 A liaison between the participants of club
sports and administration
 It is mandatory to have 2 safety officers
at every practice
 Serve as designated contact for athletics supervisory staff.
 Responsible for communicating with facility management.
 Responsible for knowing team’s roster, paperwork compliance, and
player clearance.
 Responsible for knowing and implementing team’s Emergency Action
Plan and proper emergency contacts.
 Responsible for reporting any injuries that take place during practices
or competition (both home and away) to the Athletic Training Staff.
 Responsible for bringing medical kits to all practices and
competitions.
 Practice will be cancelled if a medical kit is not present.
 Responsible for keeping medical kits fully stocked.
 Check in with Club Sports Site Supervisor
 Vidas Complex – Outdoor Patio
 Armory, Rec Center & DAC – Outside Rec Athletics Suite
 Get Roster from Club Sports Site Supervisor
 Take attendance
 If someone is not on the roster or has not filled out all of the forms, they are not eligible to practice.
 All club sports participants should have their Dragon Card or Photo ID on hand at practice to
check-in.
 All forms must be in by September 30th. If members join after this date they must have all of their
forms in before they can practice for the first time.
 Rosters are set at 4:00pm each day, and printed out by the Club Sports Office. If there are any
questions regarding the Participation Agreement please have them email clubsports@drexel.edu.
 Questions about completed health forms should be addressed to the Club Sports Athletics Trainers
by emailing them at clubatc@drexel.edu
 Return Completed Roster back to Site Supervisor
 If someone arrives late, have them check in with the Supervisor. They will need a photo ID.
 Supervisor will go around to practices and check that the number of participants on the
field/court/pool/fitness room equal the number of members checked in on the Roster.
 Those practicing in the armory can leave their rosters at the security booth. If your practice is in
the Rec & DAC please return the completed roster to the Site Supervisor at the REC suite.
 If numbers are not equal then practice will be stopped and all members will need to check in with
the Supervisor.
 Injury (i.e. bruise, cut)
 Safety Officer locates med kit
 Injured student self-administers band-aid/ice
 Safety Officer sends email to
clubatc@drexel.edu that incident occurred
 End of practice teammate reports to safety
officer that he/she feels like they “pulled a
muscle” or “hurt their shoulder”
 Safety officer educates the player on the
athletic training services offered to club sports
 Safety Officer sends email to
clubatc@drexel.edu that incident occurred
 Injury (i.e. profuse bleeding, disorientation, loss of
consciousness, broken bone)
 Safety officer locates a Building Manager/
Supervisor or Athletic Trainer
 Follows direction of Building Manager or Athletic
Trainer (ex. Call 911, public safety (215-895-2222)/
locate AED, locate first aid kit)
 Make sure all incident/accident forms are
completed
Seizures
 Safety officer locates Building Manager/
Supervisor or Athletic Trainer – follow protocols
Clear the area of obstacles (sticks, balls, gear)
DO NOT restrain/hold down the person
DO NOT put anything in their mouths
DO put something soft under their head
(sweat shirt, t-shirt)
Any case where someone
loses consciousness for a
considerable length of time
the one safety office is to call
campus safety 215-895-2222
for an ambulance, the other officer is to call the
Athletic Trainer for further instructions
Examples – Seizures, Loss of Consciousness,
Contracture of limbs, and priapism
 AED is located in the security booth at the
entrance of the Armory
 Security guards and Site Supervisors can be
found at the security booth
 There are two emergency phones:
 One located directly across from the veteran’s
lounge (picture A)
 Another located along the back wall next to the
bathrooms (picture B)

 There is an Emergency Phone, AED, and First
Aid kit located on the Fitness Floor by the trash
cans.
 Supervisors can be found on the fitness floor.

Aid kit located on the Fitness Floor by the trash
cans.
 Supervisors can be found on the fitness floor.
 Emergency phone is located to the right of the Golf
Simulator Room (picture A)
 AED, Emergency phone, and First Aid Kit are located
on the pool deck (Picture B)
 There is also an AED outside of the Varsity Weight
Room
 Supervisor/Lifeguard can be found on pool deck
Water Polo – Triathlon – Swimming Safety Officers are
required to assist Lifeguards on duty
in case of an emergency!
