Pros And Cons Of Senior Care Texas And Companionship
Senior Care Texas and Companionship
As we age, there are many positive events that happen in our lives. We get to witness the marriage
of our children, the birth of our grandchildren or great grandchildren, and hopefully enjoy the fruits
of our labor during retirement. There are some negative parts to aging as well. Friends and family
pass on or move away, the excitement of the workforce is replaced with endless numbers of
unscheduled days, and even your closest allies, such as a spouse, may move on in divorce or death.
The result of these changes, despite the many positives, is loneliness.
According to studies by the University of California at San Francisco, nearly half of seniors report
having regular feelings of loneliness. Surprisingly, half of those seniors ... Show more content on

The University of Rochester Medical Center found that social interaction is important for health,
and loneliness leads to medical problems. One study found fewer colds, lower blood pressure, and
lower heart rates in seniors with strong social ties. Statistics show that marriage, perhaps the
strongest tie, adds years to life expectancy. And suicide, mental illness and alcoholism rates are
much lower when people feel a sense of belonging.
Studies at UC San Francisco support the Rochester findings. They found that seniors over 60
who experience prolonged bouts of loneliness have a 45 percent increase in their risk of death.
They were also nearly 60 percent more likely to have mental and physical problems develop as a
result of the loneliness.
Supporting the idea that more people does not necessarily resolve loneliness, Dr. T. Byram
Karasu Albert Einstein College of Medicine s chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences found
that Even when they re being taken care of by family caregivers, there is often little attention paid
to deep, engaging communication between a senior and the rest of the family. The result is a
feeling of being pushed aside and chronic

The Human Society Of San Diego
As we grow up in life, we often wonder what it would be like to have a pet. Some parents will go
out to the far limits to get that one of a kind dog. Others will just tell their children that having an
animal takes responsibility. Whether it is one or the other, we still have that thought in our head.
In this paper, I want to look at one place where a child or parents can get that chance to make that
dream of having a pet at home a reality. I welcome you to the humane societyof San Diego. I often
said to myself, this is where are the stray animals go. Not true, when you take a look some maybe
stray but others come from a home that just plain got tired of them. Let me show you the journey
of what the humane society of San Diego can do when it comes to looking at that pet to come home
with you.
History of the San Diego Human Society As we all know, we must look first at the past of the
humane society. San Diego is just one of many that are around and offer so many. The question
is, where did they get there beginnings from? Well lets go back to March of 1880, when San
Diego was still in it s beginning phases of growing. This was the start of the San Diego humane
society. Looking that far back, you can see that even than the importance of animals were looked at.
From that time it was the start of what would be a huge organization that was solely for the
treatment of the animal. From that day in March, the humane society has made its promise to
training not only

Compare And Contrast Frank And Leon
Frank and his brother Leon have things in common as well as differences in their personality
fueled by the different childhood experiences they have undergone. The childhood experiences
have an impact on how people behave towards the others and themselves in their lives later on.
Frank had autism while Leon was a sociopath. Both Leon and Frank had affected interpersonal
skills and world mostly keep to themselves. Both would no find the need to communicate with the
other people. For Frank, he could not realize that people don t know what he already knows. The
lack of the cognizance of the difference kept him from communicating. For Leon, some hatred came

He was born of a fifteen year old mother who left him with her mother, Justin s grandmother, at a
tender age of only two months old. Unfortunately, Justin s grandmother was hospitalized and
passed on when the boy was eleven months old. Arthur, the grandmother s boyfriend was left in
custody of Justin. He worked like a dog breeder, and so he put Justin in a dog s cage, after the
child protection services failed to place Justin elsewhere, such as another family. At two, Justin
was diagnosed with severe brain damage. He was unlikely to get better. In treatment, Dr. Perry
and the other clinicians took the following steps in Justin s case. The first step was Dr. Perry s
familiarization with Justin. He walked over to the crib he was in and took off the lab coat and the
tie. The actions were to reduce the possibilities of the doctor threatening Justin since the boy was
not conversant with the jackets and the neckties. The second step towards Justin s therapy was to
move him to a private room to the hospital where a given number of clinicians would attend to him.
The relocation was meant to assure the boy of no harm during the healing

Introducing Systems Theory, Marriage And Family Therapists
Introducing Systems Theory
Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) in training are tasked with helping a family work through
conflict and arrive and more intimate and interdependent relationships, which can seem daunting or
maybe even terrifying. However, the interaction patterns that show up in families can find some
context and clarity for a therapist who knows systems theory. Systems theory suggests that
individuals cannot be understood in isolation from their family context because families create
relational processes and generate a sequence of interactions and behaviors in order to maintain
dynamic stability of the self regulating family system (Nichols, 2013, pp. 58 59). How does this
general systems theory help an MFT guide a family in therapy? In this paper I will take three
systems theory principles and apply them to a movie in order to demonstrate how it provides a
language and context for MFTs, thus making it an essential tool in family therapy.
I will begin with a brief synopsis of Demme s movie, Rachel Getting Married (2008), and its
primary family characters. Next I will discuss three key principles of systems theory and use the
movie characters interactions as examples for each corresponding principle. In the conclusion I will
share my learning experience in doing this assignment.
The Movie Synopsis
Rachel Getting Married (Demme, 2008) is about Kym, the estranged daughter, return home to her

Theme Of Revenge In Medea

Analysis Paper 2
The Price One Must Pay
According to Samuel Johnson, Revenge is an act of passion; vengeance of justice. Injuries are
revenged; crimes are avenged. Medea is an ancient Greek tragedy written by Euripides. It was first
produced in 431 BC and it is based on the myth of Jason and Medea. The themes prevalent
throughout the play is revenge and loss of innocence. It symbolizes how the act of revenge can
cause you to betray your loved ones because of your pride and selfishness. Your actions whether it s
premeditated or not, carry consequences that must be recognized. Even though in the play Medea,
the characters lack any self conscious recognition for their own ... Show more content on

If their husband decides to divorce them they can be easily discarded without a home. But while
together they must endure the pains of childbirth, and they are kept from participating in any sort
of public life. Unlike men, who can engage in business, sport, and war. That why Medea believes
that Jason should suffer for the suffering he has inflicted upon her as a woman. Especially since
Jason banish her and her children from Corinth.
How can you claim that you love someone but banish them to become homeless and helpless?
Your own flesh and blood. That shows how children nor wife were important in ancient Greek
society. Children were born just so that the can take over the fathers place and take care of them
when they get old. Even though the parents don t raise the child, the nurse does.
The most controversial character is Medea, she chose to murder her own two children just to
cause pain to Jason. The children represent innocence and purity. Children are represented as
free of any sins or impurities because their minds do not have the capacity to fully comprehend
evil as adults do. The nurse is fearful for the boy s life, so she tries her best to keep them out of
cite from their mother. The nurse wishes Medea would leave the kids out of her and Jason
problem they are not the ones to blame. But the nurse also states that she was brought up willful
and powerful in a great house with no rules.

The Controversy Of Immigration Reform
Furthermore, your immigration reform plan has far too many flaws and it is absurd. It is
incredibly cruel to want to end birth right citizenships, require that Americans get jobs over
immigrants, and enhance penalties for overstaying a visa. This country has always been a land of
immigration, and suddenly deciding to deny foreigners rights is immoral and uncalled for. We
have economic and religious freedoms, the freedom of speech, and the right of suffrage. With your
reform plan, freedom will cease to exist. This is exactly the opposite of what our founding fathers
would have wanted. Racismcontinues to be a rampant problem in America, and your proposals will
only further the issues we have. Latinos, contrary to your beliefs, are hard... Show more content on

This name has been associated with our country since its beginnings, and you have disrespected
it. My grandfather came from a small town in Southern Italy. When he arrived in America, he
spoke very broken English, his first job was working as a valet attendant, and he eventually
worked his way up to an insurance salesman. When he first began, all of the people in his office
treated him disrespectfully and made fun of the way he spoke. Despite the setbacks, he became one
of the best insurance salesmen in the United States and retired at age 45. We are the land of
opportunity, the land of the free, and the home of the brave. Your policies are the opposite of what
America stands for. For instance, Luis E. Miramontes, a man with an ethnicity that is affected by
your harshness, became a prominent and innovative Mexican American. He was a chemist that
was the co inventor of the progestin norethindrone used in one of the first three contraceptives. In
1964, the U.S. Department of Patents chose his contraceptive pill as one of the forty registered
most important inventions between 1794 and 1964, and the pill was included in the USA Inventor

engineers of all time, and he has every right to be able to proudly call himself an American. As you
can see, immigration is great for our country because it helps bring innovative ideas, business
contracts to other markets, and it helps stimulate the

The Negative Personality Of Albert Einstein
THE CREATIVE PERSONALITY OF ALBERT EINSTEIN
He is renown as the Father of solid state Physics , the famous 20th century scientist and a symbol of
intellectual independence and leadership (Cardona, 2005). Albert Einstein the Jewish
mathematician and physicist was born on March 14,1879 at Ulm, in WГјrttemberg, Germany. He is
acclaimed for his theories in physics specifically the theory of special relativity, the general theory
of relativity and the photoelectric effect (Howell, 2017). His special relativity theory summarised in
the equation E=mc2 is widely known even among those who don t understand physics. It s these
theories that earned him the international accreditation and acclaim in physics as the Nobel Prize
winner in 1921(Parker 2007).
According to the 4P s of creativity, the press which is the external (structural) social environment
one grows up in largely contributes to one accessing information contained in a given domain
(Csikszentmihalyi, 1988). This is clearly demonstrated in Einstein s early life. His father and uncle
were engineers who ran a company that made electrical equipment based on direct current (Howell,
2017), thus he was exposed to so much the factual knowledge and underlying principles and tenets
of physics, machines and equipment s at his father s workshop.
Second to this is his personality, the internal (subjective) factors that triggers creativity according to
(Csikszentmihalyi 2014). Einstein was very curios and inquisitive by nature. The

So until Charles III gave them the citizenship, they had a very challenging life and that is reflected
in Flamenco. Katz stated, they developed a song repertory of a special character, the essence of
which, rooted in poverty, expressed the plight of their existence and gave impetus to poetic and
musical forms that had become prominent around the mid 18th century. (n.d.)
As the gypsies continued to settle in and live freely, flamenco became a significant musical genre
in Andalucia and it became well known for entertainment in the cafГ©s cantates (singing cabarets)
built in different cities. Flamenco became more and more popular as generations go by, until even
the non gypsies perform this musical genre as well. Flamenco has genuineness in its style of music.
Manuel stated, flamenco songs typically alternate verses with a catchy, singable refrain and pre
arranged instrumental interludes. The latter generally foreground guitar, but the accompaniment as
a whole often includes bass, percussion, and perhaps other instruments. (2010, p. 115)
There are three main types that are presented in the scales used in flamenco. First is the
Medieval Phrygian or is also called as Greek Dorian. Phrygian is diatonic according to Johnson
(1993), which means Phrygian has a seven note scale that has an octave span filled by 5 tones or 2
semitones (Drabkin, n.d.). The second type is a modified scale resembling the Arab maqam Hijazi
and the third type is a bimodal configuration alternating

My Last Day In High School
It was a Thursday night in the middle of March, as I pull into the school parking lot. I can see
that there are mounds of suitcases and over stuffed duffle bags lined up on the faint lit
sidewalks. I jumped out of the car with eagerness when I saw my friends waiting for me by the
curb line. We leap with joy because; we knew that this was going to be one of the best trips of our
final year in high school. The tripmeant so much to us; we needed to be away from stress filled
environment that is known as school.
Before we left the school we needed to get our check off lists completed. My bag is checked by
the parental security, to ensure that I m not bringing unneeded items onto the school provided
trip. After that I rushed to grab my obnoxious hefty garment bag, sticky tan buckled shoes, and
my make up paraphernalia. I look into each of the items to ensure every single piece I needed is
in order, so I can be ready to board the buses. The garment bag contains the Earth sparkled dress,
leotard, and shredded tights, with a few mystery items. The shoes need to have more stickiness
for the next wear, so I placed a bulky roll of duct tape in the bottom of the bag along with the
shoes. The make up kit had plenty of sparkles spilled everywhere, along with the eye lash
extensions that should have been washed two or three performances ago. The hair accessories for
the performance were also included into the overloaded kit of supplies.

Legalizing Gay Marriage
The battle over Gay marriage in the United States reached a fever pitch during the presidential
election of 2004. The issue vaulted into prominence when the Democratic mayor of San Francisco
flouted state law and performed marriage ceremonies for Gay couples. Conservatives claim that the
issue catapulted them into power by motivating fundamentalist Christian voters to turnout in order
to defeat anti gay marriage amendments in eleven states, including the crucial swing state Ohio.
Liberals retort that fundamentalist Christian turnout in 2004 was statistically even to 2000.

Indeed, In the modern administrative state, civil marriage condenses within a single document a
vast array of legal, financial, and medical rights and benefits (Haslett). Proponents of Gay
marriage argue that denying these rights based solely on sexuality is akin to the segregation of
blacks in the South. Opponents of Gay marriage also acknowledge the uniqueness and importance
of marriage as an institution. It is precisely for this reason that they oppose allowing homosexuals
to join in matrimony. Gay marriage would redefine the institution, leading people to no longer
believe that the central purpose of marriage is to bind men and women exclusively to each other
and to the children that their sexual behavior is apt to produce. It will communicate instead that
marriage was created to gratify grown ups by reinforcing their committed romantic relationships
(Jacoby). This change in definition will erode the traditional roles held by men and women in a
marriage, according to opponents, and lead society down a slippery slope towards a point in time
where even polygamy could be condoned as a reinforcement of a committed relationship.
The real issue at hand seems to me to be the notion of civil union versus full fledged marriage. If
the main reason that Gay couples wish to wed is so that they can enjoy the legal privileges

Dishonesty Quotes In The Jungle
In the novel The Jungle you read about of hardships and dishonesty being shown. Some
examples of this would be the food and most of the people there have to fight in order to to
survive and keep a job, you will soon find out how many struggles the family in this novel has to
go through just to get to where they are today. Many of the people in this novelfind it is easier to lie
about what they do or have done because it is easier for them to get by. In the novel you read about
dishonesty, they soon become dishonest because they think it is easier to find a job or meet
other people so that they are not being judged by everyone else around them. By lying they can
get a job and the younger kids in the family are able to get a job to help provide as well. At the
age of five kids began working so if you can not go into work due to being sick or, if you end up
getting fired there is still someone making at least some kind of money. If you were dishonest
you have an easier way of surviving and making it by in life. You survive more because you last
longer working where you are and you are bringing in more money for you and your family to be
able to eat and pay rent. Dishonesty plays many parts such as the laissez faire. Laissez faire is
when the government does not have a say in what businesses can and can not do or say such as
how they treat their employees and their customers. They do this because if their government were

These instruments were meant to influence the originality of the performance and create an
accompaniment for the song. As a result, the songs sounded real and the performers were able to

according to the music s genre. The pianos, just like the rest of the instruments, ensured that the
music was perfect and that there was as much proximity to the original versions as possible.
Even in terms of the instrumentation and rhythm, all the musical notations that were performed
were similar to the original version. The piano players ensured that they stuck to the eighth note
formation to realize the expected results. Natalie Merchant, one of the singers, made the
composition and the performance to have a mournful or sorrowful mood, so as to bring out the
emotions of the songs and to establish an attachment of the song to the performance (Pareles 1).
The performances were therefore inclined towards bringing out the ideal feelings and emotions

between the original versions and the songs played during the show (O Strange 1).

Richard Schulze opened the doors of his Sound of Music store in 1966. Understanding a demand
for consumer audio components and systems in the St. Paul area, Schulze managed to provide a
combination of great prices and excellent service, thus building a strong customer base, which
quickly prompted an expansion into home appliances and video products.
The eighties prompted change as well as the opening of Best Buy s first superstore. During 1983, a
new corporate name was approved and the Sound of Music Company became known as Best Buy
Co., Inc. With mounting consumer support Best Buy continued its road to expansion ... Show more

In recent years, Best Buy Co., Inc. has stretched its grasp to the international retail technology
industry. Acquisition of Canada s largest existing consumer electronics retailer, Future Shop,
spearheaded the international expansion in early 2001. This paved the path for the official launch
of the Best Buy s independent label, Redline Entertainment. Within the Canadian sector two
separate superstores exist, Best Buy (Canada) and Future Shop, both of which target a broad
costumer base. Understanding the recognition and loyalty amongst Canadian consumers, Best Buy
has continued the use of the Future Shop named superstores. Since the acquisition of the Future
Shop, Best Buy Co. has expanded the Future Shop locations to its status of 114 stores across
Canada. In addition to Future Shop stores, Canadian Best Buy stores have continued to expand
within the past three years; numbering 30 to date.
The company truly extended itself worldwide in 2003 with the unveiling of a global sourcing
office in Shanghai, China. Currently Best Buy operates three offices within China. They are
located in Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen. The primary function of the China locations is to buy
the products in which Best Buy Co., Inc. sells. Over the next year and a half, Best Buy Co., Inc. is
planning on opening what they refer to as lab stores (Best Buy Geeks Run amok). The company is
taking every opportunity possible to acquire as much information it can about Chinese buying
patterns

of the most important thing he has was the respect of his peers who saw him as an inventive
improviser with a graceful and ebullient style, traces of which can be heard in the playing of
Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis and others (KEEPNEWS). Anyone listening to him now would
know him as the man who had a very unique way of warming up for practice. The vocal numbers

nonsense syllables took the place of words. It was an off the cuff recording of one such song,
released in 1964 under the name Mumbles, that became his signature song which is why I believe
his death was felt more by the many Jazz artists than that of the general public. I also believe it
wasn t as big of a deal because many do not give Jazz the respect it deserves due to the era of
smooth/soft Jazz taking over. Clark Terry as I have said earlier created a legacy for himself that any

God Of The Sea In Greek Mythology
God of the sea in Greek mythology and agitator of the earth (earthquakes).Poseidon s parents

relevant to the matters outlined in the report.
The article reports on the suing of Norvic Industries, who built a house to lock up stage on the
wrong block, against the Water Corporation who they claim to have caused the mistake first by
connecting water to the wrong lot.
Corporations Law
Both Norvic Industries and Water Corporations were corporations. Not only the formation but also
the administration and management of such companies involve compliance with the Corporations
law. They are bound to act in certain ways in accordance with the Corporations Act. For instance, in
the case example, the Water Corporationcould be investigated for how they managed to act
unlawfully by not honouring their obligation with another party.
Contract Law
Many aspects of the case concerns contract law. The Norvic Industries entered a building contract
with a client (Adrian and Linda Webb) in which they have contractual duties to fulfil in building the
house as discussed and stated in the contract. As a result, the Norvic Industries entered another
contract with the Water Corporation to have water connected to a block on Flag Staff Crescent in
Secret Harbour. The detailed rights and obligations of the agreement between these parties would
have been included in the contract. By entering in such contracts, these parties are protected by the
contract law.

Sonny s Character In The Rocket Boys
My favorite character in Rocket Boys is Sonny s father, Homer Hickman. This may seem like an
odd choice, given that Sonny s father is not always kind to Sonny, and often hinders him. Other
times, however, he helps Sonny greatly. For example, in the beginning of the story, he pours
Sonny s chemicals down the creek and forbids Sonny from launching rockets on company
property. Afterwards, he shows Sonny an area where he is allowed to launch rockets, the place that
becomes Cape Coalwood. Everything Sonny s father does often contradicts something done or said
earlier in the book, which seems at first to be very confusing.
These actions, however, all have a simple explanation. Sonny s father has two loves in his life: his
family and his mine. Additionally,

Negative Effects Of Celebrity Life

people lead their lives where they are watched around the entire world, which means that, all actions
that these individuals took are judged by society and communities. People around the world are
expecting excellent result and perfect decision from these people. Well, this is how celebrities lives
are and their expectation. They do all they can to stay on top and to make differences in their
everyday lives. Most of the time the world has the mindset that being a celebrityis all about
happiness and wealth. However, there may come time of rejoicing as well as sadness.Celebrity
life has negatives effects in people s lives in numerous ways and those who choose to become
celebrities they should be aware of these effects before they choose this fuel.
Additionally, celebrities do not have private life. Every step and action they take are watched.
Apparently, when one is a celebrity his or her life is not theirs any more. One may go through
difficulties situations in life, no matter how hard the person can pretend to not share his or her

The Sea is My Brother by Jack Kerouack Essay
Soldiering is 99% boredom and 1% of sheer terror , a civil war soldier wrote this to his wife in a
letter and since then the composition of war has not changed. So, what did the soldiers do in those
periods of boredom? Well, especially for the men in the frontlines, who were far from any form of
entertainment, writingletters, diaries and poems were some of the few available options. These
were the forms of war literatures that soldiers used to express and share their feelings with their
loved ones at home, as well as record the horrors of war in subjective portrayal of events. Military
personnaels felt the most connected and close ot home, through readiging about it in letters. Today,

Just reacently after his discharge, Kerouac wrote his first novel, The Sea is My Brother . The
characters and plot of this novel was based on Kerouac s brief experience in the U.S Navy.
Although the young writer (at that time being 20 years of age) had not served the average amount
of service like most soldiers, the 8 days he had been active, was enough for him to write about it
and share what he had faced.
Soldiers were not the only people who wrote during ww2. It did not have to take a person to
fight in combat, live in trenches or stay at the home front to write about the privation, suffering
and the life conditions of WWII. A group of Canadian poets called the montreal Group were
modernist writers during the mid 1920 s. The members included Leon Edel, John Glassco, A.M.J
Smith, Leo Kennedy and F.K Scott. These men followed a style of writing that s purpose was to
break the traditional and cultural trends in Literature in Canada at that time. They encouraged
young poets and other writers to set high literary standards and study the literature of great artists

How Did The Airplane Change The World
Planes are very helpful and instrumental in the time we live in. Wilbur and Orville Wright fell
in love with the idea of flight through watching birds soar through the air. While the Wright
brothers wanted to glide in the sky, they had no idea what the future of the airplane would look
like. From the time that they designed and began taking test flights in 1903, their airplane
became transformed. As a society we have become dependent on the modern day aircraft.
Whether for travel, deliveries, or for use during war, the airplane is an amazing invention that
has changed our world. Once the Wright brothers took their first flight, the airplane began
changing rapidly. In 1915 the United States started making fighter planes to use in WWI. The
plane quickly changed the face of war. Airplanes were now able to take pictures of the enemies
land, attack without using ground troops, and support the needed ground troops in a new way.
Today the Air Force uses planes for their speed, cargo capacity, support to countries in need, and
for possible bomb drops. Bombers, attack aircraft, and fighters are what make up the Air Force.

The Love Languages Of The Children
It is a universal truth that we all need love in our lives. We all have different ways in which we
like to receive and give love. Many of us may not even realize that we do. Gary Chapman writes
about five different ways in which we love and titles them five love languages. It is important to
identify how we love, because it can allow us to have a happier life and make other people s lives
better. It is especially important to identify the love languages of the children which we
encounter, because it can shape their identity either for the better or worse. There are five major
love languages that can be identified and can pretty much sum up the best ways we can express
our love. The five love languages are touch, words of affirmation, giving, time, and service. A child
s love languagecan be identified in two ways, through observation and through communication,
which pretty much also depends on their love language. We can observe the childand see if he
enjoys touching his parents and siblings, or if he does things and then looks to see what the
parent will say or perhaps just sits next to their siblings and follows them around. Love languages
are adaptable and although most humans have all the love languages, some are stronger than
others. The love languages of the parents effects what the love languages of the children will be.
For example if the parents hug a lot or if they buy gifts for each other the child can adopt that gift
and want to use it

Till We Have Faces Summary
C.S. Lewis never claimed to be a theologian in fact he claimed quite the opposite. His works fell
more into the category of apologetics than anything else, and he delved into Christian literature,
science fiction, non fiction, as well as a host of other genres, but never claimed to be doctrine
savvy. However In his classic work, Till We Have Faces (a retelling of the Greco Roman myth of
Cupid and Psyche), C.S. Lewis explores and illustrates the complexities of the modern man s as
well as his own divine search for Godand justice. He does this by using the princess Orual s ardent
questioning and denouncement of her own gods and the fervid, pursuant love that the god Cupid
and the princess Psyche share as examples of the search for Christ that all of humanity must
experience.
A gentle discord between her mind and heart, even as a child Psyche feels she does not belong
with the mortals around her. Nor, however, does Lewis s Psyche see herself as a goddess as the
rest of her nation does. She is instead trapped between worlds, and is not allowed to be fully
human or fully divine. This all changes when Psyche is to be sent to her presumable death as a
punishment for being called more beautiful than the goddess Venus herself. In Apuleius The

God before they may be met face to face. Orual s ardent questioning of the gods in their own

Lewis also uses the court of the gods to illustrate the intimate moments when men may bring their
complaints to Christ, and He may gently reflect their own triviality back upon them. Queen Orual
says: I know now, Lord, why you utter no answer. You are yourself the answer. Before your face

Immanuel Kant And The Categorical Imperative
Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher, specifically a deontologist, has two imperatives: the
hypothetical imperative and the categorical imperative. These imperatives describe what we
ought to do and are only applicable to rational beings because they are the only beings that
recognize what they ought or ought not to do. The hypothetical imperative is when an individual
s actions are reasoned by their desire, so they only act with the intention of fulfilling their
desires. The categorical imperative is what human beings ought to do for their own sake
regardless of whatever else they might desire. The categorical imperative has two formulations.
Kant s first formulation of the categorical imperative states that one ought to only act on maxims
that can be used as universal law. This formulation is based on its urgency and unity in the
society. When a maxim cannot be determined a universal law, then it is morally impermissible to
act upon it. Apply this formulation to the example of the lying promise: this cannot be willed as a
universal law because trust will no longer be a part of society. If everyone were to make a lying
promise to get money without retribution, then people will eventually recognize they are being
deceived, which will result in a more selfish community. When one wills something as a universal
law, then it is for the intention to better the state and community. This proves that the lying promise
is not a maxim to live by. Kant s second formulation of

The Lion And The Wardrobe Christian Analysis
At the age of nine, Clive Staples Lewis experienced a tragic death which made him no longer

they persuaded him it all was the truth. Soon after that conversation he became a children and

Mona: The Simultaneous Denial and Horror Emotions of Coping with AIDS Elisa, the psychotic
and sexually promiscuous murderer of the story, represents more than just the archetypal villain.
In particular, Elisa s transition from being a lover to a murderer can be easily interpreted as a
standard suspenseful plot twist; however, this transition is itself a peculiar shift in direction for the
story. This caricature change does not follow logically from what a reader would expect, and the
author s decision to incorporate this into the story suggests a deeper meaning behind Elisa s
transition from a lover to a murderer. This transformation is most strikingly found in the climax of

Even as Ramon starts to notice clues that Elisa is hiding something, he continues to deny these
things by attributing them to various other reasons. When Ramon glimpsed the face of a
horrible old man on Elisa s face, he attributed this to [their] speed, which distorted images (41).
After Ramon saw Elisa s eyes disappear, he screamed so that he would wake up from the
nightmare he believed he was having (43). Parts of Eliza s body continue to disappear right in
front of his eyes, and Ramon justifies his reasoning by saying that [s]ince in the face of the most
outlandish circumstances we always search for logical explanations, [he] rationalized what [he]
had seen as purely an effect produced by the heavy fog usual in that place (44). In these ways, the
clues have emerged, yet Ramon remains oblivious to the dangers that he faces because he
adamantly continues to remain in denial. Soon afterwards, when Ramon follows Elisa through the
night and observes her promiscuity as she meets with man after man after man, Ramon feels
betrayed, but even still, he sprints back to his meeting place with Elisa [t]o be with her once more
(46). In addition, while Ramon was searching for Elisa in the museum, he comes across

My Personality, Leadership Style
In this reflection paper I will be reflecting on my personality, leadership style, how everything in
my life has defined who I am and also the types of management or leadership that has influenced
me. For the first part of this paper I was able to take a personality test. This test is known as a
Keirsey Temperament Sorter. I was intrigued to see what this test would say about me. The
questions were interesting. On occasion they were hard to answer. You have to really look into
yourself and truthfully place yourself in a situation and think what would I do? The report stated
that I was a Guardian. The more I read into it, the more I felt that it was accurate in my personality
and how I interact and associate with others. In the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I want to encourage others to do a job, but I also know that I can get the job done also. I nurture
because I am a mother, a wife, a sister and a daughter. I also know that I cannot take that into a
work environment. I need to be a communicator, a problem solver, a scheduling guru and do what
needs to be done for the people around me. I learned from the report and also in our reading that
I was on a good path as a leader but I also stumbled. I was a lead registered medical assistant for a
pediatric clinic for 7 years before I entered the nursing program. I helped manage my clinic of 3
other medical assistants, 1 receptionist and assisted with the other 3 pediatric clinics in our
organizations. I realize that I followed what my mangers want of me. In the 13 years I was at
my clinic, we had 4 different managers. For example, we had an amazing manager who ran our
clinic with an iron fist. I say that lovingly and truthfully. She was fair, firm and consistent. She
did not take sides. She always weighed out the pros and cons, and knew what was going on in
her building. In our reading the way of the Shepard, the author wants you to know your flock. My
manager knew her flock. She knew who her weakest and her strongest employees were. She was
constantly up lifting us. I believe that my manager was a guardian also. She truly was an

1.Provide a character analysis of Lt. Cross in The Things They Carried. (20 pts.)
In the story The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien, Lt. Cross is a young soldier who like
many others was drafted into the war. Though he is the leader of the Alpha Company, he doesn t
show it, he is not emotionally nor patriotically devoted. Lt. Cross was distracted from the war
that was going on by his feelings for Martha whose letters and photos were a fantasy to him.
Whenever he looked at the photographs, he thought of new things he should ve done (O Brien

3.Discuss irony in Saboteur. (20 pts.)
In the story Saboteur by Ha Jin there are multiple ironic events that happen throughout the story.
The name of the story is ironic because the word Saboteur is used for one who intentionally
obstructs something. In the beginning of the story, Mr. Chiu who is a communist is arrested for
confronting a police officer who purposefully throws a bowl of tea on him and his wife s sandals;
it is then that he becomes a saboteur to the public. ... You re a saboteur, you know that? You re
disrupting public order (Jin 309). While in jail Mr. Chiu realizes that his Hepatitis is relapsing but
when he tries to tell the authorities (who are supposed to help and protect us) they tell him that
they cannot do anything for him so he has to sit until Monday. No leader is on duty on the
weekend. You have to wait till Monday (Jin 312). After Mr. Chiu is released, he visits food stands
and ends up contaminating innocent people with Hepatitis as revenge for what they put him
through. Within a month over eight hundred people contracted acute hepatitis in Muji. Six die of
the disease (Jin 316).
4.What is the symbolism of the use of two in Hills like White Elephants?

The Pros And Cons Of Social Media
In society today, we as a whole have replaced communicating face to face and have switched to
expressing our ideas behind a screen. Because of this, a good number of arguments have arose
from post and publications that state someone s opinion about an issue. One of the most highly
used forms of media in our world today is social media, which are websites and technological
apps that enable a person or group to create their own websites and pages for a specific purpose.
Social media creates a second world where people can communicate with others across the world
in a matter of seconds. Whenever you have a large collection of people in the same area, each
stating their argumentsand sides to something, there are going to be conflicting sides to every
situation. Another way of describing the word argument is by using the words ethos, pathos, and
logos. These three words are used when arguing on social media every single day. Ethos, which
is the credibility and expertise that a person has on a specific topic, is used in arguments for
appealing to people who are interested in their product or service. Imagine that John is trying to
purchase medication for his diabetes. He has found two types of medication online. One is found
on a Facebook page by a random person with no knowledge of medicine, and the other is found on
a doctor s website. The doctor has 28 years of experience of taking care of patients and has went to
school 8 years prior to those 28 years. Obviously John is

There are issues of confidentiality, understanding what s in the client s best interest, the rights of the
client, and using the techniques to best assess the client. It is also important to maintain a
professional relationship with clients.
A mental health counselor in the state of Florida can expect to earn $22,000 and up. Private
practice mental health counselors can earn a considerable amount more settings for mental health
counselors may include hospitals, drug treatment centers, educational center, community
organizations, state agencies, and in private practice. One of the issues in the future is the
tightening HMO policies. HMO s are tightening their restrictions on what they will and will not pay
for. Another issue that was brought to my attention was the timeliness in which Medicaid pays.
Medicaid has been known to be two to three months behind in paying claims.
In my research or the counseling profession, it was stress to me that given the drawbacks,
counseling was a very worthy and rewarding. The problems can be easily dealt with and planned
for. It is important that one have a balanced life outside of their career. A balance life helps prevent
compassion fatigue and help maintain that high level of physical and emotional energy that is
needed to be an effective counselor.

Xu Bing s is a Chinese artist who studied printmaking at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in
Beijing. His style of art is defined as social realist which was greatly influenced by his time at a
re education camp during the Cultural Revolution in the late 1960 s and 70 s. he favored the
popular phrase in that time Use your pen as a weapon and shoot down reactionary gangs . Bing s
father was a historian and his mother was an administrator in the library of science. A Bookfrom the

Metal-Only Lewis Pairs with Transition Metal Lewis Basas
Metal Only Lewis Pairs with Transition Metal Lewis Basas
Introduction:
History of Metal Metal Dative Bonding Concept In 1961, Vaska and Diluzio synthesized a lemon
yellow compound known as the organometallic complex trans [IrCl(CO)(PPh3)2]. This was
achieved by reducing iridium(III) to iridium(I) using just triphenylphosphine and an alcohol. This
was significant because they had prepared an iridium carbonyl complex without the use of carbon
monoxide. This complex has reversible dioxygen coordination, but more importantly, it is
extremely reactive with acids, halides, and dihydrogen yielding stable Ir(III) addition products.
The discovery of this Iridium complex meant that laboratories across the globe could now easily
create, in one step and several hours, an air stable compound that could undergo oxidative addition
reactions. Also, the reaction could be monitored by watching the carbonyl C O stretching band in
the IR spectrum and NMR spectroscopy later on. Because Vaska s complex was so stable, its
reactivity was limited. The complex serves as an excellent molecular platform for defining how
oxidative addition reactions make homo and heterogeneous catalysis a reality. While the term
oxidative addition is a staple in inorganic chemistry and catalysis, the step transition metal Lewis
basicity is almost never seen. There are numerous methods that a metal can cleave an element
element bond, from concerted, side on cleavage to backside attack. Most oxidative addition

Charles Darwin Social Influence
One of the most influential thinkers in science, Charles Darwin was a man with an immense
devotion to pursuing the relationship between himself and the world around him.
In his article on the legacy of Darwin, Burghardt (2009) praised not only Darwin s genuine interest
in culture, human psychology, and all aspects of natural history, but also his behavioral
observations and interpretations of the animals and peoples of the areas he visited (p.103). His
inclination to find reason through observational and exploratory research cemented his
contributions to the knowledge of human development. Darwin s theories are still at the forefront
of psychological research, lecture, and debate, and are the basis for many different areas of study

Darwin (1860) never attempted to find a clear location of animal instinct but rather, compared
instincts to malleable, habitual experiences carried across individuals of similar species (p.207). He
concluded that natural selection could play a role in the gradual development of instincts, and
theorized that variations of competing behaviors among different animals result of this
phenomenon. In, The Organism and its Behavior, Krout (1933), relays Darwin s attitudes of
instinct, who spoke of instincts as chains of reflexes but treated them as mental faculties , which
impel animals to perform certain actions (p. 87). Today s ethologists take Darwin s approach to
instinct, and emphasize the role of experience in shaping human behavior. Fear, a trait observed by
Darwin in various species of birds, is certainly an instinctive quality, as may be seen in nestling
birds, though it is strengthened by experience, and by the sight of fear of the same enemy in other
animals. But fear of man is slowly acquired (Darwin, 1860). The natural world, according the
Darwin, has a direct effect on the everchanging traits of an organism, whether habitual or
instinctive. The constant shift of environmental factors influences humans and nonhumans to form
habits, and potentially, instincts. This comparative approach has opened the doors to new ideas
about behavior in humans

Isolation In Frankenstein
Throughout the course of the novel, Shelley isolated Frankenstein countless times to develop his
character. Isolation is the process to be or remain alone or apart from others. Due to seclusion,
Frankenstein not only became socially isolated, but also quite lonely. The first moment we see
Frankenstein being isolated is when he is engrossed in reading the past alchemists books, and
wondering about the universe and the human mind; this small remoteness begins before he travels
to Ingolstadt for university. This seclusion does not depress him, neither does it make him socially
inept, it simply a start push to the journey. The second time Shelley detaches Frankensteinfrom
society is when he is sent to university and is engrossed in his scientific... Show more content on

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Senior Care Texas And Companionship Senior Care Texas and Companionship As we age, there are many positive events that happen in our lives. We get to witness the marriage of our children, the birth of our grandchildren or great grandchildren, and hopefully enjoy the fruits of our labor during retirement. There are some negative parts to aging as well. Friends and family pass on or move away, the excitement of the workforce is replaced with endless numbers of unscheduled days, and even your closest allies, such as a spouse, may move on in divorce or death. The result of these changes, despite the many positives, is loneliness. According to studies by the University of California at San Francisco, nearly half of seniors report having regular feelings of loneliness. Surprisingly, half of those seniors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The University of Rochester Medical Center found that social interaction is important for health, and loneliness leads to medical problems. One study found fewer colds, lower blood pressure, and lower heart rates in seniors with strong social ties. Statistics show that marriage, perhaps the strongest tie, adds years to life expectancy. And suicide, mental illness and alcoholism rates are much lower when people feel a sense of belonging. Studies at UC San Francisco support the Rochester findings. They found that seniors over 60 who experience prolonged bouts of loneliness have a 45 percent increase in their risk of death. They were also nearly 60 percent more likely to have mental and physical problems develop as a result of the loneliness. Supporting the idea that more people does not necessarily resolve loneliness, Dr. T. Byram Karasu Albert Einstein College of Medicine s chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences found that Even when they re being taken care of by family caregivers, there is often little attention paid to deep, engaging communication between a senior and the rest of the family. The result is a feeling of being pushed aside and chronic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Human Society Of San Diego As we grow up in life, we often wonder what it would be like to have a pet. Some parents will go out to the far limits to get that one of a kind dog. Others will just tell their children that having an animal takes responsibility. Whether it is one or the other, we still have that thought in our head. In this paper, I want to look at one place where a child or parents can get that chance to make that dream of having a pet at home a reality. I welcome you to the humane societyof San Diego. I often said to myself, this is where are the stray animals go. Not true, when you take a look some maybe stray but others come from a home that just plain got tired of them. Let me show you the journey of what the humane society of San Diego can do when it comes to looking at that pet to come home with you. History of the San Diego Human Society As we all know, we must look first at the past of the humane society. San Diego is just one of many that are around and offer so many. The question is, where did they get there beginnings from? Well lets go back to March of 1880, when San Diego was still in it s beginning phases of growing. This was the start of the San Diego humane society. Looking that far back, you can see that even than the importance of animals were looked at. From that time it was the start of what would be a huge organization that was solely for the treatment of the animal. From that day in March, the humane society has made its promise to training not only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Frank And Leon Frank and his brother Leon have things in common as well as differences in their personality fueled by the different childhood experiences they have undergone. The childhood experiences have an impact on how people behave towards the others and themselves in their lives later on. Frank had autism while Leon was a sociopath. Both Leon and Frank had affected interpersonal skills and world mostly keep to themselves. Both would no find the need to communicate with the other people. For Frank, he could not realize that people don t know what he already knows. The lack of the cognizance of the difference kept him from communicating. He was born of a fifteen year old mother who left him with her mother, Justin s grandmother, at a tender age of only two months old. Unfortunately, Justin s grandmother was hospitalized and passed on when the boy was eleven months old. Arthur, the grandmother s boyfriend was left in custody of Justin. He worked like a dog breeder, and so he put Justin in a dog s cage, after the child protection services failed to place Justin elsewhere, such as another family. At two, Justin was diagnosed with severe brain damage. He was unlikely to get better. In treatment, Dr. Perry and the other clinicians took the following steps in Justin s case. The first step was Dr. Perry s familiarization with Justin. He walked over to the crib he was in and took off the lab coat and the tie. The actions were to reduce the possibilities of the doctor threatening Justin since the boy was not conversant with the jackets and the neckties. The second step towards Justin s therapy was to move him to a private room to the hospital where a given number of clinicians would attend to him. The relocation was meant to assure the boy of no harm during the healing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Introducing Systems Theory, Marriage And Family Therapists Introducing Systems Theory Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT) in training are tasked with helping a family work through conflict and arrive and more intimate and interdependent relationships, which can seem daunting or maybe even terrifying. However, the interaction patterns that show up in families can find some context and clarity for a therapist who knows systems theory. Systems theory suggests that individuals cannot be understood in isolation from their family context because families create relational processes and generate a sequence of interactions and behaviors in order to maintain dynamic stability of the self regulating family system (Nichols, 2013, pp. 58 59). How does this general systems theory help an MFT guide a family in therapy? In this paper I will take three systems theory principles and apply them to a movie in order to demonstrate how it provides a language and context for MFTs, thus making it an essential tool in family therapy. I will begin with a brief synopsis of Demme s movie, Rachel Getting Married (2008), and its primary family characters. Next I will discuss three key principles of systems theory and use the movie characters interactions as examples for each corresponding principle. In the conclusion I will share my learning experience in doing this assignment. The Movie Synopsis Rachel Getting Married (Demme, 2008) is about Kym, the estranged daughter, return home to her upscale Connecticut family for her sister Rachel s wedding after ... Theme Of Revenge In Medea Shannel Frith Dr. Warren Kelly LIT 2040 010 October 23, 2017 Analysis Paper 2 The Price One Must Pay According to Samuel Johnson, Revenge is an act of passion; vengeance of justice. Injuries are revenged; crimes are avenged. Medea is an ancient Greek tragedy written by Euripides. It was first produced in 431 BC and it is based on the myth of Jason and Medea. The themes prevalent throughout the play is revenge and loss of innocence. It symbolizes how the act of revenge can cause you to betray your loved ones because of your pride and selfishness. Your actions whether it s premeditated or not, carry consequences that must be recognized. Even though in the play Medea, the characters lack any self conscious recognition for their own ... But while together they must endure the pains of childbirth, and they are kept from participating in any sort of public life. Unlike men, who can engage in business, sport, and war. That why Medea believes that Jason should suffer for the suffering he has inflicted upon her as a woman. Especially since Jason banish her and her children from Corinth. How can you claim that you love someone but banish them to become homeless and helpless? Your own flesh and blood. That shows how children nor wife were important in ancient Greek society. Children were born just so that the can take over the fathers place and take care of them when they get old. Even though the parents don t raise the child, the nurse does. The most controversial character is Medea, she chose to murder her own two children just to cause pain to Jason. The children represent innocence and purity. Children are represented as free of any sins or impurities because their minds do not have the capacity to fully comprehend evil as adults do. The nurse is fearful for the boy s life, so she tries her best to keep them out of cite from their mother. The nurse wishes Medea would leave the kids out of her and Jason problem they are not the ones to blame. But the nurse also states that she was brought up willful and powerful in a great house with no rules. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Controversy Of Immigration Reform Furthermore, your immigration reform plan has far too many flaws and it is absurd. It is incredibly cruel to want to end birth right citizenships, require that Americans get jobs over immigrants, and enhance penalties for overstaying a visa. This country has always been a land of immigration, and suddenly deciding to deny foreigners rights is immoral and uncalled for. We have economic and religious freedoms, the freedom of speech, and the right of suffrage. With your reform plan, freedom will cease to exist. This is exactly the opposite of what our founding fathers would have wanted. Racismcontinues to be a rampant problem in America, and your proposals will only further the issues we have. My grandfather came from a small town in Southern Italy. When he first began, all of the people in his office treated him disrespectfully and made fun of the way he spoke. Despite the setbacks, he became one of the best insurance salesmen in the United States and retired at age 45. We are the land of opportunity, the land of the free, and the home of the brave. Your policies are the opposite of what America stands for. For instance, Luis E. Miramontes, a man with an ethnicity that is affected by your harshness, became a prominent and innovative Mexican American. He was a chemist that was the co inventor of the progestin norethindrone used in one of the first three contraceptives. In 1964, the U.S. Department of Patents chose his contraceptive pill as one of the forty registered most important inventions between 1794 and 1964, and the pill was included in the USA Inventor s Hall of Fame. Miramontes has been named one of the world s most influential chemical engineers of all time, and he has every right to be able to proudly call himself an American. • 11. The Negative Personality Of Albert Einstein THE CREATIVE PERSONALITY OF ALBERT EINSTEIN He is renown as the Father of solid state Physics , the famous 20th century scientist and a symbol of intellectual independence and leadership (Cardona, 2005). Albert Einstein the Jewish mathematician and physicist was born on March 14,1879 at Ulm, in WГјrttemberg, Germany. He is acclaimed for his theories in physics specifically the theory of special relativity, the general theory of relativity and the photoelectric effect (Howell, 2017). His special relativity theory summarised in the equation E=mc2 is widely known even among those who don t understand physics. It s these theories that earned him the international accreditation and acclaim in physics as the Nobel Prize winner in 1921(Parker 2007). According to the 4P s of creativity, the press which is the external (structural) social environment one grows up in largely contributes to one accessing information contained in a given domain (Csikszentmihalyi, 1988). This is clearly demonstrated in Einstein s early life. His father and uncle were engineers who ran a company that made electrical equipment based on direct current (Howell, 2017), thus he was exposed to so much the factual knowledge and underlying principles and tenets of physics, machines and equipment s at his father s workshop. Second to this is his personality, the internal (subjective) factors that triggers creativity according to (Csikszentmihalyi 2014). Einstein was very curios and inquisitive by nature. The ... So until Charles III gave them the citizenship, they had a very challenging life and that is reflected in Flamenco. Katz stated, they developed a song repertory of a special character, the essence of which, rooted in poverty, expressed the plight of their existence and gave impetus to poetic and musical forms that had become prominent around the mid 18th century. (n.d.) As the gypsies continued to settle in and live freely, flamenco became a significant musical genre in Andalucia and it became well known for entertainment in the cafГ©s cantates (singing cabarets) built in different cities. Flamenco became more and more popular as generations go by, until even the non gypsies perform this musical genre as well. Flamenco has genuineness in its style of music. Manuel stated, flamenco songs typically alternate verses with a catchy, singable refrain and pre arranged instrumental interludes. The latter generally foreground guitar, but the accompaniment as a whole often includes bass, percussion, and perhaps other instruments. (2010, p. 115) There are three main types that are presented in the scales used in flamenco. First is the Medieval Phrygian or is also called as Greek Dorian. Phrygian is diatonic according to Johnson (1993), which means Phrygian has a seven note scale that has an octave span filled by 5 tones or 2 semitones (Drabkin, n.d.). I jumped out of the car with eagerness when I saw my friends waiting for me by the curb line. We leap with joy because; we knew that this was going to be one of the best trips of our final year in high school. The tripmeant so much to us; we needed to be away from stress filled environment that is known as school. Before we left the school we needed to get our check off lists completed. My bag is checked by the parental security, to ensure that I m not bringing unneeded items onto the school provided trip. After that I rushed to grab my obnoxious hefty garment bag, sticky tan buckled shoes, and my make up paraphernalia. I look into each of the items to ensure every single piece I needed is in order, so I can be ready to board the buses. The garment bag contains the Earth sparkled dress, leotard, and shredded tights, with a few mystery items. The shoes need to have more stickiness for the next wear, so I placed a bulky roll of duct tape in the bottom of the bag along with the shoes. The issue vaulted into prominence when the Democratic mayor of San Francisco flouted state law and performed marriage ceremonies for Gay couples. Conservatives claim that the issue catapulted them into power by motivating fundamentalist Christian voters to turnout in order to defeat anti gay marriage amendments in eleven states, including the crucial swing state Ohio. Indeed, In the modern administrative state, civil marriage condenses within a single document a vast array of legal, financial, and medical rights and benefits (Haslett). Proponents of Gay marriage argue that denying these rights based solely on sexuality is akin to the segregation of blacks in the South. Opponents of Gay marriage also acknowledge the uniqueness and importance of marriage as an institution. It is precisely for this reason that they oppose allowing homosexuals to join in matrimony. Gay marriage would redefine the institution, leading people to no longer believe that the central purpose of marriage is to bind men and women exclusively to each other and to the children that their sexual behavior is apt to produce. It will communicate instead that marriage was created to gratify grown ups by reinforcing their committed romantic relationships (Jacoby). This change in definition will erode the traditional roles held by men and women in a marriage, according to opponents, and lead society down a slippery slope towards a point in time where even polygamy could be condoned as a reinforcement of a committed relationship. The real issue at hand seems to me to be the notion of civil union versus full fledged marriage. Many of us may not even realize that we do. Gary Chapman writes about five different ways in which we love and titles them five love languages. It is important to identify how we love, because it can allow us to have a happier life and make other people s lives better. It is especially important to identify the love languages of the children which we encounter, because it can shape their identity either for the better or worse. There are five major love languages that can be identified and can pretty much sum up the best ways we can express our love. The five love languages are touch, words of affirmation, giving, time, and service. A child s love languagecan be identified in two ways, through observation and through communication, which pretty much also depends on their love language. We can observe the childand see if he enjoys touching his parents and siblings, or if he does things and then looks to see what the parent will say or perhaps just sits next to their siblings and follows them around. Love languages are adaptable and although most humans have all the love languages, some are stronger than others. His works fell more into the category of apologetics than anything else, and he delved into Christian literature, science fiction, non fiction, as well as a host of other genres, but never claimed to be doctrine savvy. However In his classic work, Till We Have Faces (a retelling of the Greco Roman myth of Cupid and Psyche), C.S. Lewis explores and illustrates the complexities of the modern man s as well as his own divine search for Godand justice. He does this by using the princess Orual s ardent questioning and denouncement of her own gods and the fervid, pursuant love that the god Cupid and the princess Psyche share as examples of the search for Christ that all of humanity must experience. A gentle discord between her mind and heart, even as a child Psyche feels she does not belong with the mortals around her. • 37. Immanuel Kant And The Categorical Imperative Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher, specifically a deontologist, has two imperatives: the hypothetical imperative and the categorical imperative. These imperatives describe what we ought to do and are only applicable to rational beings because they are the only beings that recognize what they ought or ought not to do. The hypothetical imperative is when an individual s actions are reasoned by their desire, so they only act with the intention of fulfilling their desires. The categorical imperative is what human beings ought to do for their own sake regardless of whatever else they might desire. The categorical imperative has two formulations. Kant s first formulation of the categorical imperative states that one ought to only act on maxims that can be used as universal law. This formulation is based on its urgency and unity in the society. When a maxim cannot be determined a universal law, then it is morally impermissible to act upon it. Apply this formulation to the example of the lying promise: this cannot be willed as a universal law because trust will no longer be a part of society. If everyone were to make a lying promise to get money without retribution, then people will eventually recognize they are being deceived, which will result in a more selfish community. When one wills something as a universal law, then it is for the intention to better the state and community. This proves that the lying promise is not a maxim to live by. Soon after that conversation he became a children and Christian author. Lewis created The Chronicles of Narniato represent an allegory of multiple stories in the Bible. Aslan came back to life to save Narnia from the White Witch. Even though everyone thought he was dead, he came back to life as Jesus rose from the dead in the Bible. As stated in the Bible ...Jesus cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was town in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split (King James Version, Matthew 27.40 51). Lewis uses the Stone Table to recreate the resurrection of Jesus after his death on the cross. Once the veil was torn Jesus was resurrected and it created a gateway for all Christians to go to heaven after death. • 43. The Pros And Cons Of Social Media In society today, we as a whole have replaced communicating face to face and have switched to expressing our ideas behind a screen. Because of this, a good number of arguments have arose from post and publications that state someone s opinion about an issue. One of the most highly used forms of media in our world today is social media, which are websites and technological apps that enable a person or group to create their own websites and pages for a specific purpose. Social media creates a second world where people can communicate with others across the world in a matter of seconds. Whenever you have a large collection of people in the same area, each stating their argumentsand sides to something, there are going to be conflicting sides to every situation. Another way of describing the word argument is by using the words ethos, pathos, and logos. These three words are used when arguing on social media every single day. Ethos, which is the credibility and expertise that a person has on a specific topic, is used in arguments for appealing to people who are interested in their product or service. • 46. Metal-Only Lewis Pairs with Transition Metal Lewis Basas Metal Only Lewis Pairs with Transition Metal Lewis Basas Introduction: History of Metal Metal Dative Bonding Concept In 1961, Vaska and Diluzio synthesized a lemon yellow compound known as the organometallic complex trans [IrCl(CO)(PPh3)2]. This was achieved by reducing iridium(III) to iridium(I) using just triphenylphosphine and an alcohol. This was significant because they had prepared an iridium carbonyl complex without the use of carbon monoxide. This complex has reversible dioxygen coordination, but more importantly, it is extremely reactive with acids, halides, and dihydrogen yielding stable Ir(III) addition products. The discovery of this Iridium complex meant that laboratories across the globe could now easily create, in one step and several hours, an air stable compound that could undergo oxidative addition reactions. Also, the reaction could be monitored by watching the carbonyl C O stretching band in the IR spectrum and NMR spectroscopy later on. Because Vaska s complex was so stable, its reactivity was limited. The complex serves as an excellent molecular platform for defining how oxidative addition reactions make homo and heterogeneous catalysis a reality. While the term oxidative addition is a staple in inorganic chemistry and catalysis, the step transition metal Lewis basicity is almost never seen. There are numerous methods that a metal can cleave an element element bond, from concerted, side on cleavage to backside attack. Most oxidative addition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In his article on the legacy of Darwin, Burghardt (2009) praised not only Darwin s genuine interest in culture, human psychology, and all aspects of natural history, but also his behavioral observations and interpretations of the animals and peoples of the areas he visited (p.103). Darwin (1860) never attempted to find a clear location of animal instinct but rather, compared instincts to malleable, habitual experiences carried across individuals of similar species (p.207). He concluded that natural selection could play a role in the gradual development of instincts, and theorized that variations of competing behaviors among different animals result of this phenomenon. In, The Organism and its Behavior, Krout (1933), relays Darwin s attitudes of instinct, who spoke of instincts as chains of reflexes but treated them as mental faculties , which impel animals to perform certain actions (p. 87). Today s ethologists take Darwin s approach to instinct, and emphasize the role of experience in shaping human behavior. Fear, a trait observed by Darwin in various species of birds, is certainly an instinctive quality, as may be seen in nestling birds, though it is strengthened by experience, and by the sight of fear of the same enemy in other animals. But fear of man is slowly acquired (Darwin, 1860). The natural world, according the Darwin, has a direct effect on the everchanging traits of an organism, whether habitual or instinctive. The constant shift of environmental factors influences humans and nonhumans to form habits, and potentially, instincts.
