Lloyd Pocknell discusses the importance of various Adobe software applications, including InDesign, Photoshop, Premier, and Bridge, in the creation of his products for his evaluation, which included a trailer, magazine, and poster. He found InDesign crucial for laying out the magazine and poster, using layers and gradients to create a professional, glossy look. Premier was similarly important for editing footage and merging sounds to create a successful film trailer. During the planning and research stages, he relied on tools like Blogger, YouTube, Google, PowerPoint, and Prezi to document his work, research film conventions and designs, and create polished evaluations.
2. During the construction stages of the creation of my products
(trailer, magazine and poster) The use of Adobe InDesign,
Photoshop, Premier and Bridge was of significant importance
of the success and professionalism to my products.
Adobe InDesign is a publishing software that was used
primarily for the creation of the magazine and the poster. I
have already had experience in using the software from the
music magazine productions in AS Level. From this I was
ready to fully immerse myself for the A2 Level challenge of the
film magazine and poster. I felt this software is a main factor in
creating the professionalism I desired when creating the
magazine and poster. The uses of layers and gradients were
of crucial importance to the glossy and proficient nature of the
magazine and film covers
3. The use of Adobe Premier in the creation of my film trailer was
of similar importance to the use of Adobe InDesign was the
creation of the poster and the magazine.
Adobe Premier was the most important tool we used, as this
enabled the group the create a successful film promotion. While
using premier, we were able to edit all of the footage taken with
our various camcorders and effectively organise the clips with
the drag and drop tool. Premier also enabled us to merge
sounds together gathered from the camcorders, Dictaphones
and special effects. Without the ability to do this I do not feel the
product could've been as successful as it did.
Other technologies used in the construction process:-
Canon Digital Camera – Primarily used for Animatic
Samsung Digital Camcorder – Used for Trailer and Focus
Group
Olympus Dictaphone- Radio noises on trailer
4. For the research and planning aspect of the course, I needed to use
different mediums of technology to plan and research various things I
needed to make my product successful.
Blogger – Blogger is an online website which allows it users to document
their information and use it as a portfolio for their work. Blogger was of
crucial importance in the planning of my work. I was able to look at other
blogs which helped me as a guideline for the planning of the blog. I have
previously used blogger for my AS work so I was fully aware how to use
Blogger to its best potential by incorporating presentational devices like
Prezi or SlideShare.
YouTube – YouTube was also of great importance during the planning
process. I used YouTube to research film trailers with a post apocalyptic
genre. The film trailers of “The Road” and “Shutter Island” were of great
influence of the group and without YouTube we would not have been able
to compare and try and use the conventions of those trailer in our trailer.
When the group was short of ideas, we would look to YouTube and try and
find further conventions/ideas to help us in the creation of the trailer.
5. Google – Google was also an integral part of the
research and planning process. Google (and in
particular Google Images) was of significant
importance in the research of other post
apocalyptic films. Without Google I would have not
been able to research, compare and incorporate
designs from other movie posters and film
magazines. As Google is a parent company of
Blogger and YouTube, it was incredibly easy to
transfer data between all three websites. This
saved me a lot of time during the research and
planning process.
6. During the evaluation stage I used a variety of different techniques in
order to make my evaluation as smart and slick as possible. These
included the standard blog posts, slides from Microsoft PowerPoint
and then transferred onto blogger and also used the presentational
device Prezi. Slideshare is a service which enables people to transfer
their PowerPoint presentations to the internet. It is rather easy to use
and very user friendly, hence why I am using it. This was particularly
useful when displaying my storyboard as there is no limit to how many
slides you can use.
Prezi is an online website which enables people to create online
presentational device, its very similar to PowerPoint but is harder to
use but there is a lot of animation involved making the presentation a
whole lot easier. I used Prezi in my Evaluation Question 1 and it
makes the whole presentation a lot more professional.
In conclusion, I feel that the use of media technologies in the
contruction and research, planning and evaluation stages were of
paramount importance and the success of my magazine would not
have been possible without all of the technology I have mentioned.
