is
known as plasticity.
FORCES MOVE OBJECTS
Force changes the speed of an object: it can increase it or decrease it.
It can also change the object's line of action (left, right, up and down)
• MACHINES
Machines are devices invented by humans to make work easier.
Some machines uses mechanical energy to transmit force, others use
different kinds of energy.
• ROBOTS
Robots are computer-controlled machines designed to carry out jobs
that are repetitive, difficult or dangerous for humans.
• ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT
An electrical circuit is a group of interconnected elements that allows
us to generate, distribute and utilise electric current.
• MAGNETISM
Magnets are objects made from materials that have the property to
attract iron and some other metals. This property is called magnetism.
We can find natural magnets and artificial magnets.
The magnetic properties of a magnet are strongest at poles (north pole
and south pole):
_When two different poles come together, the magnets attract each
