IDEA GENERATION
SOFT SKILLS FOR THE CORPORATE WORLD
Employers NEED a way to
find the right skills in
freshmen graduating out
of schools since it helps
corporates concentrate in
furthering their business
rather than spend time
preparing them for their
careers.
• Involvement of the corporate in university curriculum
• Have a corporate sponsored course on soft skills in the
final year of study
• Have a methodology to evaluate the students based on
the soft skill training
• First preference given to students who fared well
during the evaluation process
• The first 5 students will be offered internship with
stipend to train the resources
• The interns to be hired based on performance
• Give importance to any of the white paper
presentations by students
• Evaluation to include ability to articulate the solution
and confidence exhibited when talking about a
solution
• Employers to build corporate scenarios for students to
get acquainted with corporate world
• Constant interaction of potential employers during the
last year of college would boost confidence in students

I am bringing in solution for the software industry since
my interview was with the Director of Software
development in a technology company
• Talk about the latest technology to students
• Talk about the latest trends in their enterprise
• Encourage students to talk further on technology
• Reward students for fresh ideas
• Reward for ideas that can be taken to the next level
• Technical scenarios provided for students and to be
technologists to resolve
• Importance to be given to the approach rather than
only for the solution

HOW DO I SOLVE IF I HAD UNLIMITED BUDGET?

• Set up a career lab / center for training
• Training to be initiated after recruitment into the
enterprise.
• Training to involve
• Team building
• Leadership
• Technical training
• Language skills
• Soft skills
• Management skills
• Business etiquettes
• Identify the skills in each individual and assign them
to appropriate team
• This training to span over a period of 6 months

HOW DO I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT SPENDING
Employers NEED a way to
find the right skills in
freshmen graduating out
of schools since it helps
corporates concentrate in
furthering their business
rather than spend time
preparing them for their
careers.
• Outsource the training before rolling out the campus
offers.
• Have an evaluation criteria to select candidates
• Those who fare well are confirmed after a training
period of 3 months
• The recruits go through another 6 months probation
period on the job and based on an evaluation
criteria then offered a permanent position in the
enterprise
• This would save cost and time for the enterprises
• Potential employers could be guest lecturers while
the curriculum in ongoing

THE MOST PRACTICAL IDEA
 Soft skill training as part of the curriculum
 The college /university curriculum can accommodate the soft
skills training to prepare students for life in the corporate
world. Corporates / potential employers would easily give
the inputs and mentor students since the talent is groomed
to take up challenges and there is a huge cost saving for
them. This will bridge the gap between the demand and
supply and is the most practical idea.
THE MOST DISRUPTIVE IDEA
 Outsource training
 Have another entry criteria before the candidate is picked up
from colleges. Give it a 3 month course to be conducted by a
third party so the enterprise will not be spending time
money and labor on the new members coming in. The
evaluation at the entry level will determine whether the
recruit is ready to face the challenges that the career has to
offer. A further period of 6 month probation to the
employees would reduce the risk of an enterprise
immensely.
THE FAVORITE IDEA
 Career lab
 My favorite idea is the setting up of career lab by the
employer. The new joiners can be huddled together and can
be a perfect ground to share their background, find
commonalities and build team spirit necessary for any
smooth transition from school to work life. This will also
build immense confidence in students and raises their level
of productivity and performance. It also develops loyalty of
new joiners towards that enterprise. Overall this
methodology propagates healthier and sustainable
development of society and industry.

SOFT SKILLS FOR THE CORPORATE WORLD Employers NEED a way to find the right skills in freshmen graduating out of schools since it helps corporates concentrate in furthering their business rather than spend time preparing them for their careers. • Involvement of the corporate in university curriculum • Have a corporate sponsored course on soft skills in the final year of study • Have a methodology to evaluate the students based on the soft skill training • First preference given to students who fared well during the evaluation process • The first 5 students will be offered internship with stipend to train the resources • The interns to be hired based on performance • Give importance to any of the white paper presentations by students • Evaluation to include ability to articulate the solution and confidence exhibited when talking about a solution • Employers to build corporate scenarios for students to get acquainted with corporate world • Constant interaction of potential employers during the last year of college would boost confidence in students Problem Statement

TECHNICAL SKILLS IN TECHNOLOGY COMPANY Employers NEED a way to find the right skills in freshmen graduating out of schools since it helps corporates concentrate in furthering their business rather than spend time preparing them for their careers. I am bringing in solution for the software industry since my interview was with the Director of Software development in a technology company • Talk about the latest technology to students • Talk about the latest trends in their enterprise • Encourage students to talk further on technology • Reward students for fresh ideas • Reward for ideas that can be taken to the next level • Technical scenarios provided for students and to be technologists to resolve • Importance to be given to the approach rather than only for the solution Problem Statement
  • 5. HOW DO I SOLVE IF I HAD UNLIMITED BUDGET? Employers NEED a way to find the right skills in freshmen graduating out of schools since it helps corporates concentrate in furthering their business rather than spend time preparing them for their careers. • Set up a career lab / center for training • Training to be initiated after recruitment into the enterprise. • Training to involve • Team building • Leadership • Technical training • Language skills • Soft skills • Management skills • Business etiquettes • Identify the skills in each individual and assign them to appropriate team • This training to span over a period of 6 months Problem Statement

HOW DO I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT SPENDING Employers NEED a way to find the right skills in freshmen graduating out of schools since it helps corporates concentrate in furthering their business rather than spend time preparing them for their careers. • Outsource the training before rolling out the campus offers. • Have an evaluation criteria to select candidates • Those who fare well are confirmed after a training period of 3 months • The recruits go through another 6 months probation period on the job and based on an evaluation criteria then offered a permanent position in the enterprise • This would save cost and time for the enterprises • Potential employers could be guest lecturers while the curriculum in ongoing Problem Statement

THE MOST PRACTICAL IDEA  Soft skill training as part of the curriculum  The college /university curriculum can accommodate the soft skills training to prepare students for life in the corporate world. Corporates / potential employers would easily give the inputs and mentor students since the talent is groomed to take up challenges and there is a huge cost saving for them. This will bridge the gap between the demand and supply and is the most practical idea.
  • 9. THE MOST DISRUPTIVE IDEA  Outsource training  Have another entry criteria before the candidate is picked up from colleges. Give it a 3 month course to be conducted by a third party so the enterprise will not be spending time money and labor on the new members coming in. The evaluation at the entry level will determine whether the recruit is ready to face the challenges that the career has to offer. A further period of 6 month probation to the employees would reduce the risk of an enterprise immensely.
  • 10. THE FAVORITE IDEA  Career lab  My favorite idea is the setting up of career lab by the employer. The new joiners can be huddled together and can be a perfect ground to share their background, find commonalities and build team spirit necessary for any smooth transition from school to work life. This will also build immense confidence in students and raises their level of productivity and performance. It also develops loyalty of new joiners towards that enterprise. Overall this methodology propagates healthier and sustainable development of society and industry.
