HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN
PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY TEXTS?
I am going to examine the consistency of style between my music video and my
promotion package ; and discuss whether it has all co-operated in creating a successful
marketing package.
 I will do this by talking about each on a separate slide and compare in the process.
During this I will also explain my reasons for doing particularly things as well as possible
things I could have changed to make it a more coherent package collectively.
Digipak
Colour system –
Uses of the colours
black and white.

Are both products
coherent?

   To an extent I would say Both pieces do possess a sense of coherence. This is
   evident in conventions such as the fonts used on both, as well as an alike colour
   scheme, although this is not identical. Also there is a comparable correlation
   between the styles of photos used, both regarding the topic of nature and
   connoting an idea of obscurity with the help of effects used as well.
   I know I could have made a better effort in having a stronger house style
   between both pieces. Conversely, I wanted to have an entropic style travelling
   through all my pieces, therefore I chose not too, and went for style with more of
   an ambiguous finish. I do still feel that there is enough coherence between
   within this package to see that they are from the same band and that it is
   appealing to the indie genre, so I am happy with the work I have made.
Music video – was it cohesive with my
promotion package?
My music video didn’t really have any sort of correlation with my production
work. This is something I could have improved on greatly, But chose not to.
Looking at the print screens below;
You can see that is no relation between the promotion package and the video. A reason for there not
being a closer relationship between the products was that my idea changed drastically halfway
through the year, when I realised; in order to obtain a higher mark my idea had to change, it was far
too irrelevant, so I changed it to this idea which I am happy with.
This then left me with a promotion package which I had already finished. Nonetheless, I eventually
decided to continue on with my new idea. I liked the sense of ambiguity my word was production
work was showing. There is no real correlation between all my work, but I still believe that you can
notice it all as one marketing product, the digipak and advert in comparison to the video. They give an
interesting, promiscuous style which is artistic , and I liked this very much.
The relationship you can gather from the video and the promotion package is that they are both for
the same genre, both being rather quirky, contemporary ideas however still retaining certain features
to reinforce that they are within the indie genre.
In conclusion, I know I could have done many things to make a much stronger coherence between the
products. But, I am happy I chose not to, and I believe that this will not be a turn off, and will still
successful appeal to the niche target audience as expected.
