This document provides instructions for resetting and redeeming apps on student iPads. It outlines the steps to erase all content and settings on the iPad to reset it. It then details how to set up the iPad by selecting the language and region, connecting to WiFi, signing in with the Apple ID, agreeing to terms, setting up iCloud backup, enabling location services and dictation. Finally, it explains how to redeem apps by accessing the App Store and tapping on the cloud icon to download previously purchased apps using the provided password.
1. How to Reset and Redeem Apps
on Student iPads

2. Pre-requisites
Portal print-out bearing the Apple ID, Password and
Student ID
Double check if the item has been cleared in
Millennium
Double check if the date on the “return date” column
on the portal is present.
If yes, proceed with the reset.
If no, contact Sharief of IT (050-
4287076/scheeniath@hct.ac.ae) with the complete details
(HCT ID, Serial Number, Apple ID, date returned)
5. Go to General > Reset > Erase All Content and
Settings. Select Erase twice.
The iPad will reboot and you should see the Apple logo and
bar.
6. Setting Up the iPad (applies for brand new and
returned iPads)
Unlock the iPad by swiping it and select English as language
7. To proceed, you have to make sure there is
tick mark and always tap the “Next” button.
Select United States as Region > Next, then Enable Location >
Next
8. Wi-Fi Networks and Set Up New iPad
Select Wireless Network New and Set up as new iPad
9. Sign in the Apple ID and password. Retrieve
from the print-out or thru the HCT Portal.
Make sure that the Apple ID and password are correct.
15. Go to purchase tab. Tap the right arrow until you
reach the last page.
Tap and hold the cloud with an arrow icon for 2-3 seconds and release.
16. Key in the password to start the download.
For the next 12 apps, there’s no need to put the password. Just tap for a fraction of a second and release.
17. Once the Apps are downloaded, put the device to
sleep by pressing the button behind the iPad.
Press once. You
will hear a
distinct click
sound and the
screen should go
blank.
