*Compared to AS level Media, the use of media
technologies was very narrow and broadening
the technologies used would only complicate
more. However in A2 Media, the experience
from AS media allows and encourages more use
of a range of media technologies. This includes
the use of social networking sites for
promotion.

*Google Docs is an example of this; I used this online
program for the construction of a questionnaire and
the analysis of its results for my research and
planning section. The purpose of the questionnaire
was to understand what the audience like in a
music video and what genre of music they like.
Unfortunately the questionnaire wasn’t as effective
as word of mouth because no one actually filled out
the questionnaire. For future reference, I should
ensure the questionnaire was completed and given
to people at a earlier time.

*Final cut pro is an essential application for every step of
this process. I’ve used this app to edit and convert my
music video, evaluation vlogs and Research vlog for the
analysis of the video “Turn Down For What”. One feature
of Final Cut that I used was the Sepia and Black/White
Tint video filter for several shots in the video. The Fade
in/out tool was also very beneficial for the video’s
editing to flow smoothly.

*Both these digital cameras have been used for
filming but because of the video and picture
quality, the D3300 was used for the filming of
the music video and the pictures for the
digipak and magazine advert, while the Lumix
was used for the filming of evaluation question
1&3 and the vlog analysis of the music video
“Turn Down For What”.

*Motion was probably the least used application
I used throughout this process but an very
important app nevertheless. This application
was used for the titles and text used in my
music video and the evaluation vlogs 1&3. This
app didn’t have much use in this music video as
much as the previous film opening.

*Because this task requires the ancillary texts of a digipak
and a magazine advert, Photoshop was a crucial tool for
constructing these texts. Considering I had no experience
of Photoshop prior to the task. I had to experiment for
myself how Photoshop and its features worked. I personally
think that what I produced was decent for someone who
has no knowledge to Photoshop before. Although I
recognise that my magazine advertisement could be
improved immensely. Firstly the smudges across the arms
and shoulders of the star shouldn’t be there, I could of
included reviews and ratings from critics and newspaper to
add the realistic element of the poster and also the word
“impossible” could be clearer as some of the word blurs in
between the background.

*Originally InDesign was the application to use for
the digipak design, however the Photoshop
template was easier plus all the photos used for the
digipak was edited using Photoshop so it’s easier to
place the image on the template within the correct
aspect ratio. I didn’t have any experience with
InDesign prior to this task which was another reason
why this app wasn’t used for the process of
constructing my digipak ancillary text.

*Both the Internet and YouTube played vital roles in
all stages of this task. Both were used to research
pre-existing professional media texts, however
YouTube was more useful for finding previous
student’s work as well as professional music videos.
YouTube was also needed to upload my evaluation
vlogs and music video so that I can embed it onto my
blog. Of course Vimeo is a viable option for
uploading but YouTube is the bigger video provider
which helps with getting more views for more
audience feedback. The general internet was more
useful for finding artists’ website and digipaks.

*The Haverstock Media blog is an important tool
to upload blog posts and ensure to record all
steps of my progress throughout the time
period. The blog can used to upload photos and
blog posts. With the combinations of other
sites like Slideshare, Prezi and YouTube, you
can also embed videos and presentations to the
blogs to ensure the blog is more multi-media.
