PDHPE is an important subject that promotes healthy living and development in students. It encourages physical activity and healthy eating habits to counteract sedentary lifestyles focused on video games and fast food. PDHPE also builds social and cooperation skills through group work, helps students develop motor skills, and teaches personal safety like protecting oneself from dangerous situations.
1. Why Should we
Learn PDHPE ?
Physical development, health & physical education is one of the six key area in the
KLA, and only two hours a week are spent in this area of the KLA. With a society that
drives students towards video games and fast food, PDHPE is vital in encouraging students
a healthy and active lifestyle.
2. Co-operation with Peers
Students are usually out into group work in games and
outside activities. This builds the students abilities in
working together, solving problems in a group, taking turns,
positive and effective communication and conflict
management.
The skills listed above develops the student involvement
socially which will be very help outside of school as well as
in school.
3. Healthy living better life
Children need to be encouraged to participant in physical
activities a school and outside school because it s beneficial in
many ways, such as:
Promotes healthy growth and development, also helps achieve and
maintain a healthy weight
Builds strong bones and muscles
Assist in the development of gross motor and fine motor skills
Improves concentration and co-operation with peers
Provides students opportunity to develop social skills and make
friends
Improves cardiovascular fitness
4. Encourage healthy eating
Having some rice, vegetables and
strawberry is better then eating a
burger from Hungry Jacks.
Promoting healthy eating at primary school will help students
make the right choices as they grow into young adults.
Educating students about how certain unhealthy foods are
made will encourage them to eat healthy unprocessed food.
5. Promotes personal safety
Being with the family at home
would be a much safer and
happier surrounding then running
away from someone or something
scary.
PDHPE teaches students the importance of always being in a
safe environment with people hat they know. Student learn the
“No- Go-Tell” notion and ways to protect or runaway from
dangerous situations. The notion of personal safety at young age
is important especially if students are walking to and from school.
