Scope Of Work
1. 1.54 km long twin tunnel on Dwarka-Najafgarh metro corridor of phase III of Delhi metro.
2. Construction of one of the biggest underground station which is 290 meters long and 30
meters in width.
3. The station will be built at depth of 18 meters.

Top Down Method
In this method of construction the roof slab is
constructed first, after that remaining work like
concourse slab and base slab is completed under
beneath the roof slab.
This method is used at Najafgarh station.

Bottom Up Method
In this type of construction method base slab is constructed first after that concourse slab and then roof slab.
This type of construction method is used where space availability is more i.e. not congested.

Tunnel
Tunnels are constructed with the
help of the TBM.
Type of tunnel in project DMRC CC
66 is twin tunnel.
Inner diameter of the tunnel is
5.8m.
Outer diameter of tunnel is 6.2m.
There are 6 segment keys in 1
ring.
A cross passage is provided
after every 200 rings.
The lower most level of the
tunnel in this project is 18 m.

Sump tank
Sump tank is used to store rain water.
Sump tank also resist the excessive rain
water From entering in the tunnel.
Water collected in sump tanks are pumped
out of the tank by pumps.

Conclusion
• This six weeks training gave me the opportunity to work with some of the best
engineering minds in the country and solve complex engineering & management
problems that occur on field.
• Construction of underground structures is always a challenge because of the large
amount of machinery and labor involved; hence an engineer on field should also possess
management skills.
• Adequate measures have been taken to ensure the safety of environment and health.
• The soil used for filling on site was so as to achieve the criteria for the fill.
