Evaluation Question 4
1. How did you use new media
technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
2. Overall
• Without media technologies I would not have been able to do
a lot of the things which have enabled me to create my
products and the majority of my planning. They have been
very beneficial, some of the technologies have taught me new
skills which I am able to incorporate in to other aspects of my
work.
3. iMacs
• I have been able to have access to iMacs throughout my
coursework. This has enabled me to use software which isn’t
available outside of college. Software includes Final Cut and
Photoshop. The use of iMacs has allowed me to use the best
editing software which is available, but has also allowed me to
progress with the use of macs and understand how they work.
4. Google
• Google has aided me greatly, especially during research and
planning. I have been able to use Google in order to find out
about my genre and what I should include. I have also found
examples from other horror films that I used ideas from, I
looked at the marketing they used the internet. I was also able
to use images to model my own products on. Google and the
internet has definitely benefited me. I was able to find new
ideas every day.
5. Blogger
• Using blogger has made my coursework easy to organise. It
has kept all my work in date order. This is my second year
using Blogger, my skills and understand of what it can do has
greatly improved. Linking different media technologies with it,
such as hyperlinks. I was also able to share work which id
done as a document on to my blog without having to copy
and paste into a post. The use of blogger has made me able to
link different media technologies together.
6. Dafont.com
• I used a website called Dafont.com in order to
get text fonts, which I used in all my products.
I used the site to also research and try what
they would look like before downloading
them. From this I was able to use text fonts
which look profession and fit with the codes
and conventions of the horror genre.
7. Video Cameras
• A video camera was a necessity for my
production. I was able to take an number of
shots and the choose which ones I was going
to use for my actual finished product.
• I was able to mimic different shot types from
professional trailers
8. Tripod
• The use of a tripod has allowed me to make
sure that the shots I made where steady,
varied and looked professional. It made the
filming of my trailer a lot easier than it would
have been if I had not used one.
9. Photoshop
• Photoshop was an other big part of all aspects of my
coursework. I have been able to use it to create a high quality
magazine cover, poster and inter-titles. It provided me with
many different tools such as fillers, highlighters and tools for
adjustment. This was my second year using the software and
like other media technologies my knowledge has been
improved and I am now more aware of its many different
functions in editing photos.
10. Final cut
• This editing software has allowed me to edit my film trailer
using industry standard software. Although I did find that I has
trouble with the software and out off all the media
technologies I have used, this was the hardest. I learnt most of
what I did from just trying lots of different techniques such as
video transitions and effects.
11. Facebook
• I used Facebook to send my target audience a message asking
them to do my survey.
• I also found that other films of the horror genre had the used
the social media network to keep audiences interested in
their product, posting status about the film and getting
audiences to get involved.
12. Photobooth
• i used this application which is on my macbook at home to
evaluate my research and planning. It helped me develop
what I needed to do,
• I also used it to convey my ideas at the start of my
coursework.
• The software has allowed me to video my self using different
variations of media technologies and was more fun than just
writing down ideas
13. PowerPoint
• I have used PowerPoint mainly for my evaluations and some
of my planning. It has allowed me to do questions using a
slide for each question I was answering. By using it, I have
used different software. This shows I can use a range to
display my work.
14. slideshare
• Slideshare is a website that allowed me to share my
documents into my blog, but also was a different method of
presenting. I was able to embed my documents into other
media technologies like Blogger. It was very effective and has
made my blog look professional.
15. YouTube
• I manly only used YouTube to upload my final trailer. However
I have used it in my research into other horrors. It is a useful
and effective took in researching trailers like mine, to making
sure I was keeping to the codes and conventions. I was finding
new videos being posted frequently which have helped me
develop. I also used it to watch tutorials on certain software
which I was not sure how to use. It has been a very useful
learning took throughout my coursework
16. Prezi
• Prezi has allowed me to present my work in yet another
different way. It works like a mind map which helped me in my
research and planning the most, as well as in evaluation. It is a
professional way to present work and allows you to go into
detail. You can also add images and links to it. It incorporates
other media technologies into it.
