Procedure and
Library Block
Initiation

2. Login to HCT Portal: http://portal.hct.ac.ae . You should
be seeing the same screenshot as shown below.

3. In the HCT Portal page, click the “Workflow Self
Services” menu. It will list down the Workflow sub-menu,
in which the “Jobs Waiting For My Approval” is
included. A new window will pop-up once clicked.

4. The new window “Jobs Assigned to Me” should
appear:

5. To verify whether the student is clear or not, copy the
student’s H-number and paste it Millennium.

6. If the student is clear in Millennium, tick the Approve
button and click the Submit button at the bottom of
the page.

7. If the student has loans or fines, click the
View/Edit/Enter Personal Comments to add full
Millennium details.

8. In the Enter Comments box, the format to follow for
comments should be: “Full Millennium details – library block
initiated – date/ initials”
Ex:
“Fine of 60 AED for Aladdin graded reader – library block initiated - 24/10/2012/ Benj”
Click Submit to proceed. It will take you back to Jobs
Assigned to Me window.

9. Note that students who have loans or fines also get
approved in the Workflows, the difference is you have
put a message in Millennium and initiate a library block
and which will be shown in the following slides.

10. To put message in Millennium: On the students’ record,
click Edit and Insert Message. The format should be:
“Library Block Initiated – date – initials”. Click ok to save.

11. To initiate library block: Go back to Portal and click
Faculty Self Service. Under the Library Services Staff,
click View Library Blocks. A new window --View Library
Block will appear when clicked.

12. In the View Library Blocks window, under the campus
tab select Abu Dhabi Men’s College, type the student
ID and click submit. If you can’t find student, check
PACE or CERT. If not found, try All.
If not at ADM, PACE or CERT, check with Rita/ Reni to fix
campus location.

13. In the Library Blocks window, click the Enter Block
hyperlink.

14. It will take you to the Enter Library Blocks window, the
Start Date should display the current date but if not,
click the small calendar icon and select the current
date. Leave the End Date as it is. Click Submit to
activate block.

15. Once block has been added, make sure to close all
active windows and logout your account once your
done.
