Lyrical Ballads Captures The Hour of Feeling Essay
Lyrical Ballads were written in a time of great change. They were dominated by the French
Revolution and both Wordsworth and Coleridge felt great impact from this. There was disruption
all over with the American War of Independence and other wars worldwide. Britain itself was
changing rapidly due to colonial expansion, which brought new wealth, ideas and fashion, and
there was much disturbance to both the people and the land with the act of enclosure, which may
have meant more effective farming but less work. The introduction of the Poor Laws meant that
landowners paid their remaining staff very little knowing that they would be supplemented by
poor relief. However the conditions stated by the Laws before aid would be given were very... Show

The middle of the eighteenth century was the height of what became known as the ?Age of
Reason?, where people believed that thoughts and actions should be based on the material
world. This supported John Locke?s theories that a populace could legitimately revolt against a
tyrannical government. This would have greatly appealed to British people at a time where the
government has become increasingly oppressive due to their fear of an uprising. The desire for
stability was shown in the Church. However this gave many people more reason to feel the need
for change as it said that salvation lay in duty and obedience and that children were merely blank
pages to be educated and therefore gain decency and social responsibility. Dreams and
imagination were distrusted and discouraged. Lyrical Ballads broke through all this,
encouraging imagination and telling us to learn from the simplicity of children, therefore
appealing to many people. The 1780?s saw lots of inspired political and social movements with
people hoping to rid the world of slavery, promote women?s rights, protect workers, increase
suffrage, promote tolerance and greater sexual freedom. Many of these issues are present in
Lyrical Ballads. ?Mad Mother?, ?The Thorn?, ?The Female Vagrant? and ?The Forsaken Indian
Woman? all call for better rights for women as it was society that really caused their suffering in
these poems. In ?The Thorn? the woman may never had killed her child with more

Is College Worth It
Is college actually worth it? This is a question most students start asking as the college cost
increases and jobs are harder to get. Getting accepted into a good college is a great start, but in
order to be successful students themselves need to be hardworking, motivated, and creative. That
way students can make worth of the cost of collegeand become successful. College is worth it
because it gives workers a higher chance of being employed and gives student s problem solving
skills to boost the economy. For starters, those with a high schooldiploma are more likely to be
unemployed than those with a college degree. On the article ВЁEducation Still PaysВЁ it was

Skyforger By Sampo Poem
It is presented in this musical composition as an allegory of all the innovation and comforts of the
modern world: by solving all of the basic needs of its owner, the Sampo turns him into an apathetic
and lazy figure, which doesn t rely anymore on his capabilities. The Sampo is the perfect metaphor
for the machine, whose work is inexorably replacing that of mankind.

by the same name was the first to be active in the genre, and was pretty popular in those years as a

The track Silver Bride reminds of the maiden of Pohjola, Ilmarinen s beloved, whose hearth he
tries to conquer in the verses of the Kalevala. The narration is from the perspective of a single
character and echoes different parts of the poem, relying on the structure of Tales from the
Thousand Lake. The sound is more melodic and folk rock than the other albums, making Skyforger
the most commercial work of the Finnish band.
The artwork of The Beginning of Times features the cosmic egg from which Väinämöinen is
born. Released in 2011, the album offers all the musical elements introduced in all the previous
works, summarised in one single masterpiece. In this album the band praises Väinämöinen as
the iconic hero of Finnish mythology in the same way Lönnrot did in his epic poem.
It is quite likely that the author of the Kalevala himself would have never imagined the potential
influence of the poem on the various branches of Finland s cultural life, especially the music. The
most representative work of Finnish literature and the most remarkable beacon of the ancient
traditions of the Finns had been an important source of inspiration for musicians inside, and outside,
the Finnish territory, and it s outstanding charm will hopefully be passed on to the next

of the government s reform of consumer law in the UK. The Act has been lauded as an immense
upheaval of consumer law due to the integration of eight existing pieces of legislation into one. The
complicated regulations regarding goods and services that consumers and businesses struggle to

The definition of goods is given as any tangible moveable items. Shoppers are now guaranteed a
full refund up to 30 days after the purchase of the defective product. This demand for a full
refund with a fixed time limit provides better protection for consumers as the duration was
previously unclear and legitimate claims could be rejected by businesses due to prior
legislation only providing refunds if within a reasonable time. This time limit is provided for
under Section 22(3) which gives the consumer the right to reject the goods. After 30 days,
retailers will be given one opportunity to repair or replace the defective product and this is
dependent on the customer. The CRA now incorporates a three tier system to resolve any
problems between the consumer and the trader. The degree and nature of the remedies available
will depend on the amount of time the consumer has owned the product or on the type of service
provided. The first step is when the goods are not satisfactory, in which consumers are entitled to
reject them, as provided under Section 22. A full refund can be claimed and must be given without
undue delay and this has been covered under Section 20. The second step occurs when the
consumer has either lost the chance or not chosen to reject the goods. Under Section 23, the
consumer is entitled to claim a repair or replacement of the goods. The trader must repair or

Ferdinand Magellan s Voyage Round The World Analysis
An analysis of Ferdinand Magellan s Voyage Round the World, 1519 1522 CE First of all,
Ferdinand Magellan or Fernando de Magelhaes (as referred in the primary source) is a
Portuguese explorer and navigator. He was born in a noble Portuguese family in 1480 and he
spent his time serving the queen of Portugal since he was a young boy (Szalay, 2014). Magellan
had participated in many of Portugal expeditions. He enrolled in the fleet of the Portuguese
expeditions in 1505 and involved in many journeys includes the journey to India, Africa and
even Malacca in Malaysia in 1511(BBC, 2014). According to Ducksters (2005), he had traveled
to India by sailing around Africa. Later on, Magellan came up with an idea to travel around
Americans. Magellan s idea was to sail westwards from Seville in Spain, through South America to

such as nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and black pepper. Those spices were extremely valuable
during Magellan s day in 16th century because it could not be grown in Europe in which the

When the teacher morale is increased, their quality of instruction increases which benefits students.
One way students could benefit is that this schooling could provide them with an increased student
centered instructional strategy during a year round school year. These could be activities that
activate prior knowledge, hands on projects, in depth discussions, and multiple intelligences. These
learning experiences are highly effective, but they are also time consuming. On a multi track
schedule, students could also be exposed to smaller classroom sizes, which could benefit the student
giving them more time to themselves, and to their assigned teacher for extra instruction. Under a
year round schedule, the students benefit by having smaller breaks, meaning they can quickly snap
back to previously learned information. When information is stored, but not used for an extended
period of time, anyone can lose that information. Due to the shorter breaks, students may find it
difficult to find a summer job, or a job at all, but there are jobs that work with students or maybe
just limit their time at the workplace.
For students that take place in extracurricular activities, the year round schedule would mess with
after school practices or competitions. The school could work with the surrounding community to

Alexis De Tocqueville Democracy In America Summary
Democracy in America was Alexis De Tocqueville s observation of American political character.
His 1830s view on the laws are different now in the 21st century. De Tocqueville adds his view of
property, power, and religion. He states that in 1830 the democracy which governs American
communities appears to be rapidly rising into power in Europe thus became the idea behind
Democracyin America. I figuratively sat down with Alexis De Tocqueville
to talk about his views in
Democracy in America and told him how different or similar some are to our democracy now.
De Tocqueville s on rich and poor is somewhat the same today, however rich to him might have
been hundreds while today it s millions or even billions. He writes the taste for luxury, the love

Rip Van Winle As A National Mythology In Rip Van Winkle
Rip Van Winkle a National Mythology
Heroic, exciting, remarkable, and mysterious! These are a few characteristics found in a national
mythology. A national mythology is a body or collection of myths belonging to a people that
highlight the nation s values and ideals, celebrates its heroes and commemorates its defining
events. In the time after the American Revolutionary War people were very excited to have
freedom and some chose to show this pride and excitement through the writing of the crazy legends
known as national mythology. In Rip Van Winkleby Washington Irving, he creates a national
mythology through an incredible experience of the main character, Rip Van Winkle. The use of
remarkable characters, mysterious events, and exciting places in Rip Van Winkle highlights the
nation s values and ideals, commemorates its defining events, and celebrates its heroes. Rip
Van Winkle was based right around the time of revolutionary America, one exciting place within
the story was a quaint little village full of life, color, and culture. ...There were some of the
houses of the original settlers standing within a few years, with lattice windows, gable fronts
surmounted with weathercocks, and built of small yellow bricks brought from Holland (Irving
62). When Irving described this village he was sure to include the heritage found within this
small mountain town, the brightly colored yellow bricks from Holland and lattice windows,
each detail shows just how important culture was in early American lives. Irving was not only
able to show the importance of culture, he was also able to illustrate life in the village. When
Irving said, There were some of the houses of the original settlers he showed the importance of
past in this village and how an interesting land can also have an interesting history. Irving also
showed histories yet to be discovered. When he said, ... Every hour of the day produces some
change in the magical hues and shapes of these mountains... (Irving 61). Another very exciting place
in Rip Van Winkle is the Kaatskill Mountains Irving describes these mountains with such beauty.
When Irving describes this mountain he shows them as changing, as if each time you looked at

Pablo Neruda Metaphors
Poems are a way for people to express their feelings in an art form that provides enough literary
clues and expressive qualities to help a reader understand what is being expressed. Pablo Neruda
became a legendary poet in his lifetime from 1904 to 1973 in Chile. He never failed to leave a
part of himself in each of his poems for the reader to either identify with or interpret, which is most
evident in his use of metaphor. His metaphors can be labelled as being open , for they provide
literal comparisons between two completely unrelated ideas, which leave room for personal
interpretation. Because of the confusion evident in those connections, the reader is immersed into
the metaphor and its resulting tone, mood, and connotative meanings. Pablo... Show more content

When Neruda comes to a conclusion about his feelings, speaking to his loved one, he tells her
that if she feels compelled every day to love him with implacable sweetness,/ if each day a
flower/ climbs up to your lips to seek me,/ ah my love, ah my own,/ in me all that fire is repeated,
/ in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,/ my love feeds on your love, beloved (Lines 38 44).
As the poem concludes in the sixth line, the reader is softly coasted to the end of the poem.
Neruda knows he may have to part from his lover one day, but he ensures that she understands
that as long as she continues to love him without his presence, he will feel her commitment and
continue to love her back. He describes her devotion using the description of a flower climbing
up to her lips to seek him. The flower is part of an open metaphor, since the meaning of the
statement can differ despite the flower being a clear symbol of love. Either the flower climbing
to her lips is literal, as she may kiss a flower in memory of Neruda when he is not around, or it
can be a representation of relentless, passionate love. After using the metaphor of a flower, the line

The Fall Of Humanity By Mikael Horton
In the article, The Fall of Humanity by Mikael Horton we learn the following: Adam s
representative headship accounts for the grandeur and the tragedy of human existence; it sets in
motion the great trial that sets the stage for the fulfillment of all things in Jesus, the faithful last
Adam. The covenant of creation is implicitly and explicitly taught in Scripture, integrating both the
legal and the familial aspects of humanity s natural relationship to God and illuminating the
character of Christ s gracious work. No doctrine is more significant for a biblical anthropology than
original sin, although none has been subject to more criticism. Human image bearing was not lost in

The distinction between righteousness before God and before others While Scripture (and
experience) credits unbelievers with a certain goodness, justice, and wisdom in human affairs, it is
the righteousness of God s own character that is the standard by which all will be judged.
2.The distinction between natural and moral ability Humans possess a natural ability to obey God
s commands but lack the moral ability to love God and neighbor in accord with God s righteous
character; our human capacities and abilities were not lost in the fall but twisted and deformed in
unrighteousness.
Apart from redemption in Christ, humans are not truly persons who bear the image of God.
While Lutherans also traditionally teach that the image of God was lost in the fall, differences
with the Reformed are much more semantic than substantial. This delay opens up a space for
God s own saving action, worked out in promise and fulfillment through redemptive history. God
s call to Abraham in Genesis 12 initiates the history of Israel, which is primarily the story of a
people called and kept by the gracious promises of God to the patriarchs. The history of Israel s

Mending Wall Robert Frost Analysis
Tierra Nick
Professor Parker
ENG 202 01
20 November 2017
An Analysis of Frost s Mending Wall Mending Wall written by Robert Frost seems to take place in
a countryside estate. The speaker and his neighbor are fixing a wall together, which separates their
properties. Mending Wall is a poem that describes the relationship between two neighbors and
idea of maintaining barriers. This poem reflects how people make physical barriers and emotional
barriers. A barrier is an object that keeps something in or the unwanted out. The speaker wants to
know why these barriers are up. If we make a psycho analysis of the speaker through the present
poem, we came to the conclusion that the neighbour is no one but the inner self of the speaker
(Srivastava 257). This wall is nothing, but the gap between human beings on various aspects
culturally, economically, and socially (Srivastava 257). The wallis a basis for the many differences
that people in our society have. Throughout this poem, we see the speaker struggle to find a reason
for having a wall that is separating him from the neighbor. The speaker is valuing innovation over
tradition. Although, the speaker is also a man of tradition he is trying to rebel against the norms
that frustrates him. The speaker does not want a relationship with his neighbor. In line 1, Frost
begins by saying Something there is that doesn t love a wall . Frost seems to refer to something as
anything in this world from humans to nature. This

their imprisonment by the Multi National United (MNU) Security Force. The mise en scГЁne of
the camps further captivates the viewer with images of destruction, barbed wire, and dilapidated
homes in a Johannesburg slum. The choice of the setting being Johannesburg sets a different
expectation for the viewer, as most Hollywood alien movies take place in major American cities;
the foreign setting clearly establishes the film s unique tone. This tone highlights the film s clear
allusion to the South African Apartheid by depicting comparable events. Mise en scГЁne plays a
huge role in this connection, as the camera rolls by a chain of signs that say, For Humans Only ,
No Non Human Loitering , No! Not Welcome . This communicates that the human population is
against the alien presence, preferring segregation instead of unity. These images have a direct
connection to South Africa s past, while also being reminiscent of the European refugee camps and
the Jim Crow laws in America.
In continuation, the mise en scГЁne used in the camps

The Word Folly In Advertising Campaign Analysis
In agonizing over the use of the word folly in its advertising campaign, it was necessary that New
Belgium Brewery (NBB) took adequate measures in ensuring that the operation was successful.
When campaigning, NBB s goal is to create a lasting impression on it s audience, and developing
the appropriate slogan, and utilizing the proper wordage, is vital to it s success. For example, the
Capital One campaign is known for it s What s in your wallet catch phrase, and State Farm is
known for it s Like a good neighbor slogan. In the late 1990 s, the three major companies that led
in advertisingwere Anheuser Busch, Miller BrewingCompany and Coors Brewing Company
(Wilcox, 2001, p. 149). NBB s struggle with using the word folly , was the fear of delivering an
erroneous interpretation of the quality of it s beer. In practicing the AIDA... Show more content on

I personally had to research the word folly , due to it not being a common word in my
vocabulary, to determine it s meaning. The word in itself, is not one I would use in an
advertisement; although it is descriptive of the effects of alcohol. Recalling the feeling of an out
of body experience , and a feeling of unreality, is somewhat the picture of drinking beer paints.
NBB using the word folly, is advertising that their product will allow you to experience the feeling
of foolishness and unreality. In foolishness, your thought process is distorted, which hinders
appropriate decisions, of which many drinkers enjoy. A study conducted revealed that beer
drinkers consume alcohol to relieve stress, relax their minds, and allow the opportunity to socialize
more openly with strangers (Jayne, Valentine, Holloway, 2010, p. 546). If the intent of NBB using
the word folly, is to entice beer drinkers to achieve the feeling of foolishness, I understand the

Essay on The National Response Framework
Having a basic understanding of community or national emergency plans can assist families in
disaster. This is especially true during the response phase. The National Response Framework
(NRF) is a great example of a national community reference. According to FEMA s publication,
The National Response Framework, from 2013, the NRF is a guide which describes the basis of
national response to any form of disaster. The NRF was developed from a long line of response
guidance plans. The first was the Federal Response plan which was replaced by the National
Response Plan. Then in 2008, the NRF was developed to make national response guidance more
efficient as well as to include practices created after Hurricane Katrina. The NRF is comprised...

The Incident Command System Today, the Incident Command System (ICS) is a major
component of NIMS and is widely used in emergency management response. However, this was
not always the case. According to David A. McEntire and Gregg Dawson, authors of the article,
The intergovernmental Context, ICS was originally developed by the fire service in 1970. Its
purpose was to assist in the command of wildfire events. It was unique because it standardized
operations, yet offered flexibility so that it could be used on any number of events, regardless of
size or type (McEntire Dawson, 2007, p. 63).
The book, National Incident Management System: Principles and Practice, by Dr. Donald W.
Walsh, Dr. Hank T. Christen, Christian E. Callsen, Geoffrey T. Miller, Paul M. Maniscalco,
Graydon C. Lord, and Neal J. Dolan, describes ICS as, ...a system for domestic incident
management that is based on an expandable, flexible structure... (Walsh, et al., 2012, p. 12). Due to
this flexibility, Walsh et al. state that ICS is commonly used by all levels of government as well as
by a number of non governmental agencies and the private sector. ICS is structured around five
sections. These sections are command, operations, planning, logistics, and finance/administration

Short-Term Memory Experience
The class was asked to do experiments on five different people who I know. We were asked to
test their short term memory. I thought it would be easy for my subjects to remember just 10
words. I wanted to see if age or education can change their short term memory outcome. On TV,
there is a reality game show Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader , well my son is in the fifth
grade. We sat at the kitchen table, I read aloud the words that were on the high value list. Then I
asked him to write the words that he could remember me saying. Then an hour later, I did the
next set of 10 words from the medium value list, then the low value list of words an hour or so
after. With my husband, I did the same thing has I did with my son. We sat at the table

The Solid Power Of Discrimination
The solid power of discrimination in modern Mexico stems from the construction of Mexican
society during the Spanish colonization in the 1500 s. One of the most powerful weapons
concealed by the European during the Conquest was hegemony. Hegemony is a basic principle of
social control, in which a ruling class dominates others ideologically, with a minimum of physical
force, by making its dominance seem natural and inevitable (Chasteen, 2001). Thus, by using
hegemony, the Spaniard convinced the native peoples of America to accept their place below the
Spaniards and forced them to see the conquerors as superior beings worthy of obedience. By
establishing their superiority, the Spaniards were able to control and dominate the indigenous
people, forcing the Spanish culture, religion, and language onto the population. As a result,
indigenous people started to distance themselves from their roots and their own people, creating a
damaging prejudice and bigotry that has been passed down through generations in Mexican
families. Indigenous people turned against each other. They mixed with the Spaniards creating
new castes, dividing the people and providing them with power and social status based on the
lightness of their skin. This feeling exists even today, white skinned people are seen as more
honest and trustworthy, thus deserving privileges and power; while the darker skinned people are
seen as a resemblance of the indigenous people indicating inferiority and implying a need to

What can Historians learn from this document about how as married man saw his role as head of
the family in mid 17th century?
The nature of this document is taken from the notebooks of Nehemiah Wallington (1818 1654).
An extract of the passages of my life (Booy, D. (end) 2007), written in 1662. The extract is one
of over fifty journals written over a twenty years period, of which seven originals remain. The
purpose of this document is described in Grell (2016 p.81) as a means of private and later public
record relating of Wallington s reflections of his religious struggle for salvation as a sinner that
believes he belongs to the Elect , those predestined for salvation. This autobiographical work
provided historians with primary source of evidence of the thoughts and beliefs of a Puritan married
man, and his religious responsibilities and relationship with his household.
To contextualize the text, Wallington s religious beliefs were taken from Protestant Lutheran and
Calvinistic influences that evolved in England as the Puritan movement, which was a non
conformist religious sects that had moved away from the Church of England Anglican practices and
rituals in search a purer, form of Protestantism. (Marshall, P. 2014 p.141). Lutheranism had idealized
marriage and the idea of holy families and Luther stated in The estate of marriage Brandt (1963)
that woman is a necessary evil, and that no household can be without such an evil . Wallington

The Social Aspect Of School
Experts of sociology recognize five social institutions that have occurred in other civilization s
example government, religion, education, economics, and family. Two specific functions of
schooling greatly influenced my identity; these functions are socialization and future preparation.
The social aspect of schoolis very important. This is how we meet others and how we learn the
ways of our society, religion, and our country. We learn what is appropriate and what is not, how to
behave with others and how to develop our values. The text mentions a hidden curriculum (p.416),
which is the unstated standards of behavior or teacher s expectations. School prepares us not only
for our educational future, but also our social future. Gender, race ethnicity, and social class make
an individual unique in who they will become and how they learn. Gender treatment affects a
person s education, treatment in society, and work environment. Gender discrimination can happen
to anyone, regardless of age, race and ethnicity. Gender is a main belief in society it categorizes
people into male and female, masculine and feminine. (Person learning) An individual who doesn t
emulate the stereotype of their gender roles, public reactions towards the individual can vary from
humiliating to violence. Having my peers, teachers and adults treat me different than others has the
ability to make you feel isolated and ostracized. Gender rolesocialization, which almost always

The Literature Of Climate-Induced Migration
Literature: Climate induced migration is not a new phenomenon that occurred abruptly; it has been
an adaptive strategy followed frequently by different people throughout history to withstand severe
climate conditions. Yet, because of the accumulation of climate hazards, many communities around
the world are highly likely to forcibly flee their lands searching safer zones. In this sense, Climate
induced refugees , is a term that is used to indicate individuals who forcibly flee their homeland
because of climate issues (McAdam, 2012). Although this phenomenon is gradually increasing, it
is still regarded as a marginal or peripheral problem despite its critical outcome. It may appear as
merely environmental; yet, it will generate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Bangladesh as an example, the tidal increase of water threatens citizens lives, pushes them to
flee their homes and undermine their resilience chances (Francis Maguire, 2016). Additionally, the
implications of sea level on coastal environments are predicted to be more critical, resulting in
land loss and abandonment of some islands and atolls with a necessity to relocate the local
inhabitants in other lands (Yotova, 2009). Therefore, it is crucial to consider how the mounting
effects of sea level rise do not solely push communities to abandon their lands, but also threaten
their valuable resources and undermine their resilience attempts. Moreover, The effects of sea
level rise are irreversible and pose in the long run, making migration the only adaptive solution
(Piguet PГ©coud, 2011). Thus, the gradual submersion of many countries and island states will
lead to a statelessness situation. Namely, the affected population would suffer from deprivation of
its statehood under the absence of a physical land (McLeman et al., 2015). Furthermore, those
ramshackle environments are susceptible to critical consequences on areas such as tourism, water
resources, food and fishing (Ashbindu et al., 2006). Subsequently, the main concern is how the
vulnerable states would cope with the tidal rise of sea level that swallows their lands gradually as
Hastrug Olwig (2012) suggested.

What The Bourgeoisie Essay
Title: What the bourgeoisie...produces...is its own grave diggers. Its fall and the victory of the
proletariat are equally inevitable. Consider this statement with reference to the pattern of class
struggle that Marx sees appearing under capitalism.
Through my analysis of Marx and Engel s The Communist Manifesto I have come to somewhat
agree with their view that in the end the Proletariat always come out on top. It seems to me that it
is nothing but a vicious circle . Marx comments that through our history there has always been
evidence of two classes, in other words: the rich and the poor, he makes the claim that there has
forever been the server and the served: ...we find almost everywhere a complicated arrangement of
society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marx discusses in this piece the ever changing nature of systems, from the Feudal system to the
manufacturing system to the Industrial system, The feudal system of industry...now no longer
sufficed...The manufacturing system took it s place...Thereupon, steam and machinery
revolutionised industrial production. (D.Mclellan, Marx, OUP 1977) pg 223. Therefore the middle
man was cut out, he was no longer important, the division between the powerful and powerless
grew to become much more. The place of manufacture was taken by the giant, Modern Industry, the
place of the industrial middle class, by industrial millionaires, the leaders of the whole industrial
armies, the modern bourgeois.
Marx, in my opinion alludes that the Bourgeois have ruined many of the more caring and loving
parts of our society. The family is an institution that has been present for many centuries, people
associate the family as the core of a person s development, the way a person is brought up
essentially shapes the rest of one s life, the person one become, the way one live one s life and the
way in which one s relationships develop in adult life. The bourgeoisie has torn away from the
family its sentimental veil, and has reduced the family relation to a mere money relation.
(D.Mclellan, Marx, OUP 1977) pg 224. I disagree with this statement, of course I grasp that money
is extremely important

Open Door Policy Persuasive Essay

Rock is usually being used for intense stuff such as working out and to get your blood pumping,

Reagan s Role During The Demise Of The Soviet Union
Reagan s Role in the Demise of the Soviet Union Entering into the 1980s, the Soviet system was
already in deep trouble. In order to match the US arms arsenal, it had put itself in a position,
whereby the Soviet economy was finding it difficult whether to first put bread on the table of a
common Russian or to match US in a tit for tat response. Though Gorbachev s intentions were to
strike a deal with the United States in order to put a halt to the arms race, which was straining the
Soviet economy at the seams; however, Reagan kept the pressure of the SDI or the Star Wars
programme on the Russians. He also encouraged Gorbachev to introduce more reforms, which
resulted into Glasnost and Perestroika. Reagan s famous speech at the... Show more content on

In my view, Gorbachev s trust on Reagan came to a point where he was ready to take the leap of
faith and that ensured a peaceful outcome of the cold war endgame. This all shows that how
powerful impact the Summits can have on the psyche of a leader of a nation. By the time Reagan
had gone, USSR unilaterally announced the cut in its defence arsenal in 1989, the Warsaw pact
countries were moving towards democratization and finally in December 1991 saw the final
enactment of the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Reykjavik Summit, October 1986: Reagan Gorbachev
(Gorbachev proposed phasing out nuclear weapons in return for US abandonment of SDI)
Although the Geneva summit was not a success, however it gave the opportunity to both the
leaders to size each other up. 1986 was not an easy year for Michael Gorbachev. When Ronald
Reagan proposed that the next two meetings should be held in Washington and Moscow,
Gorbachev forcefully demanded that a substantial Arms Control agreement should be signed.
However Reagan did not want to give the impression that in order to have a meeting with
Gorbachev, he had given concessions to him. Reagan therefore, refused to commit on an arms
control agreement in the following meeting. However in January 1986, Gorbachev made an offer
to Ronald Reagan which he could not refuse. In January of that year, Gorbachev

Designing A Scalable Workload Management System
2.4.1 Neutron Overview
Without including any network specific functionality, it would be possible to develop a scalable
workload management system. While the connectivity between compute nodes is required and also
for the external access, it is important to have network specific functionality, but it would be
possible to benefit from the existing networking infrastructure to allocate IP addresses and relay
data between nodes. However, the main problem with such an approach is the network management
system would not be able to separate traffic between users securely and efficiently when there will
be a multitenant environment[13]. Neutron is a part of OpenStack project focused on delivering
networking as a service and manages the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A simple model of virtual network, subnet, and port abstractions to define network resources are
the base for creating OpenStack Networking component. Similar to a VLAN in the physical
networking world, network in OpenStack is an isolated layer 2 segment. Subnet is a block of IP
version 4 or version 6 addresses, set as an address pool from which OpenStack can assign IP
addresses to virtual machines (VMs). Each subnet is stated as a Classless Inter Domain Routing
range[13].
2.4.2 Neutron Architecture
The main process of the openstack networking component is neutron server, which transmit user
requests from OpenStack Networking API to the configured plug in. There are three agents that
interact with the main neutron process though the message queue or the OpenStack Networking
API[9]:
Neutron dhcp agent: The main function of this agent is to provide Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol (DHCP) service to all tenant networks[9].
Neutron l3 agent: The main function of this agent is to translate and forward Layer3/Networking
address to enable external network access for VMs on the tenant networks[9].
Neutron * agent: This is an optional plug in agent, which is responsible of performing local virtual
switch configuration on each hypervisor[9].
When Nova launches a VM instance, the service communicates with OpenStack Networking in
order to plug each virtual network interface into a particular port.

The Bible Is True Essay
First: to suggest that the Bible is true is to advocate that what it means is true; moreover, what it
means is fashioned by the genres in which the Bible is spoken, the outlooks and its disposition it
takes regarding history and the techniques by which cultural contexts were shaped and the
meanings of the words that it uses. Second: to offer that the Bibleis true is to say that we can faith
in its content; we believe it to be guide to our faith. We would have to embrace the notion that
there are specific assertions about Gods faithfulness and how we should live our lives and
reciprocate. These contentions may appear somewhat intricate, but recognizing its intricacies is a
way not of evading commitment to the Bible s truth however of fully addressing to the complex
ways in which the Bible is true. Let s contemplate the rapport between truth and meaning: the truth
of a testimonial or a book hinges on what it means. Countless biblical scholars have worked for
eons to scrutinize and appraise the text of the Old Testament, the Apocrypha, and the New
Testament. The revelation of the Dead Sea confirmed that the Jewish and Christian researchers who
for hundreds of years duplicated, transcribed and passed along the documents that we call the Bible
did so devotedly with care and intention. It remains true that we almost definitely do not have any
documents or fragments of a manuscript that is the original writing of the document in question.
However, it is equally true that

The Influence of American Culture in the 1950s and 1960s...
Canada as a nation has been striving to characterize itself as more ?Canadian? for decades. This has
included numerous struggles and events such as protests, bans, and the creation of the Massey
Commission, to encourage national development in the arts, and support major companies like the
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and National Film Board (NFB). However, this has not
been an easy task for the Canadian government, as major influences from below the border (the
United States) have been captivating the Canadian audiences by large. American media has had a
momentous revolutionizing effect on Canada, even through efforts made to define Canada with its
own cultural identity.
Pop culture in the 1950s and 1960s began to spread and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media began to control the way they lived their lives, what they wore, what they listened to,
and even what they believed. After all, everyone wants to roll with the popular crowd.
The Canadian government could not possibly stand for further American conquest on their culture
and media. It was time to stop the inundation of Americanization before they had lost all original
material and their identity had vanished into the shadows of Canadian history. A suitable action
was taken by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), stripping as much American content
from the station as possible, leaving only what was necessary to satisfy the popular demand
(removing all American substance had its consequences, severe as losing money and audiences, and
ensuing in the downfall of the broadcasting industry due to the lack of well known content). This
would leave space for more Canadian programming, as a result fulfilling the promise of making
Canada more Canadian, taking into consideration even such a small modification.
The Canadian government?s plan to get rid of the great American culture influence was one of
many faults. There would be no way of carrying this out without disappointing much of the un
disturbed Canadian society, those who have grown comfortable with their surroundings and are
appreciative of everything the United States has had to

Becoming An Integral Part Of The Medical Technician
Ne razumijem! the first words I heard a 62 year old male patient shout in agonizing pain as he
lay on a bed in the crowded and busy Emergency Room of St. Francis Hospital in Chicago.
Recognizing it to be of my native Bosnian/Serbo Croatian language meaning I do not understand, I
entered the room as an emergency medical technician (EMT) on my first shift to translate.
Becoming an integral part of the medical team with this responsibility, I introduced myself and
began talking with the Croatian patient. Noticing tears in his eyes, I learned they were in part due
to the pain, but also from fear that he was going to die alone without anyone understanding his last
words. Holding his hand in emotional and physical support, I felt myself becoming a part of his
life as he expressed his gratitude for being with him since he had lost his immediate family during
the war in Bosnia and Croatia. With a sense of understanding, comfort, and trust developing, I
continued to hold his hand and progressed through the medical assessment.
Communicating his multiple symptoms to the physician, one specific description stood out to me: a
painful, ripping sensation in his lower back and abdomen. Recalling my training and medical
literature, this unique description and his medical history seemed consistent with a life threatening
abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Translating and expressing my concern to the physician, I
watched as he palpated the patient s abdomen and agreed with a possible AAA.

investigation also led to the discovery of false bookkeeping numbers and unethical lending
practices among its top executives. Ebber s did not perform this fraudulent action on his own.
Right by his side he had former CFO of WorldCom, Scott Sullivan who was sentenced to five
years in prison and David Myers, former director of General Accounting of WorldCom who was

Beowulf s Heroic Code
Beowulf remains one of the most important works of English literature though it was written
centuries ago. One reason for this fact is that many of the themes that it touches on are still
pertinent in today s extremely different society. One of the most prevalent themes found in
Beowulf is the importance of the heroic code. Much of this epic poem is dedicated to conveying
and exemplifying the heroic code which values such attributes as strength, courage and honor.
Conflicting with this ideology are other factors such as Christianity, and these tensions affect the
lives and decisions of the narrative s characters. Over the course of the poem, Beowulfmatures from
a gallant warrior into a wise leader. This transition illustrates that a sometimes conflicting code of
values goes along with each of his roles.
In Germanic societies, such as the one in which Beowulf takes place, there were heroic codes
which defined how a noble person should act. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning he is a brave fighter, but by the end, he has become a wise and noble king. This
transition shows that perhaps a different code is necessary to fulfill these different roles. These
sets of values illustrate early on in the poem the contrary outlooks of Beowulf and Hrothgar.
Early in the poem, Beowulf is young, brave and has no one to worry about but himself. Because
of this he can risk everything in his quest for personal glory. Hrothgar, on the other hand, is
responsible for the lives of many people, and therefore seeks their safety rather than his own
honor. Hrothgar s example becomes invaluable to Beowulf in preparation for the time when he
will take the throne. He learns that as a king, it is his duty to praise his warriors as well as protect
his people. Hrothgar emphasizes the importance of creating a stable environment. He also says that
having good relationships with one s own men, as well as with other groups, is

Making An Initial Visit After Receiving A Referral Within...
Summary The aim of this session was to introduce us to the process of making an initial visit
after receiving a referral within the role of a social worker. This was done with a small group
exercise involving role play. We were placed into groups of four and once in our groups we had
to divide ourselves into roles. There were three roles consisting of Service user, Social worker
and observer. We were then taken to one side with people from other groups whom had be given
the same role as ourselves and briefed on what it was we had to do. I was given the role of social
worker, therefore i was told that I had to plan and undertake an initial visit and given the receipt
of a referral. The referral consisted of concerns regarding a young boy, Max aged 2. The referral
was made by the child s nursery. They had concerns about his behavior and presentation, for
example, Max is often very tired, wears the same clothes for a number of consecutive days, is
greedy when given food and aggressive towards his peers. Alongside this, questions regarding
his mother, sally, were also raised. When staff at the nursery had spoken to her she seemed to
show littler concern regarding her son s behavior, she often smells strongly of alcohol and bruises
have been seen on her face. It was therefore my responsibility to take this information from this
receipt of referral on board before then undertaking my role within the role play of a social worker
making an initial visit. Initial Response As is

  • 2. Lyrical Ballads Captures The Hour of Feeling Essay Lyrical Ballads were written in a time of great change. They were dominated by the French Revolution and both Wordsworth and Coleridge felt great impact from this. There was disruption all over with the American War of Independence and other wars worldwide. Britain itself was changing rapidly due to colonial expansion, which brought new wealth, ideas and fashion, and there was much disturbance to both the people and the land with the act of enclosure, which may have meant more effective farming but less work. The introduction of the Poor Laws meant that landowners paid their remaining staff very little knowing that they would be supplemented by poor relief. However the conditions stated by the Laws before aid would be given were very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The middle of the eighteenth century was the height of what became known as the ?Age of Reason?, where people believed that thoughts and actions should be based on the material world. This supported John Locke?s theories that a populace could legitimately revolt against a tyrannical government. This would have greatly appealed to British people at a time where the government has become increasingly oppressive due to their fear of an uprising. The desire for stability was shown in the Church. However this gave many people more reason to feel the need for change as it said that salvation lay in duty and obedience and that children were merely blank pages to be educated and therefore gain decency and social responsibility. Dreams and imagination were distrusted and discouraged. Lyrical Ballads broke through all this, encouraging imagination and telling us to learn from the simplicity of children, therefore appealing to many people. The 1780?s saw lots of inspired political and social movements with people hoping to rid the world of slavery, promote women?s rights, protect workers, increase suffrage, promote tolerance and greater sexual freedom. Many of these issues are present in Lyrical Ballads. ?Mad Mother?, ?The Thorn?, ?The Female Vagrant? and ?The Forsaken Indian Woman? all call for better rights for women as it was society that really caused their suffering in these poems. In ?The Thorn? the woman may never had killed her child with more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Skyforger By Sampo Poem It is presented in this musical composition as an allegory of all the innovation and comforts of the modern world: by solving all of the basic needs of its owner, the Sampo turns him into an apathetic and lazy figure, which doesn t rely anymore on his capabilities. The Sampo is the perfect metaphor for the machine, whose work is inexorably replacing that of mankind. In the 1970 s progressive rock also drew inspiration from the verses of the Kalevala. A Finnish band by the same name was the first to be active in the genre, and was pretty popular in those years as a live band. This demand for a full refund with a fixed time limit provides better protection for consumers as the duration was previously unclear and legitimate claims could be rejected by businesses due to prior legislation only providing refunds if within a reasonable time. This time limit is provided for under Section 22(3) which gives the consumer the right to reject the goods. After 30 days, retailers will be given one opportunity to repair or replace the defective product and this is dependent on the customer. The CRA now incorporates a three tier system to resolve any problems between the consumer and the trader. The degree and nature of the remedies available will depend on the amount of time the consumer has owned the product or on the type of service provided. The first step is when the goods are not satisfactory, in which consumers are entitled to reject them, as provided under Section 22. A full refund can be claimed and must be given without undue delay and this has been covered under Section 20. One way students could benefit is that this schooling could provide them with an increased student centered instructional strategy during a year round school year. These could be activities that activate prior knowledge, hands on projects, in depth discussions, and multiple intelligences. These learning experiences are highly effective, but they are also time consuming. On a multi track schedule, students could also be exposed to smaller classroom sizes, which could benefit the student giving them more time to themselves, and to their assigned teacher for extra instruction. Under a year round schedule, the students benefit by having smaller breaks, meaning they can quickly snap back to previously learned information. When information is stored, but not used for an extended period of time, anyone can lose that information. Due to the shorter breaks, students may find it difficult to find a summer job, or a job at all, but there are jobs that work with students or maybe just limit their time at the workplace. These are a few characteristics found in a national mythology. A national mythology is a body or collection of myths belonging to a people that highlight the nation s values and ideals, celebrates its heroes and commemorates its defining events. In the time after the American Revolutionary War people were very excited to have freedom and some chose to show this pride and excitement through the writing of the crazy legends known as national mythology. In Rip Van Winkleby Washington Irving, he creates a national mythology through an incredible experience of the main character, Rip Van Winkle. The use of remarkable characters, mysterious events, and exciting places in Rip Van Winkle highlights the nation s values and ideals, commemorates its defining events, and celebrates its heroes. Rip Van Winkle was based right around the time of revolutionary America, one exciting place within the story was a quaint little village full of life, color, and culture. ...There were some of the houses of the original settlers standing within a few years, with lattice windows, gable fronts surmounted with weathercocks, and built of small yellow bricks brought from Holland (Irving 62). When Irving described this village he was sure to include the heritage found within this small mountain town, the brightly colored yellow bricks from Holland and lattice windows, each detail shows just how important culture was in early American lives. Irving was not only able to show the importance of culture, he was also able to illustrate life in the village. When Irving said, There were some of the houses of the original settlers he showed the importance of past in this village and how an interesting land can also have an interesting history. Irving also showed histories yet to be discovered. When he said, ... Every hour of the day produces some change in the magical hues and shapes of these mountains... (Irving 61). Pablo Neruda Metaphors Poems are a way for people to express their feelings in an art form that provides enough literary clues and expressive qualities to help a reader understand what is being expressed. Pablo Neruda became a legendary poet in his lifetime from 1904 to 1973 in Chile. He never failed to leave a part of himself in each of his poems for the reader to either identify with or interpret, which is most evident in his use of metaphor. His metaphors can be labelled as being open , for they provide literal comparisons between two completely unrelated ideas, which leave room for personal interpretation. The Fall Of Humanity By Mikael Horton In the article, The Fall of Humanity by Mikael Horton we learn the following: Adam s representative headship accounts for the grandeur and the tragedy of human existence; it sets in motion the great trial that sets the stage for the fulfillment of all things in Jesus, the faithful last Adam. The covenant of creation is implicitly and explicitly taught in Scripture, integrating both the legal and the familial aspects of humanity s natural relationship to God and illuminating the character of Christ s gracious work. The distinction between righteousness before God and before others While Scripture (and experience) credits unbelievers with a certain goodness, justice, and wisdom in human affairs, it is the righteousness of God s own character that is the standard by which all will be judged. 2.The distinction between natural and moral ability Humans possess a natural ability to obey God s commands but lack the moral ability to love God and neighbor in accord with God s righteous character; our human capacities and abilities were not lost in the fall but twisted and deformed in unrighteousness. Apart from redemption in Christ, humans are not truly persons who bear the image of God. While Lutherans also traditionally teach that the image of God was lost in the fall, differences with the Reformed are much more semantic than substantial. This delay opens up a space for God s own saving action, worked out in promise and fulfillment through redemptive history. • 17. Mending Wall Robert Frost Analysis Tierra Nick Professor Parker ENG 202 01 20 November 2017 An Analysis of Frost s Mending Wall Mending Wall written by Robert Frost seems to take place in a countryside estate. The speaker and his neighbor are fixing a wall together, which separates their properties. Mending Wall is a poem that describes the relationship between two neighbors and idea of maintaining barriers. This poem reflects how people make physical barriers and emotional barriers. A barrier is an object that keeps something in or the unwanted out. The speaker wants to know why these barriers are up. If we make a psycho analysis of the speaker through the present poem, we came to the conclusion that the neighbour is no one but the inner self of the speaker (Srivastava 257). This wall is nothing, but the gap between human beings on various aspects culturally, economically, and socially (Srivastava 257). The wallis a basis for the many differences that people in our society have. Throughout this poem, we see the speaker struggle to find a reason for having a wall that is separating him from the neighbor. The speaker is valuing innovation over tradition. Although, the speaker is also a man of tradition he is trying to rebel against the norms that frustrates him. The speaker does not want a relationship with his neighbor. In line 1, Frost begins by saying Something there is that doesn t love a wall . Frost seems to refer to something as anything in this world from humans to nature. This ... • 18. Film Analysis Of Neill Blomkamp s District 9 Neill Blomkamp s District 9 transcends the bounds of Hollywood s usual, clichГ© alien movies. Through its imposing cinematography and mise en scГЁne, an element of compassion is woven in throughout District 9, inverting the audience s expectations with a shocking, novel narrative. The first fifteen minutes open up in a mockumentary style, establishing the environment with interviews, news footage, corporation logs, and found footage of the alien ship hovering over Johannesburg. The films opening scene communicates that the extraterrestrials first arrived during the 1980 s and have been living amongst the people of Johannesburg as an unwelcome threat ever since. However, as film s narrative progressively informs the viewer, their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The small glimpse of the aliens harboring their ship made them appear horrifying; whereas, when they properly make their first appearance in the camps, they are accurately shown as pathetic and sickly. The different mise en scГЁne in these two shots uncovers the two interpretations of the supposed threat. This informs the audience s perception of the aliens as vulnerable and lost due to their imprisonment by the Multi National United (MNU) Security Force. The mise en scГЁne of the camps further captivates the viewer with images of destruction, barbed wire, and dilapidated homes in a Johannesburg slum. The choice of the setting being Johannesburg sets a different expectation for the viewer, as most Hollywood alien movies take place in major American cities; the foreign setting clearly establishes the film s unique tone. This tone highlights the film s clear allusion to the South African Apartheid by depicting comparable events. Mise en scГЁne plays a huge role in this connection, as the camera rolls by a chain of signs that say, For Humans Only , No Non Human Loitering , No! Not Welcome . This communicates that the human population is against the alien presence, preferring segregation instead of unity. These images have a direct connection to South Africa s past, while also being reminiscent of the European refugee camps and the Jim Crow laws in America. In continuation, the mise en scГЁne used in the camps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Word Folly In Advertising Campaign Analysis In agonizing over the use of the word folly in its advertising campaign, it was necessary that New Belgium Brewery (NBB) took adequate measures in ensuring that the operation was successful. When campaigning, NBB s goal is to create a lasting impression on it s audience, and developing the appropriate slogan, and utilizing the proper wordage, is vital to it s success. For example, the Capital One campaign is known for it s What s in your wallet catch phrase, and State Farm is known for it s Like a good neighbor slogan. In the late 1990 s, the three major companies that led in advertisingwere Anheuser Busch, Miller BrewingCompany and Coors Brewing Company (Wilcox, 2001, p. 149). The Incident Command System Today, the Incident Command System (ICS) is a major component of NIMS and is widely used in emergency management response. However, this was not always the case. According to David A. McEntire and Gregg Dawson, authors of the article, The intergovernmental Context, ICS was originally developed by the fire service in 1970. Its purpose was to assist in the command of wildfire events. It was unique because it standardized operations, yet offered flexibility so that it could be used on any number of events, regardless of size or type (McEntire Dawson, 2007, p. 63). The book, National Incident Management System: Principles and Practice, by Dr. Donald W. Walsh, Dr. Hank T. Christen, Christian E. Callsen, Geoffrey T. Miller, Paul M. Maniscalco, Graydon C. Lord, and Neal J. Dolan, describes ICS as, ...a system for domestic incident management that is based on an expandable, flexible structure... (Walsh, et al., 2012, p. 12). Due to this flexibility, Walsh et al. state that ICS is commonly used by all levels of government as well as by a number of non governmental agencies and the private sector. • 22. The Solid Power Of Discrimination The solid power of discrimination in modern Mexico stems from the construction of Mexican society during the Spanish colonization in the 1500 s. One of the most powerful weapons concealed by the European during the Conquest was hegemony. Hegemony is a basic principle of social control, in which a ruling class dominates others ideologically, with a minimum of physical force, by making its dominance seem natural and inevitable (Chasteen, 2001). Thus, by using hegemony, the Spaniard convinced the native peoples of America to accept their place below the Spaniards and forced them to see the conquerors as superior beings worthy of obedience. By establishing their superiority, the Spaniards were able to control and dominate the indigenous people, forcing the Spanish culture, religion, and language onto the population. As a result, indigenous people started to distance themselves from their roots and their own people, creating a damaging prejudice and bigotry that has been passed down through generations in Mexican families. Indigenous people turned against each other. They mixed with the Spaniards creating new castes, dividing the people and providing them with power and social status based on the lightness of their skin. This feeling exists even today, white skinned people are seen as more honest and trustworthy, thus deserving privileges and power; while the darker skinned people are seen as a resemblance of the indigenous people indicating inferiority and implying a need to ... The extract is one of over fifty journals written over a twenty years period, of which seven originals remain. The purpose of this document is described in Grell (2016 p.81) as a means of private and later public record relating of Wallington s reflections of his religious struggle for salvation as a sinner that believes he belongs to the Elect , those predestined for salvation. This autobiographical work provided historians with primary source of evidence of the thoughts and beliefs of a Puritan married man, and his religious responsibilities and relationship with his household. To contextualize the text, Wallington s religious beliefs were taken from Protestant Lutheran and Calvinistic influences that evolved in England as the Puritan movement, which was a non conformist religious sects that had moved away from the Church of England Anglican practices and rituals in search a purer, form of Protestantism. (Marshall, P. 2014 p.141). Two specific functions of schooling greatly influenced my identity; these functions are socialization and future preparation. The social aspect of schoolis very important. This is how we meet others and how we learn the ways of our society, religion, and our country. We learn what is appropriate and what is not, how to behave with others and how to develop our values. The text mentions a hidden curriculum (p.416), which is the unstated standards of behavior or teacher s expectations. School prepares us not only for our educational future, but also our social future. Gender, race ethnicity, and social class make an individual unique in who they will become and how they learn. In this sense, Climate induced refugees , is a term that is used to indicate individuals who forcibly flee their homeland because of climate issues (McAdam, 2012). Additionally, the implications of sea level on coastal environments are predicted to be more critical, resulting in land loss and abandonment of some islands and atolls with a necessity to relocate the local inhabitants in other lands (Yotova, 2009). Therefore, it is crucial to consider how the mounting effects of sea level rise do not solely push communities to abandon their lands, but also threaten their valuable resources and undermine their resilience attempts. Moreover, The effects of sea level rise are irreversible and pose in the long run, making migration the only adaptive solution (Piguet PГ©coud, 2011). Consider this statement with reference to the pattern of class struggle that Marx sees appearing under capitalism. Through my analysis of Marx and Engel s The Communist Manifesto I have come to somewhat agree with their view that in the end the Proletariat always come out on top. It seems to me that it is nothing but a vicious circle . Marx comments that through our history there has always been evidence of two classes, in other words: the rich and the poor, he makes the claim that there has forever been the server and the served: ...we find almost everywhere a complicated arrangement of society ... The place of manufacture was taken by the giant, Modern Industry, the place of the industrial middle class, by industrial millionaires, the leaders of the whole industrial armies, the modern bourgeois. Marx, in my opinion alludes that the Bourgeois have ruined many of the more caring and loving parts of our society. The family is an institution that has been present for many centuries, people associate the family as the core of a person s development, the way a person is brought up essentially shapes the rest of one s life, the person one become, the way one live one s life and the way in which one s relationships develop in adult life. The bourgeoisie has torn away from the family its sentimental veil, and has reduced the family relation to a mere money relation. (D.Mclellan, Marx, OUP 1977) pg 224. To many, that is true, but the genre might be a reason when listening to music while doing work. So, I am wondering if classical music can help you do work better than rock or the other way around. In order to match the US arms arsenal, it had put itself in a position, whereby the Soviet economy was finding it difficult whether to first put bread on the table of a common Russian or to match US in a tit for tat response. Though Gorbachev s intentions were to strike a deal with the United States in order to put a halt to the arms race, which was straining the Soviet economy at the seams; however, Reagan kept the pressure of the SDI or the Star Wars programme on the Russians. He also encouraged Gorbachev to introduce more reforms, which resulted into Glasnost and Perestroika. Reagan s famous speech at the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my view, Gorbachev s trust on Reagan came to a point where he was ready to take the leap of faith and that ensured a peaceful outcome of the cold war endgame. This all shows that how powerful impact the Summits can have on the psyche of a leader of a nation. By the time Reagan had gone, USSR unilaterally announced the cut in its defence arsenal in 1989, the Warsaw pact countries were moving towards democratization and finally in December 1991 saw the final enactment of the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Reykjavik Summit, October 1986: Reagan Gorbachev (Gorbachev proposed phasing out nuclear weapons in return for US abandonment of SDI) Although the Geneva summit was not a success, however it gave the opportunity to both the leaders to size each other up. 1986 was not an easy year for Michael Gorbachev. When Ronald Reagan proposed that the next two meetings should be held in Washington and Moscow, Gorbachev forcefully demanded that a substantial Arms Control agreement should be signed. However Reagan did not want to give the impression that in order to have a meeting with Gorbachev, he had given concessions to him. Reagan therefore, refused to commit on an arms control agreement in the following meeting. However in January 1986, Gorbachev made an offer to Ronald Reagan which he could not refuse. • 41. Designing A Scalable Workload Management System 2.4.1 Neutron Overview Without including any network specific functionality, it would be possible to develop a scalable workload management system. While the connectivity between compute nodes is required and also for the external access, it is important to have network specific functionality, but it would be possible to benefit from the existing networking infrastructure to allocate IP addresses and relay data between nodes. However, the main problem with such an approach is the network management system would not be able to separate traffic between users securely and efficiently when there will be a multitenant environment[13]. Neutron is a part of OpenStack project focused on delivering networking as a service and manages the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A simple model of virtual network, subnet, and port abstractions to define network resources are the base for creating OpenStack Networking component. Similar to a VLAN in the physical networking world, network in OpenStack is an isolated layer 2 segment. Subnet is a block of IP version 4 or version 6 addresses, set as an address pool from which OpenStack can assign IP addresses to virtual machines (VMs). Each subnet is stated as a Classless Inter Domain Routing range[13]. 2.4.2 Neutron Architecture The main process of the openstack networking component is neutron server, which transmit user requests from OpenStack Networking API to the configured plug in. There are three agents that interact with the main neutron process though the message queue or the OpenStack Networking API[9]: Neutron dhcp agent: The main function of this agent is to provide Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service to all tenant networks[9]. Neutron l3 agent: The main function of this agent is to translate and forward Layer3/Networking address to enable external network access for VMs on the tenant networks[9]. Neutron * agent: This is an optional plug in agent, which is responsible of performing local virtual switch configuration on each hypervisor[9]. When Nova launches a VM instance, the service communicates with OpenStack Networking in order to plug each virtual network interface into a particular port. 2.4.3 How Neutron works ... • 42. The Bible Is True Essay First: to suggest that the Bible is true is to advocate that what it means is true; moreover, what it means is fashioned by the genres in which the Bible is spoken, the outlooks and its disposition it takes regarding history and the techniques by which cultural contexts were shaped and the meanings of the words that it uses. Second: to offer that the Bibleis true is to say that we can faith in its content; we believe it to be guide to our faith. We would have to embrace the notion that there are specific assertions about Gods faithfulness and how we should live our lives and reciprocate. These contentions may appear somewhat intricate, but recognizing its intricacies is a way not of evading commitment to the Bible s truth however of fully addressing to the complex ways in which the Bible is true. Let s contemplate the rapport between truth and meaning: the truth of a testimonial or a book hinges on what it means. Countless biblical scholars have worked for eons to scrutinize and appraise the text of the Old Testament, the Apocrypha, and the New Testament. The revelation of the Dead Sea confirmed that the Jewish and Christian researchers who for hundreds of years duplicated, transcribed and passed along the documents that we call the Bible did so devotedly with care and intention. It remains true that we almost definitely do not have any documents or fragments of a manuscript that is the original writing of the document in question. However, it is equally true that ... • 43. The Influence of American Culture in the 1950s and 1960s... Canada as a nation has been striving to characterize itself as more ?Canadian? for decades. This has included numerous struggles and events such as protests, bans, and the creation of the Massey Commission, to encourage national development in the arts, and support major companies like the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and National Film Board (NFB). However, this has not been an easy task for the Canadian government, as major influences from below the border (the United States) have been captivating the Canadian audiences by large. American media has had a momentous revolutionizing effect on Canada, even through efforts made to define Canada with its own cultural identity. The media began to control the way they lived their lives, what they wore, what they listened to, and even what they believed. After all, everyone wants to roll with the popular crowd. The Canadian government could not possibly stand for further American conquest on their culture and media. It was time to stop the inundation of Americanization before they had lost all original material and their identity had vanished into the shadows of Canadian history. A suitable action was taken by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), stripping as much American content from the station as possible, leaving only what was necessary to satisfy the popular demand (removing all American substance had its consequences, severe as losing money and audiences, and ensuing in the downfall of the broadcasting industry due to the lack of well known content). This would leave space for more Canadian programming, as a result fulfilling the promise of making Canada more Canadian, taking into consideration even such a small modification. The Canadian government?s plan to get rid of the great American culture influence was one of many faults. There would be no way of carrying this out without disappointing much of the un disturbed Canadian society, those who have grown comfortable with their surroundings and are appreciative of everything the United States has had to ... Becoming An Integral Part Of The Medical Technician Ne razumijem! the first words I heard a 62 year old male patient shout in agonizing pain as he lay on a bed in the crowded and busy Emergency Room of St. Francis Hospital in Chicago. Recognizing it to be of my native Bosnian/Serbo Croatian language meaning I do not understand, I entered the room as an emergency medical technician (EMT) on my first shift to translate. Becoming an integral part of the medical team with this responsibility, I introduced myself and began talking with the Croatian patient. Noticing tears in his eyes, I learned they were in part due to the pain, but also from fear that he was going to die alone without anyone understanding his last words. Holding his hand in emotional and physical support, I felt myself becoming a part of his life as he expressed his gratitude for being with him since he had lost his immediate family during the war in Bosnia and Croatia. With a sense of understanding, comfort, and trust developing, I continued to hold his hand and progressed through the medical assessment. Communicating his multiple symptoms to the physician, one specific description stood out to me: a painful, ripping sensation in his lower back and abdomen. Recalling my training and medical literature, this unique description and his medical history seemed consistent with a life threatening abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Translating and expressing my concern to the physician, I watched as he palpated the patient s abdomen and agreed with a possible AAA. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Beowulf s Heroic Code Beowulf remains one of the most important works of English literature though it was written centuries ago. One reason for this fact is that many of the themes that it touches on are still pertinent in today s extremely different society. One of the most prevalent themes found in Beowulf is the importance of the heroic code. Much of this epic poem is dedicated to conveying and exemplifying the heroic code which values such attributes as strength, courage and honor. Conflicting with this ideology are other factors such as Christianity, and these tensions affect the lives and decisions of the narrative s characters. Over the course of the poem, Beowulfmatures from a gallant warrior into a wise leader. This transition illustrates that a sometimes conflicting code of values goes along with each of his roles. In Germanic societies, such as the one in which Beowulf takes place, there were heroic codes which defined how a noble person should act. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning he is a brave fighter, but by the end, he has become a wise and noble king. This transition shows that perhaps a different code is necessary to fulfill these different roles. These sets of values illustrate early on in the poem the contrary outlooks of Beowulf and Hrothgar. Early in the poem, Beowulf is young, brave and has no one to worry about but himself. Because of this he can risk everything in his quest for personal glory. Hrothgar, on the other hand, is responsible for the lives of many people, and therefore seeks their safety rather than his own honor. Hrothgar s example becomes invaluable to Beowulf in preparation for the time when he will take the throne. He learns that as a king, it is his duty to praise his warriors as well as protect his people. Hrothgar emphasizes the importance of creating a stable environment. • 47. Making An Initial Visit After Receiving A Referral Within... Summary The aim of this session was to introduce us to the process of making an initial visit after receiving a referral within the role of a social worker. This was done with a small group exercise involving role play. We were placed into groups of four and once in our groups we had to divide ourselves into roles. There were three roles consisting of Service user, Social worker and observer. We were then taken to one side with people from other groups whom had be given the same role as ourselves and briefed on what it was we had to do. I was given the role of social worker, therefore i was told that I had to plan and undertake an initial visit and given the receipt of a referral. The referral consisted of concerns regarding a young boy, Max aged 2. The referral was made by the child s nursery. They had concerns about his behavior and presentation, for example, Max is often very tired, wears the same clothes for a number of consecutive days, is greedy when given food and aggressive towards his peers. Alongside this, questions regarding his mother, sally, were also raised. When staff at the nursery had spoken to her she seemed to show littler concern regarding her son s behavior, she often smells strongly of alcohol and bruises have been seen on her face. It was therefore my responsibility to take this information from this receipt of referral on board before then undertaking my role within the role play of a social worker making an initial visit.
