Aleksandra Burnatowska proposes a project to modernize an outdated builder's website by June 14th, focusing on accessibility and usability. She has skills in communication, organization, problem solving from her education and experience with Adobe software, equipment, and project paperwork. Her research will include questionnaires, focus groups, internal data, and case studies. She will use a content management system to allow for easy updates instead of hiring a professional. Regular evaluations will document decisions, research influences, and draft changes through vlogs and saved documents. Research sources will include libraries, museums, websites, and Harvard referencing will credit sources.

1. FINAL MAJOR PROJECT PROPOSAL
Aleksandra Burnatowska
Project Aim
To modernise an outdated website for a general builder in response to a client brief by the 14th of June 2019
focusing on creating an accessible (regarding the UX and UI) platform for potential clients.
Project Rationale
During my Digital Media & Broadcasting qualification I have developed skills, which have prepared
me to complete my Year 13 FMP. These skills are as followed,
▪ Communication skills
▪ Critical thinking skills
▪ Organisational skills
▪ Problem solving skills
▪ Self-motivation skills.
▪ Time-management skills
I have also gained the following knowledge which I believe will contribute positively to my project,
➢ Ability to use Adobe software, including,
▪ Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects.
➢ Ability to use equipment, including,
▪ Camera, tripod, lighting equipment.
➢ Ability to fill out necessary paperwork, including,
▪ Brief, proposal, pitch, storyboard, evaluation.
While completing my Year 13 Final Major Project I have realised that I should choose an achievable
project to decrease the level of difficulty. I believe developing a website regarding a client brief is
achievable as I have gained a basic understanding, which can be further developed, of key principles of
web design through tasks completed over the duration of my time at The Global Academy.
Regarding immediate aspirations, I believe that the completion of a web design project would enable
me to develop existing knowledge of web design. This will allow me to treat web design as a side job
while at university, regarding long term aspirations. Especially how university students potentially
may need to create an online portfolio website to showcase their work before entering employment
enabling me access to a wide collection of potential clients.
2. Project Concept
My initial idea is to modernise an outdated website for a general builder focusing on creating an
accessible platform (regarding the UX and UI) for potential client’s.
With an aim of enabling my client’s customers to understand the services provided by my clients
company without having to seek further information from my client.
To support my project development, I will carry out primary as well as secondary research
➢ Examples of Primary research that I intend to use, include,
▪ Questionnaire – to obtain specific, accurate, unbiased, quantitative data.
▪ Focus Group – to gain in depth qualitative data from an individual’s point of view.
➢ Examples of Secondary research that I will aim to use, include,
▪ Internal data – Databases, sale reports, past primary research
▪ Government Statistics
▪ Media – Articles from magazines, newspapers, reports from university research
centres
▪ Case Studies
To complete my project to a desired standard I assume that I will need to use the following resources,
➢ Pre-Production Paperwork
▪ Brief, Proposal, Research Portfolio, Site map, Wireframes.
➢ Production Technical Resources
▪ A laptop.
➢ Editing Software
▪ Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
I propose to use a CMS website platform to complete this project instead of using a professional to
design the website. This is to enable the website easier to access, maintain as well as adapt by the
client in comparison to having them contact a professional every time they would like to edit the
content on their website.
3. Project Evaluation
Evaluation is an important process of development therefore I will make sure that I record regular
vlogs highlighting my daily aims. I will also include what will be done next to introduce my next blog
post.
The pure reason as to why I intend to use vlogs instead of written evaluations is because I believe
vlogging would be easier and quicker to complete. During my regular reflections I intend to mention
any decisions I have made, why I made them, if anybody influenced me to make them and if any of my
ongoing research influenced my decision.
To document changes made to my idea I intend to save the documents as separate drafts after making
changes. For example, I would have an initial proposal document, adapted proposal document and
then a final proposal document which would show development that would also be highlighted within
my regular vlog’s.
Proposed Research Sources and Bibliography
For my Final Major Project (FMP) I intend to complete ongoing research which will enable me to
resolve unexpected difficulties that may arise as well as to build up useful knowledge for my project
and aid me to create a successful product through target audience analysis.
To gain accurate evidence I will use a variety of different sources such as,
➢ Libraries (Books), Museums (Artwork), Theatre/Film/Video, Magazines (Articles or Visual
aspects), TV/Radio Programmes, Websites, Online Research so that I can gain a range of
perspectives.
To document my research, I intend to use Harvard referencing. This is to enable me to display/credit
research in a professional manner. Below is an example of existing references made using the Harvard
referencing style which can also be found in my research bibliography,
