The magazine that I have chosen that caters to music similar to the genre I have chosen to do for my
coursework is ‘Top of the Pops’ magazine; this magazine starting in 1995 is published by BBC
magazines. This would be an appropriate publisher for my intended magazine because the BBC
magazines is renowned and extremely successful, publishing many diverse magazines such as
Gardeners World, Good Homes, Girl Talk and CBeebies Weekly that fit into genres such as ‘adult’,
‘teen’, ‘pre-teen’, ‘educational’ and ‘pre-school’. Specifically in relation to ‘Top of the Pops’, the
target audience is teenage girls reinforced by the specific mode of address, stereotypical colours and
content.
