2. Survey Monkey
Survey Monkey is a website which allows you to create questionnaires
and surveys and also turns them into graphs/charts when you have
got your result or ended your questionnaire.
Survey Monkey is very easy to use and allows you to create many
different types of questions, it can be YES/NO answers, multiple
choice, comment boxes ect.
This is a great way to find out what your audience want to see, it has
been very helpful as it allows us to ask the audience about some of
the ideas we have and whether they like it or not which helps us
improve our existing story. It has also allowed us to find out what
the audience look for in a Horror film which was very useful to us
when improving our film.
3.
4. We asked our audience what they would want in
a horror film, most of the feedback was to see
jumpy scenes. As our film is a horror film we
wanted to ensure that there where a few
jumpy scenes. This helps create a eerie and
spooky atmosphere which is essential in a
horror film.
5.
6. We found out that most of our audience wanted to
see a psychotic or an unsuspected person as a
villain. The feedback we got from this question
was very helpful in the planning stage, as we
were not sure about what type of villain to have
and whether they should be revealed.
We had decided that we did not want to show the
face of the villain as it would be more scary to
keep it unknown to the audience, although we do
have a scene where there was a girl that would
make the audience jump, or get them scared.
7.
8. From this response I have learnt that the
audience like the typical locations for a horror
film, there wasn’t one that really stood out. In
our film the two main locations are in a school
and a graveyard. Although the school location
had received less votes we had still used it as
our location as it was a very important part of
our film as it is bout a teacher. However, the
school that we had used was very dark and
had a ‘scary building’ feel.
9.
10. Most of our audience wanted a female as the
main character, in a horror film it is usually a
female as the lead role/victim, this response
had helped us decide for the main character
to be a male. This is because we wanted it to
be more of a surprise to our audience, we did
not want to do everything that they would
expect in a horror film.
11.
12. Most of the responses was for the character to
be aged between 15-20, again it is normal to
see the characters to be in this age range in
horror films. In our film as there is only one
main character he is not in this age range, we
wanted him to be much older as it is less
expected for him to be the victim in the film.
13.
14. In these two questions the answer with the
most votes was for characters to die and there
to be silence.
I our film no characters die, as our film ends on a
cliff hanger we wanted the audience to decide
or assume what they thought would have
happened to the character.
Throughout our film we have a lot of silence,
from the response to this question it is
obvious silence is an essential part in horror
films.
15.
16. Over half of the total amount of people that had
done our questionnaire had wanted the film
to end in a mystery.
Our film ends with a cliff hanger as well a
mystery, as it is unknown what actually
happened to Mr Smith. This is response had
helped us during our planning stage as we
knew that most of the audience wanted it to
end mysterious and we wanted to make sure
that we had followed through.
17.
18. Again, over half of the total amount of people
that had done our questionnaire wanted the
film to be set in the night, we had decided to
keep our film looking dark although we did
have scenes which were in daylight.
For a horror film it is important to create that
spooky atmosphere, and our location had
really worked well when it was darker.
19. Overall, I have learnt that the responses we got
from the questionnaires where very typical
features you would find in a horror film.
As a group we wanted to make sure that our film
had those essential features of a film but also
do things that would surprise our audience,
and some aspects of it to be different from
other horror films.
