plan our project and eliminate the negative effect.
Role of Distribution

3.  lift up 8kg weight which attaches to the gear box under a certain height
 Consider the output of the gear box
 Assume the motor is running the maximum power
 Consider the size of the carrier which attach to the last gear of the gear train

 Various factors that impact performance of gear box
 Property of material is one of primary concerns
 Gear box has to fit within task constraints
 Task constraint is material provided, 3mm thick sheet of Acrylic
 Many common gear types in the industry
 Helical, Bevel, Worm and Spur gears

6.  Ideal would be bevel gear because:
 High efficiency
 Plastic bevel gears work perfectly well
 Cannot be made due to material constraint
 Only have one option, Spur gears
 Many pros and cons about spur gears
 Advantages: Simple, inexpensive, efficient, easy to assemble
 Main advantage: It can actually be made from sheet of acrylic
 Disadvantage: Produce a lot of noise

 Need lubricant during testing process
 2 Main types of lubricant: wet and dry
 Graphite Powder
 Good at reducing wear and friction
 Can cause corrosion in metal
 Much cleaner than wet lubricant
 May optimize performance of the gears

8.  Torque formula 𝜏 = 𝐹 ∗ 𝑟
 r = radius of the gear rope/string is attached to
 Keep torque small, r has to be small as well
 Size of the carrier depends on size of last gear
 Carrier collects string windup
 Cannot directly attach string to the main gears
