ABSTRACT: In the Malaysian context, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) experience a significant
burden of workplace accidents. A consensus among scholars attributes a substantial portion of these incidents to
human factors, particularly unsafe behaviors. This study, conducted in Malaysia's northern region, specifically
targeted Safety and Health/Human Resource professionals within the manufacturing sector of SMEs. We
gathered a robust dataset comprising 107 responses through a meticulously designed self-administered
questionnaire. Employing advanced partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques
with SmartPLS 3.2.9, we rigorously analyzed the data to scrutinize the intricate relationship between safety
behavior and safety performance. The research findings unequivocally underscore the palpable and
consequential impact of safety behavior variables, namely safety compliance and safety participation, on
improving safety performance indicators such as accidents, injuries, and property damages. These results
strongly validate research hypotheses. Consequently, this study highlights the pivotal significance of cultivating
safety behavior among employees, particularly in resource-constrained SME settings, as an essential step toward
enhancing workplace safety performance.

develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media product?
2. • I believe that my media product develops the codes and conventions of a real music
magazine because it follows the codes ad conventions of an actual music magazine.
Hopefully my music magazine will appeal to the 15-10 years old audience. I have
portrayed a use of my knowledge by again using the codes and conventions which will
attract the category I chose.
3. I first analyzed different magazines within the same
genre and how there designs appeal to a similar target
audience. The music magazines I researched were ‘ Q
magazines and ‘Billboard magazines’. I took them
ideas and embedded them within my media product.
I did a rough digital draft of my product, magazine
cover, contents page and the double page. For
example, for all the pages I used Photoshop to
complete my draft and my final product. My final
design was the image of myself; I was portraying
myself as the music artist to be original, the image of
myself is presented in all three pages. This is because
I wanted the audience to realise the actual artist. The
font I selected for my magazine title is sweet
sensation, the title of my magazine is ‘Kidrauhl’. The
reason why I chose sweet sensation font, to be a font
type that focus is the audience eye on to the
masthead. For my main headline, I used Georgia
font. The reason why I used the Georgia font for my
main headline it is because I wanted the text to be
clear for the audience. My media product is a Hip-
hop, pop music magazine that challenges the
conventions of other Hip-hop, pop music magazines.
My magazines title, the masthead is at the top left of
my front cover page; the reason for this is that it
automatically catches the readers view. This makes it
easier for the audience to see the masthead clearly,
and makes it obvious that it is the title.
The “Q” is used through the magazine that
suggests there have kept the logo of the
magazine the same, for example there have kept
the red background behind the letter “Q”, this
points out that is a continuous process through
this kind of music magazine.
The first magazine has a barcode on the magazine cover
where as the second magazine also has a barcode which
suggest the similarity between the two magazines.
4. My double page also follows the
codes and conventions of a real
media product, for example my
front cover page phrase “Sema has
white power”, is repeated at my
double page that suggests the
continuous of my music magazine
and how it is linked. My double
page spread includes an interview
between the editor and the music
artist. The purpose of having an
interview is to have a close opinion
of the music artist and to convey
the whole idea of my music
magazine. My double page spread
portrays a pull quote to draw the
audience to read the whole
interview.
The purpose of “J” through the middle of the
double page , make it look different and use it for th
purpose of Jay Z, first letter of his name. Also the
purpose of using the colour red is to make it stand
out, by the writing being in black and it is also the
letter being a serif font.
My media product, double page spread has three
columns where as, the other music magazine has two
columns. The gutter between my three columns is the
same size, similar to Jay Z music magazine.
The page
numbers are
used in both
magazines which
suggests to the
audience what
page the double
spread is on.
The pull quote used in my
media product suggests the
original idea and how it is an
advantage to draw the audience.
5. Both contents page
include the title, both
title are clear to be seen
by the audience.
The ‘Issue’
magazine
contains several
images where as
my media
product has two
images only.
This means that
the audience for
the ‘Issue’
magazine has
several images
to look at, for
mine there is
two images to
focus on.
The house style, colours used
is red, blue and light brown
similarly the ‘Issue’ magazine
also used the colour red. The
colour white and blue has
dominated my contents page.
The layout,
structure of both
contents page is
different. My
contents page, the
features, page
numbers are on the
left side, the image
of the model is on
the right side. For
the ‘Issue’ magazine,
the page numbers
and features are on
the right side.
When I analysed
different music
contents page I
realised that there is
different conventions
used. My media
product, the contents
challenges other
music magazines. I
have challenged my
contents page, I have
used the maths head
(Kidrauhl)with the
title of the contents
page. No other music
magazine that I’ve
researched have done
this, so I have
challenged this.
6. The model I’ve used for my three pages are the same female model. This means
that my media product, music magazine is conventional. This will request young
females to be attracted to my magazine. However, males may also be engaged to
my magazine but finding the female model attractive, good looking.

language, to make it realistic of
how a real interview will be.
