A thinking exercise to get my ancient history students to ponder the universe and its existence.

1. Write down and answer the following questions. Do not discuss with the
people around you.

2. Time
 What is time?
 Has it always existed?
 When did it begin?
 When will it end?

3. Space
 How large is the Universe?
 Does it end? If so, what is after it?
 Was it created at a specific point in
time?
 Has it always existed?

4. Space/Time
 If there is a God, did he/she/it always
exist?
 What were they doing before the creation of
earth?
 What is the timeframe? 15 bil vs 6,000 years
ago?
 Has the universe existed and been
destroyed before this one?
 Is time forever? Does it start and stop?

5. Homework
 Write a 0.5-1 page single space paper in
which you express your opinions on the
meanings of Time and Space.
 Use ideas from the questions stated and
your thoughts to formulate your answer.
 It is opinion with a little philosophy.
There is no right or wrong answer, only
your effort.
