    Moodle: Auto-linking - Presentation Transcript

    1. Moodle: Auto-linking James Neill University of Canberra April, 2009
    2. The Problem A key advantage of web-based materials is the ability to create HYPERLINKs. However, hyperlinks are often:
      • Under-used
      • Time-consuming to create
      • Broken
    3. Auto-linking: What it does Be default, Moodle creates auto-links to:
      • GLOSSARY items
      • RESOURCES
      • ACTIVITIES
      These auto-links appear in:
      • LABELS & WEB PAGES
      • FORUM POSTS
      • QUIZZES etc.
    4. Auto-linking: By design Create auto-links for key site components and commonly used external links. Link
    5. Auto-linking: By design
      • By default, only the first instance of an auto-linkable item in a section will be hyperlinked.
      • <nolink> ..... </nolink> in the html code can be used to disable auto-linking
    6. Auto-linking: Via glossary
      • Add commonly used terms to the glossary (if they are not already Resources or Activities)
      • Then those terms will be auto-linked whenever anyone uses them
