1. Technology Services Coordinator Position Description
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Technology Services Coordinator
serves as the library's primary representative for the administration of public access and staff
computers, the Integrated Library System, internal staff communication and scheduling
electronic accounts, the Library’s website, and telecommunications networking hardware,
software and maintenance. This position is responsible for planning, organizing,
implementing, and evaluating all aspects of the Library’s technology plan. This position is
part of the Mifflin County Library’s management team and a non-supervisory* capacity.
Customer Service and Community Relations
Assist at customer service desks at the Library’s facilities as needed
Provide patrons with one-on-one Kindle, Nook, or iPad assistance and train staff in these
technologies
Devise strategies for informing County residents of the myriad technology resources and
services that are available at the Library
Participates in community outreach events as needed
Resources
Knowledge of library automation, particularly The Library Corporation integrated library
system
Recommends, selects, orders, installs and maintains public access and staff computers
and software
Recommends the purchase, utilization, and maintenance of technology to deliver, monitor
and enhance library services
Proactively maintains and updates all aspects of the Library’s Google account and ensures
that staff is informed of changes

Responsible for the design, update and maintenance of the Library’s webpage
Has knowledge and awareness of new products, services, software, and trends in web site
design
Proactively researches and gains working knowledge of next generation trends in the
delivery of information via the Internet
Social Media
Maintains the Library’s Twitter account and may provide content for our YouTube,
Facebook and Pinterest accounts to actively promote Library services, programs, and
resources
Seeks out cutting edge social media tools to enhance the Library throughout the County
recommends, implements and evaluates new strategies to reach the ‘womb to tomb’
residents of Mifflin County thorough technology
Reports Management
Identify potential grant opportunities for technology monies
Seeks out technology vendors to do comparative shopping to ensure that the Library
receives the best possible price for technology purchases
Assists the Executive Director, Administrative Assistant, and the Library’s outside E-rate
consultant with the preparation for and reporting of the E-rate program
2. Prepares statistical and narrative reports for the Board and Executive Director when asked
Professional Growth and Development
Consults and confers with other libraries and professionals as needed
Attends conferences, workshops, webinars and trainings to update skills, network and
learn about new trends, issues, products and best practices
Paid membership to Pennsylvania Library Association
Other duties as assigned
May include, but are not limited to:
Catalog new books as needed in the absence of the Cataloging and Collection
Development Librarian
Order new/hot title fiction for the adult collection
Minimum qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Knowledge of computer software, hardware and repair
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Exemplary oral and written communication skills
Must be able to lift/push 20 pounds
Must pass criminal background and child abuse history clearance checks
