INTRODUCTION
ABOUT THIS
INTERNSHIP
 This training about construction of all weather road in
Ramvan (SATNA). We were working under Rural
Engineering Department (RED). Who has given contract
to the Company Gagan Construction Solution where I
Was doing internship.
OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE
 PRADHAN MANTRI GRAM SADAK YOJANA
(PMGSY) was launched on 25TH DECEMBER, 2000 as
a centrally sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity
in rural areas of the country.
 RURAL ROAD CONNECTIVITY for sustainable and
inclusive growth of rural India is the vision of PMGSY.
ABOUT RURAL
ENGINEERING
DEPARTMENT (R.E.D)
 The department was created by M.P. Government to
strengthen Rural Infrastructure in the year 1972
administratively controlled under Ministry of Rural
Development. This department mainly executes the
construction works on deposit basis and is providing
technical guidance to district and block level
administrative officers as & when required
INTRODUCTION RAMVAN(SATNA)
PROJECT
 The length of road undertaken is 26 km.
The road is well connected with NH7.
Road gives passage to the rural to the urban road .
 Gives ease to the rural people Work on Birla cement
plant .
SITE VIEW/PHOTOGRAPHS
WHY CONSTUCTION OF ROAD IS
NESESSSERY IN Ramvam (SATNA)
 Ramvan is a developing village of satna.
 According to PRADHAN MANTRI GRAM SADAK
YOJNA(PMGSY) GOVEREND BY RURAL
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT (RED), villages which are
plays important role in the district economic should be
connected by highway. Thus , road constructed on ramvan
which very help in increasing the economic condition of
ramvam as well as satna
ROAD SITUATION BEFORE CONSTUCTION.
WORK BEFORE MY INTERNSHIP
TRAINING
 Survey on site new road .
 Estimating & costing for the project.
 Prepare budget for project.
 Work on site begin on MAY LAST WEEK (23rd OF
MAY
( SITE INSPECTION)
WORK OF ROAD CONSTUCTION DURING
MY SUMMER TRAINING (27-JULY-2022
TO 28-august-2022
SOIL EXCAVATION OR EARTH WORK:
 Soil excavation is a technique which helps in level of road before
construction. It is also provide plane surface for the fine & course
aggregates.
 1st step for the earth work is remove all types of plants, demolish
of all types of barrier like old buildings etc.
 2nd step of earth work is excavated earth surface on estimated depth
/ depends on site condition.
 3rd step of earth work is lying soil; on excavated surface for
providing plane & fine surface for aggregates.
Continue
 Sprinkling of water on soil surface for easy settlement.
 Lying of fine aggregates (less than0 .5mu ).
 Lying of course aggregates (more than 0.5mu).
 Sprinkling of water for settlement of aggregates.
 Sprinkling of sand over aggregates layer.
PREPARATION FOR EARTH WORK.
LEVELLING WORK AFTER EXCAVATION
PROCESS OF SETTLEMENT
Curing
 Spread moist straw or sand and sprinkle water periodically for 7
days and lay subsequent layers to prevent drying out.
Alternatively, spray a cutback or emulsion @ 0.7 to 1.4
liters/m2 within 30 minutes of completion of finishing
operations.
 At the end of day’s work, a transverse construction joint for
full depth should be made by chamfering at 30 angle.
Setting and Drying
 Cured for 7 days (moist). Hungry spots to be filled with
screenings or binding material, lightly sprinkled with water and
rolled.
 Only light motor vehicles could be allowed during curing. If
bituminous surfacing is to be laid over the (LFBM)Lime Flyash
LYING OF AGREEGATES ON SIDE
EQUIPEMENT & MACHINE WHICH I SEEN ON
SITE FOR CONSTRUCTION PURPOSE :
SPRINKILING OF WATER FOR
SETTLEMENT OF SURFACE
PROPOSED WORK FOR ROAD CONSTUCTION
AFTER MY TRAINING (WBM base course).
 Water Bound Macadam (WBM) base course is constructed with graded aggregate in
two or three layers as per the design.
 Each layer, with appropriate graded aggregate, is spread to proper profile and dry
rolled.
 Screenings (small size aggregate) are applied over the rolled aggregate and water is
sprinkled.
Water bound macadam for sub base /base :
 Grading 2 for material aggregate is 63 mm to 45 mm @ 0.91 cum per 10 sqm for
compacted thickness of 75 mm
 Grading 3 for material aggregate is 53mm to 22.4mm @ 0.91 cum per 10 sqm for
compacted thickness of 75 mm.
Updated road
Bituminous Layer in road construction
 Bituminous layer is laid over the base coarse to ensure that rainwater
does not damage the base, that moving traffic does not remove the
metal and other material. The Bituminous layer also provides for dust
free and comfortable riding.
 Many types of bituminous layers are constructed. Some layers act as
base coarse and some act as surface coarse only. Keeping the traffic
conditions on rural roads in view, the bituminous layer for works under
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is often provided only as surface
coarse.
POSITIVE FINDING OF TRAINING:
BY THIS TRAINING , NOW I HAVE-
 Ability of assessment of fact that what will happen with
the ROAD at the time of CONSTUCTION.
 Ability to excess the SITE location of any place.
 Ability to draw plan of any ROAD anywhere on the earth
or moon by using Google earth.
 To find out the distance between any two or more point
on the earth or moon by using Google earth.
 Ability to draw map of any area.
Continue
 Ability to find out approximate LENGTH of any ROAD
by TECNIQUES.
 Knowledge of MACHINE & EQUIPEMENT which is use
in road construction.
 More knowledge of about VILLAGE ROAD
CONNECTION.
 Ability to predict about general TOPOGRAPHY of
particular area.
 Ability to find out length and width of any river.
 Ability of knowing about any road and its connecting road
as well as its classification according to Nagpur road plan.
 Ability of knowing approximate layer thickness in road.
CASE STUDY ramvan(satna)
 satna cement industries is very much depended on ramvan.
 This new road helps to minimizing the rates of accidents bw
ramvan & satna and gives direct connection to urban road
which connects cement industries.
 The quality of material using on this road is very good.
 The quality of workmanship & machinery is outstanding .
 With help of this road the economic condition of ramvan is
rises at very high rates.
 There is no problem of funding
CONCLUSION
 Conclusion is that this training was beneficial for us.
 We have a lot of experience about road type and its characteristics as
well as village road connection.
 We have knowledge Indian road cods .
 We have knowledge about Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
 We have knowledge about RURAL ENGINEER DEPARTMENT
(RED).
 We have knowledge about village road condition.
 We have knowledge about road construction material like SOIL &
AGGERGATES.
 SO, these 40 days were golden period of life by
which I know that, what is CIVIL ENGINEERING.
