2. 1950s – Economic Perspective – selling off the
rainforest to loggers, ranchers and developers to make
money
1994 – Environmental Perspective – The Govt signed
the International Tropical Timber agreement which
limits the use of the rainforest for logging
1998 – Environmental Perspective – they signed the
Kyoto agreement which limits the greenhouse gas
emissions for Brazil.

3. 1960s – Economic Perspective – Set up the Jari Project
which was a large tree farm ad pulp and paper mill
1980s – the jari project was sold by the developer
(ludwig) as he now looked at the location with an
environmental perspective and understood that the soil
was infertile and thus was unsustainable as a logging
operation

4. 1920s – had a social perspective as they saw the
landscape as a place to use by them as they saw fit, either
as a place to farm using shifting cultivation (the
indigenous peoples) or as a place to farm or log.
2000 – they developed a more sustainable view on the
environment as they undersatnd that the landscape
needs to be protected for the good of future
generations, they still use it but with minimal impacts.
