Introduction (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion This lesson was formulated to coincide with the Jump Rope for Heart program which promotes keeping a healthy heart with plenty of exercise and healthy eating. The children learn a variety of ways they can stay healthy and this is one exercise to help them improve their health. This activity is for the students to create a meal plan consisting of healthy foods that accurately represent the food groups. They will plan meals for one week and attempt to follow this plan to improve their diets.
Learners (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion This lesson is directed toward third grade health students and involved technology and writing skills as well. It could easily be applied to fourth, fifth and sixth grades as well with modifications to fit the grade level.  The learners need to have a knowledge base of food and the food pyramid. It would also be helpful for them to have the basic typing skills and how to operate their personal blogs

Teacher Script (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion Title Page:  “Today we are going to discuss the importance of healthy eating and how it contributes to a healthy life. Can anyone tell me what a food pyramid is? What are some healthy foods you can think of?” Introduction Page: Read introduction as seen on slide. “Any questions?” Task Page:  Describe task in detail as seen on slide. Ask if task makes sense and see if anyone has done a similar activity in the past. Process Page:  Have children go to individual computers and describe each of the three websites they need to visit. Let them free to explore websites for about 5 minutes. Then hand out worksheet and go over point number 2. After they have completed the worksheet describe point 3 and have them work individually on creating their plan. As a class, go over point 4 and have them upload their plan to their blogs and send the link to the other students.  Evaluation:  Describe the rubric and what the students will be graded on as seen on the slide. Conclusion:  Have a discussion as a class about the benefits of healthy eating and how they might implement these plans into their everyday lives.

Introduction (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion This lesson was formulated to coincide with the Jump Rope for Heart program which promotes keeping a healthy heart with plenty of exercise and healthy eating. The children learn a variety of ways they can stay healthy and this is one exercise to help them improve their health. This activity is for the students to create a meal plan consisting of healthy foods that accurately represent the food groups. They will plan meals for one week and attempt to follow this plan to improve their diets.

Teacher Script (Teacher) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion Title Page: “Today we are going to discuss the importance of healthy eating and how it contributes to a healthy life. Can anyone tell me what a food pyramid is? What are some healthy foods you can think of?” Introduction Page: Read introduction as seen on slide. “Any questions?” Task Page: Describe task in detail as seen on slide. Ask if task makes sense and see if anyone has done a similar activity in the past. Process Page: Have children go to individual computers and describe each of the three websites they need to visit. Let them free to explore websites for about 5 minutes. Then hand out worksheet and go over point number 2. After they have completed the worksheet describe point 3 and have them work individually on creating their plan. As a class, go over point 4 and have them upload their plan to their blogs and send the link to the other students. Evaluation: Describe the rubric and what the students will be graded on as seen on the slide. Conclusion: Have a discussion as a class about the benefits of healthy eating and how they might implement these plans into their everyday lives.
