Construction health and safety Those who appoint contractors to undertake building or maintenance work have clearly defined responsibilities under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM 07). Similarly, contractors delivering this work have to ensure they possess and can demonstrate the required levels of competence. Failure to follow the requirements of CDM07 means you are more likely to have a dangerous or fatal accident during construction work. Also, breaches of the law could result in work having to be stopped by the HSE and potential prosecution in the most serious circumstances.
