Questions 4&5
Shafin Khan, Jayden
Patara, Bakhtawar Khan
and Alisha Rattu
Who would be the audience
for your media product?
 The target audience we have decided for our movie is both males and females. This is
because horror movies are usually watched by couples as the male is usually their to comfort
the female when watching the movie. Also the personalities of the movie would link to both
genders which would make it right for both genders to be targeted. Some older couples may
also decide to watch our horror due to escapism and getting away from the reality aspect of
life.
 The main age range we wanted to focus on is 16-25 year old, this was because of what we
found from our research.
 If our movie was to be distributed it would have to go through the process of certification, this
would be due to the horror factor.
 Many males would be interested to watch our horror movie as it is full of action and shows
bravery from the males characters prospective, also usually males are more likely to be the
dominant characters as they tend to have more control. Also males would like to watch our
movie due to the horror and thrill factor.
 Many girls would be interested in watching our horror movie as the female character Alisha
shows slight dominance as she attempts to escape but she rushes which causes her to make
the wrong decision. Females also tend watching horrors on a night out with a group of friends.
How did you attract/address
your audience?
 We attracted our target audience in many ways, one way in which we attracted our target audience was
by using social media sites to promote our movie. This was an affective way for us to promote and attract
our target audience.
 Another way we attracted our target audience was by ensuring we have the zombie theme by painting the
characters Jayden's face to make him look scary, by us doing this we made the movie look more realistic
this was a good way to attract our target audience.
 Also at the end of our opening sequence we got the zombie character to attract the couple, we did this by
(jayden) the zombie running and jumping towards the couple, this was an affective way to make our
sequence a lot more scary for our audience, also this creates more of a tense atmosphere as the viewer
doesn’t know what's going to happen next.
 Our opening sequence also begins at backys house, we did this to make everything seem normal. This was a
good way to attract our audience later in the movie, as the audience are not aware what's going to
happen next, also the horror is different to others as the characters are happy at the start and excited about
the party but everything changes at the end. This helps to create a dramatic tone and makes the viewer
feel more intrigued.
 Another factor which helped to attract our target audience to the movie was us not telling the audience
about the zombie. This was a good way to get our target audience involved as they were suspicious and
they don’t know how the story is going to twist around. This is different to the usual horror films as at the start
and end you see gore and blood, but in our opening sequence you don’t see any horror near to the end.
 Another good way we attracted our audience was by having a voice over of a news report about the
zombie outbreak. This was a good and affective way as the characters were not sure on this but the viewers
know about it. This makes the viewer want to get more involved and tell the characters what to do as they
relate themselves to the situation of the characters.
