Evaluation question 2
1. EVALUATION QUESTION 2 How effective is the combination of your main products and ancillary texts?
2.
3. Fonts shared throughout products Main title text is used on all products – it is the signature text for the film, thus it is used for all products. This font is used again for the tagline in the trailer as it’s the main product. This font is called ‘Sorchlight’ Trailer Magazine Poster
4. Colour scheme The colour scheme is very earthy and this is shown throughout the product. Earthy colours were chosen to reflect the life the protagonists have come from – living of the earth, community and cult lifestyle These colours have largely influenced my choices in the design of the products: Magazine Trailer Poster Empire magazine will normally change their font colours to match the cover photo – therefore I change the headline to a misted green and cream colour I kept the other font on the magazine the same colour because any other colour seemed to blend in with the photo. This colour shone out of the magazine cover which advertised features really well – grabbing attention The trailer kept with this scheme by the use of locations, props and clothing choice. The locations included wooden sheds, woodland and cornfield. The props included a cream and dark green blanket and wooden weapons. The dress was kept cream and dark green except for antogonist who was dressed in black. These colour choices are subvert conventions of horror
5. Characters used in products Magazine Trailer Trailer The male protagonist is show wearing earthy colours and very laid back wear – jeans. The long hair also adds to his rustic nature from the cult lifestyle. This shows the characters style are is his signature for audience to recognise. However her signature is the close-up shot and the audience will become familiar with this.
6. The three products work well together and it is clear that they all share similarities clearly seen in said areas. They look continuous and are clearly of the same brand which shows the advertising scheme to be successful. If I was to further improve upon this area however I would have used more shots of the male protagonist in the trailer and an image of him in the poster to add more continuation throughout. Overall
