  • 2. Juro Jánošík
    • We would like to mention our national legend and hero Juraj Jánošík from historic traditions in Slovakia.
    • He is often called as Slovakia´s Robin Hood.
  • 3. Famous Slovak forest robber
    • Famous Slovak forest robber Juro Jánošík was born in Terchová in 1688.
    • People were oppressed
    • in 17th century
    • and needed national hero.
    • Juro Jánošík became their national hero.
    • He was the captain of forest robbers .
    • Poor people liked him because he gave them a part of his loot.
  • 4. Legends
    • Different legends are famous about Jánošík.
    • People have spoken that his energy has been in magic things that he has received from fairies.
  • 5. Juro´s special magic things
    • It was a valaška - a kind of axe, but smaller and lighter - very sharp and fast and it was able to cut without help.
    • Then it was his magic belt which made him strong and immortal.
    • White shirt resistant from bullets and swords.
    • Juro’s special hairdo which
    • was made by fairies –
    • a power of three strong men
    • was hidden in the braids.
  • 6. How was he arrested?
    • Without these magic things he was just a normal human with no strength and also he was mortal.
    • This became fatal for him.
    • He was caught in the pub eating some meal without his magic things.
    • Only braids were protecting him
    • but soldiers cut them quickly.
    • He was arrested.
  • 7. How did he end?
    • He was tried by the county court of Liptov .
    • Jánošík was hanged on the gallows . but not ordinary – on a hook for his rib.
    • On the day of execution, Juro cried „ When you have baked me, you can eat me!” Then he jumped on the hook .
    • He died in 1713.
  • 8. Slovak National Hero
    • So, in this way Juro Jánošík died, Slovak forest robber that took from rich people and gave to poor people.The forest robber that helped to people.
    • He died like brave man
    • and so he became national
    • hero for lots of people.
