2. History Of Punk Rock/Pop Punk Music
Punk rock and Pop Punk music hit an all time high in the 1970’s with some of its
methods showing up as early as the 1950’s. This genre branched off from Garage
Rock and acted as a form of rebellion for the teenagers of this time. The first
places Punk music showed up was in the United States, England, and Australia. It is
a type of rock n’ roll and has an upbeat melody. It seems to be an “in your face”
type of music, but most songs have an intelligent meaning behind it.
3. Cont. Of History of Punk Rock/Pop Punk
Some of the best known Punk Rock artists were The Sex Pistols, The Ramones,
Blondie, and Velvet Underground. A lot of these artists “ broke the rules of music”
because not many of them knew what the rules were according to thoughtco.com.
The bands would use their music to show their political views and often had ideas
that most people would find kind of offensive. Many people say that Punk Rock
gives off an angry feel when people listen to it and makes many people feel
uptight. Others say it gives them a way to express how they feel. Some popular
Pop Punk musicians include Green Day, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, Panic at The
Disco, and My Chemical Romance. They has a lot of similar ideas around the type
of music they made, but had a few minor differences in they way they perform
and look.
4. My Opinion
I personally love to listen to Punk Rock and Pop Rock music. This type of music
has helped me a lot through my depression and anxiety. While some of the songs
have ridiculous meanings behind them, the majority are relatable for many people
in my opinion, especially with some of the difficult times I have gone through. It is
a genre that is fun to dance to and sing along with, and allows people to express
themselves, which may be difficult for other people.
