Balanced Diet

What does a balanced diet contain?

    A balanced diet contains carbohydrates,
    protein, fats, water, fiber, vitamins, and
    minerals.

    Needs to provide sufficient energy for a
    person's needs!
Why are these nutrients so
                important?

    Carbohydrates are used for sources of energy for the
    body

    Protein is used for cell growth

    Fats are used for long-term energy source, thermal
    insulation, and buoyancy.

    Water is used to transport substances and chemical
    reactions

    Fiber helps prevent constipation& helps with
    peristalsis.

    Vitamins & Minerals help regulate the body's
    metabolism.
Why should we eat a balanced diet?

    If you eat more than you exercise, it can lead to
    obesity.

    If you eat less, it can lead to malnutrition or
    starvation.

    Equal amounts of eating and exercising will help you
    live a healthy life!
Don't forget about exercise!
Doing physical activity helps you burn the
 calories you take in.
Examples of exercise would be:
- running
- hiking
- sports

  • 2. What does a balanced diet contain?  A balanced diet contains carbohydrates, protein, fats, water, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.  Needs to provide sufficient energy for a person's needs!
  • 3. Why are these nutrients so important?  Carbohydrates are used for sources of energy for the body  Protein is used for cell growth  Fats are used for long-term energy source, thermal insulation, and buoyancy.  Water is used to transport substances and chemical reactions  Fiber helps prevent constipation& helps with peristalsis.  Vitamins & Minerals help regulate the body's metabolism.
  • 4. Why should we eat a balanced diet?  If you eat more than you exercise, it can lead to obesity.  If you eat less, it can lead to malnutrition or starvation.  Equal amounts of eating and exercising will help you live a healthy life!
  • 5. Don't forget about exercise! Doing physical activity helps you burn the calories you take in. Examples of exercise would be: - running - hiking - sports
