2. ADDIE MODEL:
•Generic process used for instructional
design.
•Critical Components: Analysis,
design, development,
implementation, and evaluation.
3. DIC AND CAREY MODEL
•Dic and Carey Model: Also an instructional
model which makes a systemic approach for
instructional design and developing.
•Utilizes an analytical method for system design
and training.
4. CONTRAST BETWEEN TWO MODELS:
• Dic and Carey’s Model focuses more on detailing than
the Addie model.
• Steps are: assessment, instructional analysis, learner
analysis, performance objectives, instrument
assessment, instructional strategy making,
instructional development, formative assessment and
instruction revision.
5. ADDIE MODEL:
• Only has five steps: analysis, design, development,
implementation and evaluation.
• Performance Objectives: The Dic and Carey Model evaluates
performance objectives.
• Addie Model conducts both the formative and summative
assessment.
6. ADDIE MODEL:
•Strengths: Addie Model is linear.
Addie Model is sequential in nature.
Cost effective: It is a profitable model as it saves
both time and money for both the learner and
the instructor.
7. WEAKNESSES OF THE ADDIE MODEL:
•The model is unrealistically comprehensive.
•It is not a detailed process.
8. DIC AND CAREY MODEL:
•Strengths: Accurately evaluates all
performance objectives.
•Weaknesses: It is product oriented
model which lacks systemic approach.
9. SIMILARITIES BETWEEN BOTH MODELS:
• Share common concentration on input, output, and whole
design of a curriculum.
• Differences: Addie Model is set up to evaluate in the fifth and
final phase whereas the Dic and Carey Model has evaluation
throughout each phase of the method.
• Advantage of Dic and Carey Model: Does not stiff creativity.
• Disadvantage of Dic and Carey Model: More time consuming.
