Filariasis is parasitic disease caused by a filoriadea-type round worm infection. Lymphatic filariasis is a human disease caused by parasitic worms called filarial is also called as elephantiasis.

Host : men ,women ,adult ,children.
Environment: Climatic condition.
Incubation period :8 to 16 months.
MODE OF ACTION:
 mosquito bites ,lymphatic filariasis is transmitted people with
microfilarial circulation are outwardly healthy .
 But by mosquitoes they spread the infection to others.
 Filariasis is spread by the of mosquitoes infected with the vector .
 Transmission dynamic depend on the touch of the human mosquito
(ex . Infective biting rate )

5. Acute –
local inflammation include skin ,lymph nodes and
lymphatic vessels.
Early –
Red expanding target rash feeling unwell or flu-like,
headache, stiff neck, swollen lymph node,sound or light
sensitivity.

6. LABORATORY DIAGNOSIS:
The standard method for diagnosing active infection is the
identification of microfilariae in blood smear by microscopic examination .
PREVENTION AND CONTROL:
Wash the swollen region carefully every day with soap and water.
When sleeping using bed nets .
Controlling vectors.
Distruction of vector breeding areas.
Treat each person infected in household at the same time.
