2. Old Man Representation
•The costume we used clearly shows he’s an old
man as the coat and hat is stereotypical clothing
for an old man. We showed this by filming close
ups of his clothing straight away, so the audience
knew the type of character they we're going to be
looking at. We also backed this old man
representation up with music from the 70s, to
further emphasise his age.
•The only prop we used for him was the walking
stick, which connotes the idea of his old age, but
also a disability, so the audience are wondering
whats happened, and therefore this creates
mystery.
•The lighting was changed during the editing to
create a certain representation. I made it slightly
lighter when the old man is being shown to
create a calm atmosphere, which contrasts to the
flashback lighting
3. Racer Representation
•The costume clearly shows that this character
is a stereotypical racer. The racing suit
obviously shows this, but we emphasised this
representation using close ups of the costume,
such as the gloves, boots and helmet.
•This representation was supported by the
location, which was a race track, a
stereotypical location for a racer.
•The lighting clearly represents a negative
atmosphere as its very dark, and this subverts
the stereotype for racing, as its main
connotation is winning and happiness, but we
decided to subvert this because we wanted to
create a dramatic feeling for the audience.
This negative atmosphere was emphasised by
the sound as its very dramatic and tense.
