INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
UNESCO defines inclusive education as a
process intended to respond to students’
diversity by increasing their participation
and reducing exclusion within and from
education. It is related to attendance,
participation and achievement of all
students, specially those who, due to
different reasons, are excluded or at risk of
being marginalized.
PRINCIPLES OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
1. PRINCIPLE OF EDUCATION FOR ALL
Inclusive education to have provision
for the education for all, irrespective of
sex, physical and mental characteristics,
socio-economic status and cultural
variations.
2. PRINCIPLE OF TOGETHERNESS
It provides such learning environment that promotes
all round development of all learners together in the
same educational setting. It is an approach which
brings all children together in a common educational
community.
Relationship between the family, administrations,
teachers, classmates etc., should be needed to run the
inclusive school and very basic step to enhance the
inclusive education.
3. PRINCIPLE OF EQUALITY
All the students should be treated equally in the
school and there should not be any kind of
discrimination on the basis of their disabilities.
Indian Constitution guarantees some educational
rights for children. Every one has the right to
access knowledge, skill and information. Inclusive
education deems fit to fulfil its constitutional
responsibility by calling for all groups of children
to learn together and from that learn to live
together. It includes all those sections of people
and provides equality to all.
4. PRINCIPLE OF PARTICIPATION
Inclusive education provides opportunities for the
students with disabilities for the active participation
equally.
All the student and their family members should be
motivated to participate in every events, programmes,
schemes, initiatives etc. Regular participation
enhances the confidence of the students as well as
their family members.
5. PRINCIPLE OF ACCEPTANCE/
PRINCIPLE OF ZERO REJECTION
Every parents wants to their child to learn or educate
with all other students in a regular classroom and
become able to lead their life independently.
In inclusive education all the students should be
welcomed and accepted without any kind of
discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, race,
disabilities etc.
6. PRINCIPLE OF INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES
Each children is different and unique. Even twins are alike not the
same. It considers this principle of individual differences of the
children in the learning atmosphere. And that is why it benefits all the
children.
7. PRINCIPLE OF ACCESS
Home to School
Access to all school areas
Access to schemes
Access to all functions
8. PRINCIPLE OF NON-
DISCRIMINATION
Non-discriminate in teaching process.
Non-discriminate in behaviour
Expressing equality
Full participation and equal opportunities to
all activities
9. PRINCIPLE OF CHANGE
Inclusive education tries to change the
system of education to meet the requirement
of the child and not about the change of the
children to fit the education system. It tries
to include all the children for equal
education irrespective of their differences.
10. PRINCIPAL OF POSITIVE
ATTITUDE
Attitudes have great influence on people’s
behaviour. Attitudes represent relatively stable
knowledge, emotions and reactions towards
people, phenomena and situations.
11. PRINCIPLE OF NEED-BASED
Inclusive education meet the personal and
educational needs of the disabled and handicapped
children enabling them to realize the optimum
development of the potentials whatsoever they have.
Inclusive education considers every child important
not less than any other, recognizes his/her strengths,
and provide opportunities to transform that strength
into a creative or special potential.
12. PRINCIPLE OF SOCIAL SECURITY/ SOCIAL
RELATIONSHIP
Inclusive education helping them to have a respectable space in society so that
society may feel that they are too are the important part of the societal system.
This will reduce the gap between them and a strong bridge will be established
which lead to common platform of learning.
13. PRINCIPLE OF UNDERSTANDING
 Inclusive Education ensures the
understanding of the children in regular
education system.
 This lead to comfortable adjustment of
both the disabled and non-disabled
children.
THANK YOU

Principles Of Inclusive Education.pptx

  • 2. INCLUSIVE EDUCATION UNESCO defines inclusive education as a process intended to respond to students’ diversity by increasing their participation and reducing exclusion within and from education. It is related to attendance, participation and achievement of all students, specially those who, due to different reasons, are excluded or at risk of being marginalized.
  • 3. PRINCIPLES OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION 1. PRINCIPLE OF EDUCATION FOR ALL Inclusive education to have provision for the education for all, irrespective of sex, physical and mental characteristics, socio-economic status and cultural variations.
  • 4. 2. PRINCIPLE OF TOGETHERNESS It provides such learning environment that promotes all round development of all learners together in the same educational setting. It is an approach which brings all children together in a common educational community. Relationship between the family, administrations, teachers, classmates etc., should be needed to run the inclusive school and very basic step to enhance the inclusive education.
  • 5. 3. PRINCIPLE OF EQUALITY All the students should be treated equally in the school and there should not be any kind of discrimination on the basis of their disabilities. Indian Constitution guarantees some educational rights for children. Every one has the right to access knowledge, skill and information. Inclusive education deems fit to fulfil its constitutional responsibility by calling for all groups of children to learn together and from that learn to live together. It includes all those sections of people and provides equality to all.
  • 6. 4. PRINCIPLE OF PARTICIPATION Inclusive education provides opportunities for the students with disabilities for the active participation equally.
