2. Why we Chose the Title
We called our film ‘One Week To Live’ as the
word ‘One’ shows that it is a small time frame
and strikes home that someone could die in that
time. It intrigues the audience into thinking
different things and making them ask questions,
it makes them think who is the person with one
week to live and why they are in that position. It
gives the audience a taster of what the film is
about without giving away to much information.
3. Characters
We have two main characters in our file. A husband and wife
who will be played by, Ryan Gosling and Jennifer Anniston. We
chose these characters as our filmed is aimed at a female
audience, we chose Ryan Gosling as many females are
interested in him and this may make them want to see the
film. We also chose Jennifer Anniston as she in many
emotional films so we know that she is good at showing
emotion, and she’s in the public eye and many women know
about her. The husband is in the army so this may
automatically reach out to people in the audience. The wife is
a typical American wife who stays at home most of the time.
She has good news for husband, with him only being back
from the army for just over a month, she discovers she is
pregnant.
4. How will our film intrigue the
Audience?
The film will start with Jennifer Anniston taking a pregnancy
test, whilst this is going on there is crashing in the background
but she seems to be oblivious to it, this makes the audience
wonder what is going on. As she goes downstairs she finds her
front door smashed down and her husband no where to be
found. This dives the audience straight into the deep end with
the level or mystery within what's going on in the film. The
camera pans out the door, and flashes to Ryan Gosling sitting
in a dark room, with blood and bruises covering his face. This
intrigues the audience into wondering where he is and why he
is in that state. This would be teasing the audience as we
don’t give away too much but enough for them to start asking
themselves questions.
5. Narrative
The main storyline of the film is a husband and wife, the husband is in
the army and has only been back for a month. The wife is finally
adjusting back to life with him there all the time. She gets some very
good news when she discovers she is a few weeks pregnant with there
first child. Before she even has the chance to tell her husband this he is
taken by a different countries government who are trying to find out
information about the US. Before she has time to think she finds her
self on a dangerous mission to try and find the location of her
husband, using only the clues, threats and letters that are sent by her
husbands capturers. The film is set in a typical American street, where
everything looks normal. This represents that they are just a normal
family. Parts of the film are also set in a warehouse although the
audience does not know the location of the husband. The wife travels
all over America to try and find her husbands whereabouts. Our film is
a thriller for women.
6. How our film links to the genre
Our film links to the genre as it shows how
devastating it would be for a woman to lose her
husband which would be every woman's
nightmare. The woman would feel hopeless and
it would reach out to the audience.
7. Why is our film different?
Our film is different to other films as this thriller is set for
women specifically as it would reach out to women and
they could possibly relate it into their lives. We believe
there is a space in the market for thrillers specifically for
women as we cannot find many. People will want to
watch our film as it is a love story as well and a thriller
and romantic films tend to do very will when then come
into the cinemas all over the world. Although our film is
mainly aimed at women there is no reason why males
cannot go and watch our film with their family or friends.
We understand that this is a challenging target as it has
rarely been done before but we believe our film will take
off and it will bring in a big profit.
8. Marketing
• Because our film is aimed at the women audience our
main form of marketing will be in women's magazines.
We will design posters and an advertising campaign
that can be put in the magazine. The campaign will
mainly be based around the characters, this is to draw
the audience in because viewers of films are more
likely to go and see a new film is famous actors and
actresses are in it. The poster will also feature Ryan
gosling in his army uniform, so people know that it is
based around the army, this may also encourage
people to go and see it because the film could apply to
them as well.
