Orbit Sound – SalesRepresentative, June 2012 - November 2012
During my time at Orbit Sound I was the youngest representative on the task force and had to meet sales
goals of 5 units a day on a £300 sound system. Not only did I meet those goals but I was able to exceed
them regularly. Whilst on the team at Orbit Sound, I learned valuable lessons when it came to the customer
2. and how to achieve a sale.
Gekko – Samsung TV and AV SalesPromoter, November 2012 – April 2013
After successfully achieving the role of TV and AV representative, I had the task of working between John
Lewis and PC World selling high value Samsung televisions and accessories to consumers between the
prices of £200 and £3500; often reaching basket totals of £5000+. This shows that I am capable of making
high value sales to customers and using an honest judgment to help the customer find the additional
products that would benefit them.
As well as my sales role, I was also responsible for the key merchandising of the products in the stores and
ensuring posters and leaflets were located at the correct areas of the stores. This taught me the importance
of brand building and promotion.
Within my first month on the Gekko sales team, I was ranked 8th
out of 104 sales promoters on average
basket price and total sales, as well as topping my region frequently for average weekly basket price. Out
of the 108 sales promoters, I was the youngest at 17 years old.
Lloyds Banking Group – Customer Service Assistant, April 2013 – July 2013
Whilst selling a television to a Lloyds TSB branch manager, I was credited for my sales technique, with
honesty and extensive product knowledge and given the opportunity to diversify and change the direction
of my career. My responsibilities at Lloyds included, safe key holding, which shows the trust the company
had for me, and making sales referrals. My success in this area was not a surprise because of my interest
in sales and customer wants and needs. This was also noticed by my branch manager, who as result of
my high sales made me Referrals Manager. I attained this position in front of other employees, some of
which who had been employed by Lloyds for over 20 years; this shows the degree as to which I was able
to make sales, even when the customer was not aware they wanted the service or that it was available.
After my time at the bank I decided to take on a new challenge, I started installing fire and security alarms
with Vital system services (VSS) with my father as at the time I felt this was the correct career move for me.
A role for the company Blue Square Marketing selling Samsung Smart Tablets became available, which
was very rewarding for me and again taught me valuable lessons when it came to sales, Our Cambridge
region team was the highest ranking in the country but sadly, due to Samsung products becoming more
popular, not needing to be sold so much as people were more likely to walk in and straight away purchase
a Samsung product, we were made redundant, leading me to work with VSS again whilst looking for a
career opportunity. I began working for Lonsdale print solutions as an Temporary Ink-jet printer operator
due to minimal work available installing fire and security alarms for VSS. Unfortunately the work load did
not last long and I was no longer needed for printing. I then went on to work again for VSS but this unlucky
turn of events has taught me a great deal about business as my experience in lots of different fields and as
brought me to where I am now, looking to start my career and use the knowledge and experience I have
gained to my advantage whilst forever learning more.
July 2014 – March 2015 – Warner Group Publications Ltd, working as a Group Telesales Executive,
selling advertising space on ‘Camping Magazine, Diecast Collector and The collectors Gazette’. On a daily
bases I have to communicate with my clients via the telephone and email to consistently be sure that I am
making the company enough money to achieve and surpass budget, whilst making sure that the advert I
have booked will be effective and will give my client a great result, ensuring they return to advertise again.
This role is highly independent and relies on my own self-motivation and determination to achieve targets
and continuously make the company profit.
March 2015 – April 2016
3. I moved to Bauer Consumer Media, to pursue a role in Telesales - this time placed on a magazine where
I had much more freedom in my selling; Land Rover Owner. I had the flexibility to sell into features and sell
online advertisement through different avenues we had available. Working on sales between £50.00 -
£15,000 pounds, from small business’s to large companies with a worldwide presence, I had to be
adaptable with my approach to the customer. Whether it was new, lapsed or old business, I would always
work to fast paced and high yielded targets, to ensure I was reaching my goals; driving good results whilst
maintaining quality of service and consistency was key to my success. Progression and development are
things high on my list of needs, as I am constantly looking for new challenges that will lead to the
progression of my professional sales ability, within my role. During my time on Land Rover Owner, I was
able to widen my skill set, learning different aspects of the business allowing me to have a greater
understanding of the whole business operation - Liaising with production, sales operations, marketing and
research to further the potential engagement and response of every advert, ensuring that we can get the
return business and/or an initial large booking. Working on a line with a yearly target of £160,000, I was
able to thrive under pressure, never missing a monthly target and I would always sell our new products to
customers successfully, giving us greater understanding as to how the rest of the market will receive them.
I successfully grew the account to £200,000 p/a
April 2016 – End of September 2016
After a successful year at Bauer media - I made the difficult decision to leave my team and to pursue a new
direction as a Car Salesman for Steven Eagell Toyota. In this role I learned a wealth of new skills and
techniques to further my selling ability. Selling 30 cars across my first 3 months, I instantly felt a connection
with the job. It required fast, on your feet thinking whilst also requiring meticulous attention to detail when
going through the after sales process. I only moved away from this position, due to managerial techniques
that I felt i was not compatible with.
October 16 - January 2017
In October 2016, an opportunity arose through a friend to work as a Warehouse and Stock Co-Ordinator
- in this role I assisted in implementing business management software to control the movement of stock
and improve traceability, as well as general warehouse activity. This helped me to understand the
background of the business’ operations. I plan on leaving this role to pursue my true ambitions in sales and
marketing.
I N T E R E S T S
Since my childhood I have taken a huge interest in technology and sport. Whenever I am unable to do
something at a standard I am satisfied with I always drive to become as good as I can possibly be; this has
been reflected in both my working life and my recreational activities, such as technology and sport.
