Candy Pratt has never been very lucky in love. Her marriage failed and her new romantic pursuits have not lead anywhere. Candy finds a new way to share the love in her heart, but will she get the results that she is looking for?
6. But the romance is very brief. Yousef is more interested in exploring the city than he is in pursuing more than a friendship with Candy.
7. Meanwhile, Spencer decides to get to know his mother’s side of the family a bit, so he hangs out with his cousin Giuseppe Weems (Kianah’s son).
8. He also gets to know his spunky cousin Lindsay Weems, Giuseppe’s little sister. His older cousin Tenor looks on.
9. Candy is dissapointed that a relationship with Yousef did not work out. She decides to fill the empty hole in her heart, by adopting a child. Here newly adopted Gwendolyn bonds with Mimi.
10. Spencer leaves his cousins’ house and runs into his dad Sam in town. They take some time to chat.
11. Getting on in age, Candy is happy to have a sibling for Spencer. Gwendolyn appears to be the perfect match for the family…
12. But Spencer is not giving Gwendolyn the welcome that Candy expected that he would. He basically ignores her and spends his time talking to Rena.
13. Spencer turns his attention to his homework. His lifetime wish is to be Swimming in Cash and figures that the best way to get a head start is to do well in high school so that he can get a well paying job.
14. Candy is forced to take time off after the adoption of Gwendolyn. She likes having the opportunity to get to know Gwendolyn, but is not too happy to miss so many days of work.
15. Spencer is a bit irritated that he now has to share his home and mother with Gwendolyn. He goes out of his way to make her feel unwelcomed.
16. The brother/sister relationship that Candy was hoping would develop between Spencer and Gwendolyn doesn’t seem to be happening.
17. Gwendolyn longs for a friend, but so far has only experienced isolation at school...
19. But right when she feels as if she’ll never make a friend, Mimi comes to the rescue and goes out of her way to treat Gwendolyn with loving kindness.
20. Gwendolyn wants so much to be loved and accepted, but feels isolated from her new family. She often wakes up very early in the morning to spend time alone, because she has gotten so used to being alone over the years.
21. Candy & Mimi have become really good friends since Mimi has moved in. Candy asks Mimi why she is not in love & married. “You need to get out and go on dates…maybe even fall in love,” Candy encourages.
22. Mimi reveals that she has been in love, but has never been interested in marriage because of her commitment issues. Mimi asks Candy about her past marriage to Sam.
23. Candy describes how Sam cheated and had children with his mistress. “Never, ever marry a lazy good for nothing!” Candy warns Mimi.
24. While Candy & Mimi are occupied in the kitchen discussing love & bad marriages, Spencer sees an opportunity to annoy Gwendolyn. He sneaks up behind her and scares her.
25. Gwendolyn is very upset with Spencer. She asks why he keeps being mean to her and threatens to tell Candy.
26. Spencer knows that his mother would be very upset, so he immediately backs off.
27. Seeing the evil look on Gwendolyn’s face, Spencer decides that he’d better stay away from Gwendolyn for a while.
28. Mimi and Candy are still chatting away. This time the conversation has moved to cooking.
29. While Spencer is doing his homework, Gwendolyn bursts into his room and begins doing her homework. She dares Spencer to say a word…he doesn’t dare.
30. Mimi thinks about her conversation with Candy regarding love and getting out more. She decides to go to the park and socialize a bit. She meets an older gentleman by the name of Juston Brinson and the two of them hit it off right away.
31. Mimi asks Juston if he is married or in a relationship. To her delight, Juston is single.
32. Spencer knows that he needs to be away from Gwendolyn as much as possible, so he calls up his girlfriend Rena and asks her to meet him at the theater.
34. Rena & Spencer spend the first part of their evening touring the theater, with a bit of making out backstage.
35. While Spencer is with Rena at the theater, Mimi decides to call up Juston after he leaves the park. She just wanted to be sure that he had actually given her the correct phone number.
36. During their conversation, Mimi finds out that Juston is not very interested in ever being married either. She’s not sure if he has commitment issues like she does, but at least she knows that it may be safe for her to get to know him better.
37. Rena & Spencer leave the theater and visit the Pratt family’s restaurant for a nice meal.
38. It’s a gorgeous night and they both find it romantic to dine under the stars.
39. Meals seem to taste even better when you share them with those you care about.
40. Spencer tells Rena that one day he will be a very rich man, but it won’t mean anything to him if she is not by his side. She is flattered and tells him that she’ll be awaiting his proposal.
41. Spencer has very real feelings for Rena and cannot wait until he is old enough to marry her.
43. Candy tells Gwendolyn that she wants her to go to bed and get some good sleep, because she’s planning to throw a party in Gwendolyn’s honor the next day.
44. Gwendolyn is both excited and nervous about a party being thrown for her. On one hand it will give her a chance to get to know some of her new extended family members, but is afraid that like Spencer – they will not like her. All she can do is hope for the best.
