2. STUDENT SUCCESS STATEMENT #1
"To see what is right and not to do it is want of
courage."
Confucius
Reflection:
What this statement probably means is that knowing what
is right, but not do so is lack of courage. In other words,
knowing what is right and how it looks like, but are not
brave enough to do so. For example, you see someone
you know getting picked on and you feel that you should
tell a teacher, but you are afraid that the bully is going to
find you for telling on him/her, so you end up not telling
anyone.
3. STUDENT SUCCESS STATEMENT #2
"Failure is only postponed success as long as
courage coaches ambition. The habit of persistence is
the habit of victory."
Herbert Kaufman
Reflection:
What this statement probably means is that failure is
giving up on success ,but being persistent is showing
victory. In other words, not accepting success is known as
failure, but repeatedly being persistent shows repeatedly
being victorious. For example, when you fail in an
assignment it shows unaccepted success and becomes
failure, but working hard and being persistent well lead you
towards victory.
4. STUDENT SUCCESS STATEMENT #3
"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful
men with talent. Genius will not the world is full of educated
derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are
omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always
will solve the problem of the human race."
-Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the United States
Reflection:
What this statement probably means is that nothing can replace
persistence and persistence & determination by themselves are
both very powerful. In other words, persistence and
determination are very powerful that they cannot be replaced.
For example, if you were doing bad in a soccer game and is
about to give up, you keep on going showing persistence and
determination, you end up playing a good game.
