1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
By Aaron McGreevy
2. Hardware
Camera
For the filming of my opening scene I used a Sony Handycam
HDR-CX160 the reason I used this is because it is a top of the
range handheld camera so is ideal for recording. It is also is HD
which gives it enhanced picture quality which is important for
making my opening scene as realistic as possible. There is also a
setting on the camera to adjust the lighting and this was helpful
for some particular scenes especially like outside looking in and
the hallway scene where the lighting was not great. However this
did not enhance my specific skills as I was the main actor so
therefor got someone else to film for me.
3. Hardware
IMAC
Another hardware device I used was an IMAC the main
reason I used one was because how good the editing
software was on there. An example of this was Photoshop
which helped me in designing my production logo and
IMovie for the editing of my film. Another good aspect of
using the IMAC was the ability to download text for
Cooltext.com and also download music and sound effects
which could be incorporated into my final opening
sequence.
4. IMovie
Software
I used IMovie as it is a simple and easy to use editing
software which . While using this I learnt basic techniques
like adding in sound effects e.g. door creaking and heavy
breathing another good thing about using IMovie is that
when using sounds you can layer them over each other
also the adding of text which can be downloaded and
added easily. There is also different special effects you can
add it such as transitions and other effects which help
make your video stand out and look better. Before I started
using IMovie I did not know how to use it at all so I gained a
lot for using it
5. Online Tools
Blogger
Blogger is the main website I used to create my and edit
my posts. The good thing about blogger is that you can
combine text and images together also can change the
background picture and the layout of your blog so
everyone's is different. Another good aspect of using
blogger is the ability to embed videos on it so you do not
have to write a link you can just put the video straight onto
your blog also while using blogger I learnt how to upload
pictures that I have taken myself e.g. location I was going
to shoot. I found blogger easy to use and was an effective
way to present my work.
6. Online Tools
Slideshare
Slideshare is a effective online tool where you can upload
any PowerPoint presentation that you have created and it
transfers it into a more presentable form which is a big
improvement than a standard PowerPoint. Then when
embedding it onto your blog you simply embed the html.
Once I got the hang of Slideshare I found that it was really
effective in presenting my tasks in different forms.
7. Online Tools
Mindmeister
Another one of the online tools that I enjoyed using was
Mindmeister, which is essentially a tool where you can
create a mind map and add your own text and Images. At
first I did not know how to add images but the realised that
you search the internet for the images so is was more
helpful for my project as I had more variety of images.
While using Mindmeister I found that it was a different way
to presenting my work instead of the traditional PowerPoint
or word document so was something different and I
enjoyed using it.
