Meaning Of Guidance
Guidance in simple terms means to direct or provide assistance to
someone who needs help. In the broader perspective, guidance is
provided at all levels to human beings by one person or the other.
For instance, in a family, the head of the family may guide other
family members to act in a certain manner.
In other words guidance can help a person solve a personal,
vocational, educational or any other problem for which he is unable
to find a solution on his own. Thus guidance has emerged as both a
process and a concept.

In education system teacher is like a glittering and shining
sun who has a unique role in teaching and learning process.
The teacher has two main functions in guiding their students;
classroom guidance and vocational guidance.
As a classroom guide, the teacher should endeavor to
develop the best personal, social and educational qualities in each
student. As vocational guide the teachers have opportunities to
assist students with their occupational plans.

• The teacher as a guidance worker should be able to identify
individual problem in his/her classroom and be able to treat these
problems with understanding.
• In helping the student, the teacher may collaborate with other
subject teachers. The teacher should study the test results,
achievements, aptitude, interests and temperament.

his/her vocational goals.

Guidance means to direct or provide assistance to someone who needs
help. Guidance includes all type of education- formal, informal, vocational and
special. Because teachers have a significant role in students and school success,
planning on this precious capital will be logical and desirable. Success in not
accidental, but is the product of planning and effort in such a helpful and scientific
job. By using the past experience and the present science we visualize a better
future and don’t forget that civility and development of every society depends on
the number of its genteel teachers. Therefore, professional training of teachers to
gain sagacious and wise individuals will be necessary.
Although teachers are not consultants and advisors, they are
intimate to students and have the most influence on them. So, they should learn the
advisory skills and use it in teaching and solving students’ problems. They are not
consultants, but their role and function is so important that the success and failure
