2. Ultimately, I have looked at other magazines and worked out the codes and
conventions for my music magazine, as I would know what they audience
would be expecting from it.For instance I used large heading to attract the
readers attention and the huge photograph of me (artist) on the front page
draws in potential readers as they recognise the artist and thus want more
of the artist. To attract my audiences I have looked at the results of my
survey and found out that readers wanted magazines to focus more on solo
artists rather than groups.
This is why I have taken a single photograph for the front cover, dps and
contents page of a solo artist. I used darker background colours to create
an R&B feel for the magazine and the title R&B MODE was written on the
front cover in big fonts. These features of the magazine will attract readers
as they carry codes of R&B and the title gives away the fact that the
magazine has something to do with music production and focus on how
they look thus making reader attracted to the magazines appearances.
3. After seeing my surveys I have come to conclude that the readers
wanted an R&B magazine, published once a month which would
consist of around 100-120 pages and published with a cost of around
2-3£.They also wanted the magazine to mainly focus on one artists.
So I decided to give the readers what they wanted and make it to
perfection.
I made the magazine in style so that the audience felt included. For
example putting the dps interview questions in a format of q and a
so that it reflected natural conversational patterns as I used speech
marks across the dps as it would feel like they were in the room
watching the interview take place. I could have improved my
magazine by including direct responses for example “you” “I” “us”
in the text to make the reader feel as though they had been
addressed directly and allowed them to be included.
