Technology 1 from Research and Planning
– Blogger Jordan Wyllie
The first technology that I used before anything else for the research and planning was blogger. This was a new piece of
technology to me as I have never used anything like it before so it took some time and a lot of understanding of how to
work it efficiently. Although I struggled I find towards the end it was very useful as it was easy to organize as we could see
what we haven't done.
Once on blogger, to open a blank post you need to click 'new post' in the top right . Once on this you are able to change the
title along with all of the text setting (changing font size), you are also able to insert images, videos just by clicking the HTML
tab in the top left of the post you are able to paste the HTML code allowing you add to sound and embed presentations
from slide share, Prezi and YouTube by using the embedding codes from different websites. Once you have completed the
blog post you are able to label who has done the work, once that has been done you can publish the post by pressing the
orange button In the top right and then this will then be posted onto the blog making it viewable to the public.

– Prezi Jordan Wyllie
The second most important piece of technology for me that we used as a group was Prezi as we done a lot of
presentations at the start for our blog on other assignments using this piece of technology. I had used this before
so I understood it a lot better than the blogger. It is also very useful for our blog as it makes things like very neat.

To embed these Prezi's onto our blog we had to get the embed code from the Prezi by clicking the 'embed' button from this you will
get a code which you need to copy and paste into the HTML of the new blog post meaning that we are then able to embed the
Prezi onto the blog. And for this reason we found it one of the easiest pieces of technology to use due to the fact that it was so easy
to work.

Technology from Construction – Transitions
(Final Cut Pro) Jordan Wyllie
For our editing we used a software called Final Cut Pro and from this software I learnt how to use transitions correctly
and effectively which is very important because they are sued to show time passing and in our video we had a
lot of that being used, so we found especially the cross dissolve and fade to black made it look better instead
of just cutting to black which was seen in some of our drafts to break continuity.

As you can see we had a
wide variety of transitions to
choose from which did make
it make hard for us to choose
a final one.
This is how we used our transition we dragged it from the library and place it between the two clips which we
wanted to fade between we could either make it shorter or longer by dragging either side of the transition
dragging it out would make it longer and dragging it in would make it shorter. But we realized this was the most
beneficial way to use the transition as it wasn’t to slow or too fast.

Technology from Evaluation – Powtoon

For our evaluation question 3 we used PowToon: as a group we found it very interesting and useful as it allowed us to try
something different as it was unique. It was also very easy to use as it was similar to PowerPoint but very more advanced in
terms of what you can do with it.
To begin the PowerPoint you would press the big blue 'Create' button . From this you would be able to choose from a template
for a head start. Once you had done that you would get your chosen template with a white box. Now you were able to
add animations to the presentation to make it look a lot cooler and more interactive in a way, which we really liked. We
found this very beneficial to us as we could show our work in a very unique way.

7. Technology 1 from Research & Planning:
Dafont (Joseph Brown)
Technology 1 from Research & Planning:
Dafont (Joseph Brown)
• As I did "Credits" I had to use various websites to find the perfect font for our product. A main piece of technology I found was
'Dafont' a credit and title website. It was very good as it provided over thousands of fonts, in which I could go through and
find the best one. It also provided various filters helped narrow down the best suited font for our product depending on our
filter terms. It also was very easy to navigate and download fonts so we could experiment with them quickly and easily,
which helps as this was the first time I used this technology.
• To use and download font we had to go onto 'Dafont.com', once on this it
provides various search and filters terms above it which you can search and
find the perfect font. Once your font is found it provides you with a
download button, if you press this It then appears in your download folder,
where you can install it. You can then open final cut pro or your editing
software and it will appear in your text search after you add a piece of text.

8. Technology 2 from Research & Planning:
Slidely (Joseph Brown)
Technology 2 from Research & Planning:
Slidely (Joseph Brown)
To use a variation in technologies on our blog, I used 'Slidely' which is a technology (Website) where you can create a
slideshow/video filled with images. This was beneficial to me as it was very simple to use and it enabled me to upload multiple
photos into one slideshow, not taking as much space as a blog post on blogger. It also adds variation to our blog plus it was
very good for the 'location' assignments as there was multiple photos needed for this.
To use this technology you have to go on 'Slidely.ly' and select 'Create show', after this you will have to
upload photos to the collage using a small blue button to the left, once you have uploaded these
photos you have to select the 'next' button. After you select next you can choose your music, they
provide you with their own, or you can use youtube links, soundcloud etc. Which is really efficient and
diverse as you can personalize your collage to its content (Our location assignment used sound from
actual OTS). Once you select your music, select 'next' again and you can 'save slidely'. To share your
presentation and get the embed code you go to 'My slidelys' then at the top right there will be a share
button. You can then retrieve the embed code by selecting share (Over video) and embed to your blog
(On blogger).

Technology 1 from Construction: Final cut
Pro; Text/Credits (Joseph Brown)
• The editing software we used was 'Final Cut Pro' within this I leant how to create and use credits for our OTS, I used a very simple
way which was very beneficial because all OTS's contain many credits, and by using an easy way, there was no hassle or
strenuous work involved with doing credits as it was simple and easy. We also could use our own found font which helped reflect
the content of the OTS and add effect to the overall OTS..
• Firstly, open 'Final cut Pro' and import the clips you would like to use. Next you select 'T' on the main control bar, the T means text.
Once you select this it drops down various choices of text, select 'Basic Title' and drag it on top of your clip. Then double click
the purple 'Basic Title'. Look to the top right of your screen: the title can now be changed to what you want, and the font can
be changed by the drop down menu, as well as size etc. By selecting the circle below the credit on the screen you can move
it to where you want and place it on screen.

Technology 2 from Construction: Final cut
Pro; Blade (Joseph Brown)
• We used the software 'Final Cut Pro' to edit our OTS, within this I learnt how to use various tools: this includes 'Blade'. Blade was very
beneficial to us as it enable us to cut down clips to the exact point we needed them, helping us shorten huge clips, refine clips
for editing and save valuable time as it’s a very quick and easy to use.
• To use this open 'Final Cut Pro' and import the clips which you would like to use. If the clips are very
extensive this will come in handy. Whilst in Final cut select 'B' on your keyboard, your mouse will
then turn into a blade type symbol. Then hover over your clip and right click where ever you want
cutting, it then separates into two clips, press the 'A' key to get off blade and back to your normal
mouse key (you can delete the clip that you didn’t want by pressing the backspace button). You
can also use the toolbar to select blade, once its been selected the mouse key will turn into a
blade symbol, to reverse this you can use the toolbar to unselect it.

Technology 1 from Evaluation: Emaze
(Joseph Brown)
• For one of our evaluation questions we used a presentation technology called 'emaze' this was very good as it
provided variety in presentation technology and unique but wasn’t overly hard to use, it enabled us to create and
immersed, interactive presentation.
• Firstly, you open 'app.emaze.com' and select 'create new presentation' and choose a template. You then enter a
the main page to start the presentation. This is where you can start to create you won presentation using the tools
available. After you create one, select share at the top right and it will come with various ways in which you can
share it (we used embed code to embed on our blogs).

12. Technology 1 from Research and Planning –
Youtube (Seokjin Kim)
Youtube is one of the largest and
biggest video sharing website in the
world.
We used Youtube in order to
upload our preliminary video
and our Final Draft video on to
our youtube channel
Youtube is very
popular video sharing
website because it's
very easy to share a
video by simply
creating a youtube
account.
You can share a video on
your Youtube channel by
uploading a file of your
video on this page.
Youtube supports variety
of file formats, which is
very convinient for
content creators
YouTube videos are easily accessible with a
computer and also tablets via app. Which
means a lot more audience can be gained
YouTube allows you to share your
video on many different social
platforms and most importantly let's
you embed onto websites.
These tools provided by
YouTube lets you
customize your videos
13. Technology 2 from Research and Planning

Technology 2 from Research and Planning
– Art of the title (Seokjin Kim)
Art of the title is an online publication
dedicated to title sequence design, spanning
the film, television, conference, and video
game industries.
We used art of the title to look at
examples of horror opening titles
sequences to get inspiration
It's very easy to access
different title sequences
Art of the title lets you watch
opening title sequence of a
film, It's useful because you can
understand how the producers
use editing and camera work
to grab audiences attention
Our group researched many
different film opening title
sequences on the website to
think about our final video idea.
14. Technology 1 from Construction: Camera
Sony A6000 (Seokjin Kim)
Technology 1 from Construction: Camera
Sony A6000 (Seokjin Kim)
Sony A6000 is a mirrorless
Camera with 16-50mm
interchangeable lens, I used
this camera because I am very
confident in terms of how to
use this equipment. This piece
of equipment was one of the
most vital aspect of our video
because without this camera
we wouldn't have the video
quality we wanted.
In order to start filming and stop recording you have
to press this red button. You can film in either
automatic or manual, automatic adjusts the ISO,
Shutter speed and aperture for you. Whereas, in
manual mode you can control these settings and set
the frame the way you want it to be.
To preview our footages on
the camera you have to
press this button. You can then use this circular
button to switch between
photos and video clips
We also used Sony 50mm 1.8 lens, this
allowed me to film in low light and also to
have sharp quality pictures and videos.
Not to forget it created very bokeh
footages, which was very useful for horror
film
Sony A6000 films in 1080p
24FPS & 60FPS, therefore we
can both have cinematic
look and ultra slow motion
footages.
15. Technology 1 from Construction: Colour
Correction in Final Cut Pro (Seokjin Kim)
Technology 1 from Construction: Colour
Correction in Final Cut Pro (Seokjin Kim)
Colour correction is
used to set a tone &
mood for the
audience.
In our drafts, we filmed the video at different times,
which caused the clips to be at different brightness
level. Colour correction became very useful
because it allowed us to adjust the brightness and
colour of the clips to give the audience same
overall feeling and tone of the video.
We believe without colour correction it wouldn't be possible
to create the emotional impact of the horror for the
audience. Therefore colour correction takes up
Very important role during post production.
Colour correction in
Final Cut Pro X lets you
adjust; colour,
saturation and
exposure(Brightness)

There are a range of
templates to use for
our presentations,
giving them a unique
and refreshing look
every time. I have
learned how to use
these effectively in
this process.
I leaned how to add several different
things into a PowerPoint like images,
videos and symbols, this helped us to
make the presentations more indulging
for the viewer.
Overall we feel that we have learned a lot from using Power Point, our presentation
skills have improved with continued use of the program.
This is the animation bar, it allows us
to create a good flowing power
point presentation with smooth
transitions and appealing effects. This
allows us to better communicate with
our viewers/Readers.

We used YouTube to MP3 to download all our music for our final video,
we first made sure it was Royalty free so we could use them legally in our
OTS. We felt this was a very vital feature as it was very simple to use and
without it we would have to go to more extensive lengths to download
our music

We used Slides as an alternative to Power Point, we did this to extend the amount of
technology's we used and to gain a better understanding of Slides and where we
could use it. We decided to use slides in our Evaluation as we felt it was appropriate
and an excellent alternative to Power Point.
