MACHINES NEED __________TO WORK.
2. A machine is one or more pieces that can transform
one energy to another. They can also transform
energy into work or to use forces to produce an effect
on a body.
ACTIVITAT: Think about some forces that
produce these effects:
-change the shape.
-movement.
-stop a movement.

SCALE
WHEELBARROW
SCISSORS
STAPLER
HAMMER
10. Inclined plane
• Ramps use slopes to make forces bigger or
smaller. Ramps turn a difficult lifting job into
an easy one by spreading out the lift over a
distance, so it requires less force.
11. LABORATORY: Built different inclined planes like the
ones in the picture. Raise an object vertically and then do it
with a ramp (inclined plane), with two different inclinations.
Measure the force that you have to make to lift the object
with a dynamometer.
