  • Hello, my name is Obisam1 Canetti. I am an avatar and currently exist only in the virtual world of Second Life. During this next decade I will be able to exist in many different virtual worlds and will start connecting with the physical world through augmented reality. I would like to introduce my physical representation, Bill Sams. Bill exists in what used to be called the misnamed real world but will increasingly understood to be the physical world. Bill’s world is limited by the laws of physics so he cannot fly, teleport or be in the same place with friends from around the world at a moments notice. Bill’s world is very difficult to change and in fact his world with weather, distances and humanoid problems does more to control him than he does to control it. Virtual worlds on the other hand offer the potential for infinite creativity, collaboration and sharing. They offer the ultimate in both human control and freedom. So I would like to now turn the presentation over to Bill in the physical world of your darken room with the uncomfortable chairs for a primitive synchronous presentation on virtual worlds, social networks and augmented reality. Good afternoon Bill.
