GENERAL OBJECTIVES
 KNOWLEDGE : The pupils will be able to recall different
mathematical terms, facts, principles, theorems, laws,
formulae, etc.
 UNDERSTANDING: The pupils will be able to explain different
mathematical rules, principles, laws, etc. with examples;
compare and illustrate phenomena.
 APPLICATION : The pupils will be able to analyze situations;
verify predictions; solve numerical problems.
 SKILL : The pupils will be able to handle objects, instruments;
draw mathematical figures and free hand graphs, etc.
 INTEREST : The pupils will be able to take scientific hobbies.
The pupils will be able to define Symmetry.
 The pupils will be able to define line of symmetry.
The pupils will be able to understand about the different types
symmetry.
 The pupils will be able to define rotational symmetry.
 The pupils will be able to relate the knowledge gained with their
daily life.

INTRODUCTION
In order to motivate the pupils and to create a learning
atmosphere, the teacher will ask the following questions to
the pupils –
 Have you ever noticed the configuration of things like a leaf,
a papaya, a spider
 Have you seen the two equal parts of the following pictures?
SYMMETRY
Every leaf has two identical side.
All the figures can be fold into two halves.
The figures or objects which can be fold or
cut into two identical halves are called as
symmetrical objects. Which is known as
symmetry.
DEFINITION OF SYMMETRY
LINES OF SYMMETRY
The lines through which the figures can be fold into identical halves are
known as lines of symmetry.
The number of symmetrical lines of these regular polygons is equal to
their number of sides.
ROTATIONAL SYMMETRY
After a rotation of 120 degree the figure will posses an identical of the initial.
Order of rotation = 3
Angle of rotation = 120 degree

GENERAL OBJECTIVES  KNOWLEDGE : The pupils will be able to recall different mathematical terms, facts, principles, theorems, laws, formulae, etc.  UNDERSTANDING: The pupils will be able to explain different mathematical rules, principles, laws, etc. with examples; compare and illustrate phenomena.  APPLICATION : The pupils will be able to analyze situations; verify predictions; solve numerical problems.  SKILL : The pupils will be able to handle objects, instruments; draw mathematical figures and free hand graphs, etc.  INTEREST : The pupils will be able to take scientific hobbies.

  • 6. SYMMETRY Every leaf has two identical side.
  • 7. All the figures can be fold into two halves. The figures or objects which can be fold or cut into two identical halves are called as symmetrical objects. Which is known as symmetry. DEFINITION OF SYMMETRY
  • 8. LINES OF SYMMETRY The lines through which the figures can be fold into identical halves are known as lines of symmetry.
  • 9. The number of symmetrical lines of these regular polygons is equal to their number of sides.
