This presentation was given at the 2012 AECT Conference. It discusses how to evaluate and select a Learning Management System (LMS) based upon an organization’s needs and learning goals. This presentation illustrates how to identify the learning needs of an organization, compare these needs with available LMSs, select potential LMS options, and evaluate these options based upon a presenter-provided rubric. The success of the e-learning paradigm observed in recent times has created a growing demand for e-learning systems in universities and other educational institutions, which has led to the development of a number of either commercial or open-source eLearning Management Systems (eLMS). How they work or, what they are doing? These are some new problems arising that demands appropriate solutions. The present discussion initially highlights certain distinctive features of e-learning management systems. Basically the idea of adaptive e-learning is being facilitated through the use, implementation and installation of various open source or commercial software. Such software for their operation requires specific platforms. Because of multiplicity of platforms and approaches for systems implementation, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage or compare them. Each new LMS presents its own learning model. How to compare different e-learning platforms, and on what basis to choose the most adequate one, is a task of ever increasing importance. Thus a comparative study has been used to enumerate the utility and effectiveness of some e-learning software like Moodle, Sakai, Atutor, Caroline and Dokeos. However, with implementation of different eLMS modules certain barriers have evolved. Issues related to these barriers would be addressed in the concluding section of this discussion. Besides this, the conclusion also provides insights in regard of what lies in future for the idea of e-learning management systems, and how can its drawbacks be resolved.

The Electronic Class Record (E-Class Record) from Department of Education (DepEd) is an Information Software used by Faculty Members in different schools depending on their level status of the Students at present. This Information System tool is designed to facilitate proper evaluations, assessment reports and effectively getting the total progress and performance grading results exclusively for the Senior High School Students in Diliman College - Quezon City. The E-Class Record which is formatted by using a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file document gives the teachers an important grading information and evaluations on which class recording of grades are now more reliable and efficient. The construction of the Qualitative research study is for me to gather the descriptive analysis statements made from the respondents’ point of view, and how they have been assessed and satisfied by their own experiences in using the Electronic Class Record (E-Class Record) effectively and efficiently.

Application of Semester Knowledge Name Institution of Affiliation Date Throughout this semester, we have learnt and acquired knowledge and skills in the fields of Disaster Recovery planning, Business Continuity Planning and Security Architecture. The knowledge has been of great value to me as a software engineer in my place of work where I was posted recently and has even ensured I was promoted to be part of the board members of the software engineers in the company. This is due to two emergency cases of cyber-attacks that I handled professionally thanks to the prior knowledge I had from our previous semester. DRP and CRP all fall under business domain. The knowledge acquired in this case help in protecting the company against unauthorized access into the company’s technology , building a technology system that is able to prevent security threatening emergencies and ensuring the business continues in case such disaster befalls the company or business entity. Therefore as a software engineer I was always prepared for the worst rather than just prevention part of it. This involves putting in place practices, preparations and processes that always ensure the continuity and preservation of the company in cases where there are disruptions to the day to day operations of the company or business. Part of the tasks that I was performing as a software engineer therefore involved testing, identification, selection, implementation and updating of specific processes that ensure critical services are not affected by the network disruptions. A good example is in the past month where we realized that some individuals had hacked the customer service system and taken private information of customers and were calling the ignorant ones to disclose their Pass words of mobile banking by claiming to be our agents in this case we revoked the customer services for a few hours and changed the whole system but ensured the other services were available as normal. I led part of the team that built a mobile detector that led us to one apartment within the city where with the help of security agents the culprits were captured with all the laptops and every item they were using including mobile phones.it was after this that we developed a system that would detect whenever somebody wanted to hack the customer service system thus reinstating normalcy in the business. In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
