Project proposal title and date:
York’s Nature Vs Man February 2022-June 2022
Main area of activity:
Photography
Rationale:
Throughout the 2 years of the course, I haven’t really tried anything along these lines, so this is a
very different project. During past projects I have always had maybe little pieces of footage or
images I have filmed or taken in the past, so no skills have really been used before. I have learnt
certain little things on photoshop like changing colours, text designs, how to get text to fit around
an image, gradients but nothing major but I’m sure they will play some role when it comes to
production and having to process the pictures so they can be used.
No projects that I’ve worked on during the 2 years are having an impact because each one I have
tried to stick to a set plan and never change off it. My hidden passion is photography and I feel my
hometown of York has some incredible potential and history to explore, so I feel this idea is right.
Project Concept
The concept for this project is to finally explore my love for photography and create a plan for an
exhibition that would (if created) display the photographs and allow people to get up close and
hopefully see the hidden beauty North Yorkshire has. An exhibition seems like a strong confident
idea because it gives you an equal amount of planning and photography and each week you go
take more pictures and slowly build up and up until you’re at the summit. This also allows me week
by week to take different styles of pictures and try capture different emotions during the
photoshoots.
The research I will need to conduct is mainly going to be into the weather, where I want to conduct
the photoshoots, how I’ll capture the best possible pictures, how to make my pictures better and
how to plan and investigate exhibition. I need to research a location because without one of those I
cannot conduct a photoshoot or even plan one because I have no inspiration, the weather is
important because poor weather can easily affect the quality of pictures taken so I always need to
make sure I know the weather and its normal pattern around that time of year. Research into how
to make the final image look better is mainly to help me take the best quality pictures which then
helps me to create a better piece of work in production.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I plan on evaluating the work in a way where I both self-reflect but also try and get as much peer
feedback as possible because unlike my past projects that have possibly had an age target or I
have created something to a theme that only certain people could provide me feedback on but with
photography and landscape photography it’s for everyone and anyone so I know I can really push
the work out to everyone and get some good useful feedback from a big audience. My own self-
reflection I plan on been strict with myself but making sure I find the positives as well as the
negatives. I want to really make sure I keep mentation what I wanted the outcome to be during the
planning stage to how the outcome turned out, always making sure to compare it as I progressed
further. Hopefully the planning and outcome will be similar by the final call.
