1. Evaluation 3: What kind of media
institution might distribute your
media product and why

2. If my magazine were to be put into production, I’d like to
think that Bauer Media Group would distribute it. I say
this as Bauer Media Group are one of the largest
magazine distribution companies in the world. They
manage over 600 different magazines. One of the
magazines that they manage is KERRANG magazine, my
model magazine. I feel like because my magazine and
KERRANG are so similar to each other, that they wouldn’t
be competing for more sales. Because Bauer manage
some of the other larger music magazines in the market, I
feel like if they distributed my magazine then it would
reach a big audience due to the ones that their other
magazine already have. Although some of Bauer media’s
magazines are 4Music, TheBox, Heat, Kiss, Magic and
Smash Hits I feel like my magazine could be distributed
due to them managing KERRANG.

3. I chose Bauer Media as my price seemed quite reasonable to
be sold by them as well as the target audience of my
magazine. Because my magazine is so similar to KERRANG and
Bauer Media don’t manage a lot of magazine with the same
genre as mine, I feel like it would give variety and choice for
my audience, whether they choose to buy and read mine or
buy and read KERRANG. I feel like if I released my magazine
every 2 weeks then this would not overload my audience with
issues but it would also give my audience fresh and new news
for the rock genre. As opposed to the mainstream magazines
that are released every week, I feel like this would be a
suitable time frame to release them. I would like my magazine
to be released in stores specifically for reading as well as
supermarkets, for example stores like, WH SMITH and
Waterstones as well as Tesco and ASDA. I want my magazine
to be available in almost all stores that have a magazine
section.
