Joseph Chadwick and Anne
Mary Knowles. He married

• Chadwick attended Manchester high school, he graduated from the Honours School of Physics in
1911. He spent two years under proffesor Rutherford in the Physical Laboratory in Manchester were
he worked on radioactivity problems and gained his M.sc degree in 1913.
